I like to watch sport in general. There are very little Olympic sports I really dislike.
Of course I will keep an extra eye on the events where Dutch athletes have a chance of winning a medal.
A pity that a lot takes place during our night time. So I'll see a lot of highlights only these Olympics during daytime broadcasts.

Our work sent out an email saying they would be blocking a variety of streaming sites and would be watching for excessive bandwidth usage (cuz y'all are here to work dagnabbit, not watch tv).  Glad I'm not there next week - maybe their vigilance will reduce a bit for the second week.

I live in Tokyo and many people are not that happy about it, many people are worried because of the newly again instated state of emergency and rising covid cases. Everyone was so euphoric before the pandemic here about it and now it's more...like no one wants to celebrate too much because it is not that appropriate when you look at the world and the problems at the moment ( ̄ヘ ̄;)

Now Sumo wrestling I would definitely watch.

The big sumo tournaments in Japan run the first half of every odd-numbered month. They're pretty common. You should be able to find a livestream on YouTube.

I just want to know how those cardboard beds are working for the athletes.

I'm sure they're working out just fine.  The do have actual mattresses.  The beds are also sturdier than wood and they will be recycled after the games so eco-friendly, too.

Who's watching?  What will you watch?  Anything you'd like to comment on?

I believe it should have been cancelled due to the strain it may place on Japan and their healthcare systems.

I also do not believe it's right that we (NEW Zealand) sent a trans "woman" to compete against biological women.

Plus I can't think of anything more boring than watching other people play sports.

Nah. Sports aren't very interesting to begin with, but even less so on a television monitor.

Let me know when gladiatorial combat is back on the menu, then I might watch.

I hate the whole commercialisation of sport.  For me the Limpits died when they let professional competitors in.  Now it's just a competition between countries and how many medals they can grab, based often on the skill of their pharma industry to make performance enhancing drugs that can't be detected.

So I'll read the results online.  Maybe.  If I can't avoid them.

Gonna take a lot more than cardboard beds to stop that tradition.

some tested it and put it on several media... the bed can take quite some wild eh.. ..athletic sport training before it collapses... ( and who would stop if it did  :)  )

They should've cancelled considering the world is still not out of the woods yet with covid.  They said the reason for not cancelling is because of money?  How bad could the financial fallout be compared with human lives? Now there are reports of athletes testing positive for the virus. 🤦‍♂️

I agree with the sentiment about watching others play a sport… as an ex pro eventer, my beautiful horses and I had some thrills flying over cross country fences and so on. However I cannot think of anything more boring than watching other people ride horses on tv 🙈 also I cannot stand it anymore… I ride all my horses bitless now ❤️🐴

Try fencing. If you were expecting something like Zorro or The Princess Bride, you're in for such a disappointment!

I love fencing, and competed for quite a few years. But at the Olympic levels, even though I know what's going on, I can't follow the action. Those people are incredibly fast.

I want to see one of the fencers drop his sword and put his hands up...and then, when the other's about to prod him, he uses his foot to flip the sword into the air, catches it, and they start fighting again 🙂
