As a child I imagined this amazing vast world for the Tolkien books I read, but when seeing the LOTR movies I felt major disappointment. I'm always wary of movies that are based on books I've read. Besides characters and locations not looking like you've pictured them in your mind all the times you read the book, the story line of the movie is often either missing parts or includes parts or emphases that were not in the book. I'm also wary when buying a version of a book that came out after a movie was made of it, especially when the book cover talks about the movie. I like to make sure what I am reading is the original version, not the movie version. I can still remember the first hard-cover book I got to pick out by myself and buy, when I was 9. I got the original Mary Poppins, and I was so surprised when I started reading it and found out that it was nothing like the Disney movie.

LyricalBookworm
I've recently started binge watching Outlander. I read the entire series twenty years ago and I really didn't know a series was made until a few weeks ago. I really feel out of the loop of things. I watched the first season, but I'm not sure I'll continue since it is turning to be too violent for my taste.
Eva Knoller
Big fan of Outlander! I just started the first season of Anne with an E last night. I loved both the books and the movies as a kid, and this new version is great. Not sure what took me so long to start it.

They are not following the books at all, although the characters and the general arc of the series is consistent with the books. Still, the acting, the scenery, and the costumes are quite well done. There are some real tearjerker moments. I'm enjoying the series.
BinBash
I'm watching "The Good Place". It's ok. I'm waiting for "Kim's Convenience" new episodes.
Pussycat Catnap
https://www.netflix.com/title/80236236 An incredibly brutal review of it: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/life-review-1225821 - is pretty correct... but I'm watching it anyway... Stuck between "maybe this gets better" and "at least I don't have to care too much". It's addicting for all the wrong reasons. Indigo Fae
Finished binge watching "The Man in High Castle" first three seasons awesome, final season felt forced, rushed and bit of a let down. Next up "The Expanse " and "Treadstone" , Mandolorian was decent but still better then last jedi , and toss a coin to your witcher was fun. Outlander and another life I have on the list.

Pussycat Catnap
Here's where I actually spend my 'viewing time'. Listening to podcasts: https://megaphone.link/VMP4868702386 https://www.vox.com/pivot-with-kara-swisher-and-scott-galloway "Trillion dollar companies and tax season; how t... Kara talk about Google becoming the world's fourth trillion-dollar company ... and who is actually paying taxes on all of it?" https://www.vox.com/ezra-klein-show-podcast "The war on Muslims (with Mehdi Hasan) Mehdi Hasan on the rise of global Islamophobia" https://www.vox.com/today-explained "A George Washington Bridge too far The Supreme Court is trying to settle the fight over the biggest traffic jam in the history of American politics once and for all. WNYC's Matt Katz, author of "American Governor: Chris Christie's Bridge to Redemption," explains." https://www.vox.com/the-weeds "The Weeds is Vox's podcast for politics and policy discussions. Every Tuesday and Friday, Matthew Yglesias is joined by Ezra Klein, Dara Lind, Jane Coaston and other Vox voices to dig into the weeds on important national issues" That's why, when I actually watch TV, it's in the last hour or so before bed, and usually genre fiction as a tangent to other things. BinBash
I finished watching um.. The Good Place. Someone in that show mentioned "Justified" so I tried that it's ok but not really what I wanted. I need a new fun show to watch.
Madelaine McMasters
Since I started watching streaming stuff a few years ago, I've found some things I like: Sherlock (BBC via PBS. This show was consistently able to surprise me.) Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (I have Lenny Bruce in my vinyl collection, it's nice to see him portrayed "in the flesh". I'm losing patience with Midge.) Barry (What a guilty pleasure this is!) I got a free subscription to AppleTV+ with my new iPhone, so: The Morning Show (better than the reviews, and introduced me to Billy Crudup) For All Mankind (I wanna be Molly!) Dickinson (I like this MUCH more than I expected. Hailee Steinfeld (Emily) is a hoot.) Little America (Wonderful!) I'm currently watched Fleabag, which is growing on me. So far, my favorite is... Little America.

The Good Doctor stays light when you're not in the mood for anything too heavy: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6470478/ It's about a surgeon with autism at the beginning of his career, all the mishaps along the way as he learns to fit into 'normal' society. (Like blurting out, far too soon, as some autistic people aren't able to comprehend correct timing in social situations, "you're going to die anyway" to a patient). Many in society seem to dislike those with autism, but one can't help but love this character.
