Yesterday was the Trans March, today is the D*ke March, and tomorrow is the Pride Parade. Pride Toronto is nearly 40 years old, and it attracts between 500,000 and 1,000,000 people a year; I think I once read that it is the second largest Pride celebration in the world, outside of San Francisco? And yes, I'm boasting. I love this, and I am "proud" of how profoundly and joyfully my own city engages with it. Anyway, so I went to the Stonewall Inn exhibit at SL16B last night to celebrate. The Stonewall Uprising had an impact on the LGBTQ community in Canada of course (although the major impetus for change here, and the origin of our Pride Parade, was a series of brutal raids conducted by the police on gay bathhouses in 1981). I was a bit disappointed that the Inn was just a facade, but it was still lovely to see it.
