    I have to wonder if LL would get involved and do something if they actually do shut off the servers and render all those bodies useless. That'll be a lot of customers left in the cold.

    The FBI and the KGB turned FSB DDOS stuff on the DL but IDK what it has to do with SL. AFAIK, anybody can DDOS anything! Yes, it's just SSDD. WTF, man.

    Funny story. Years ago, back before Activision bought out Blizzard, they used to give compensation for server downtime., when WoW was down. And in those early days, it often was. I don't think I've ever seen any other online service do that, though.

    I suspect they use a bot, or bots, to buy up the land, then go back and set them for resale by hand later. Also, LL seems very inconsistent about land they set for sale directly and put for auction, in my experience. Probably depends on which agent reads the ticket.

    This is why I always use my own scripts and web servers. Never rely on other people!

    I leave rez and scripts enabled on all my parcels, and never have problems with griefers. Overblown fear.

    I can get a virtual server to host very similar games as SL, for as little as 10 or 15 USD a month, and those companies are very profitable because of the bulk of customers they have. LL wouldn't lose money by lowering prices unless they did something that also cost them customers. Lower prices and make it more appealing to rent, and profits will skyrocket. This is probably the biggest issue with premium land, really. There's no price point between "not enough" and "way too much, I'll go play another game instead".
