  1. Hi All, I'd like to share an issue I have been having - which may have been for a long time but never noticed until recently - I have already contacted support regarding this and have yielded no answers as all the suggestions the support specialist has suggested do not work. So I am posting this on the forums to see if someone has suggestions or has experienced a similar issue. I may share this on a few of the other sections here on the forums as I am unsure where to post this. I have been a premium member for almost two years. And I have always had a first and last name because my account was created before last names were switched to Resident. I had not contemplated a name change until recently as I now want my first name in-world avatar's name to match my SL Facebook name. My avatar's first name in world is actually the word "No" ( please don't ask, I was young and dumb when I first created my account, hehe ). Sometimes people have trouble finding my avatar name in search inworld, and it gets confusing, so I figured I would toy with the idea of changing that first name. Anyway, each time I click on the "Change Name" tab in the drop-down menu, as shown below: I receive the error page shown below. I have displayed the url and the actual page that shows up. As you can see in the top right corner is says "Login", However, I am already logged into the home page/dashboard. Even when I click that "Login" button, I get popped back to the home page/ dashboard and it automatically appears as if I am logged in again to the dash board. The support specialist that was helping me suggested I log out and log back in and try again - I have done that - but, I am still getting this server error page. Has anyone experienced this? How have you been able to resolve this issue? Does the change name feature only work for some premium users and not all? My current membership is the Premium - Annual Membership. Thank you for your help and any suggestions.

  7. Well couldn't find a specific discussion related to this, and again it's affecting my decisions in SL land ownership. So might as well talk about it directly: Now that SL is in the cloud, tier levels are the silliest thing to keep. The lower steps aren't too bad. However, when you get to over 1/4 of a region price it get's expensive fast. Such is the conundrum I am facing now, and many others have faced before.. There's 2048m of land in my region for a good price, but to get it I'll have to increase my tier to US$112 which gives me half a region tier, that I will never be able to obtain enough land to fill. WHY???? The only other option that might stupidly be cheaper is I could pay for another premium account get tier on that pay for both separately and actually end up paying less per month. But WHY should I jump through that hoop?! Let's get Serious LL, with all the abandoned mainland out there it is clear; land tier is not your main income. It's clearly the marketplace, premium accounts, and Linden Exchange. If you just removed the arbitrary limits hampering land usage: Land tier and extra surcharge to cash out L$ to pay said tier to YOU. You would get more land usage. That means more content > more sales of content to fill land on marketplace > more buying L$ to spend on renting > MORE MONEY for LL!! This among a few other things you cling to from the past is actually COSTING the platform money! So come on do the sensible thing! Just make Tier prorated with discounted levels!!! Or maybe you are, and that might be a big announcement at this years SL Birthday? One can only hope... So, who else has similar stories / is of the same opinion on this?? Pretty sure there are quite a few of you out there..

  10. Aloha all, I have a quick Prims vs Land Impact question. Researching it takes me down a rabbit hole of decade-old Forum posts. I'm considering buying a mainland parcel. Before I do so, I'd like to figure out what my costs will be. I currently rent a quarter sim for L$9728 per month. Given today's exchange rate, I'm paying $41.86 USD per month to rent. The Mainland Pricing and Fees page indicates a monthly charge of $67 USD for a 1/4 sim, which makes buying mainland look like a bad deal. Hmmm. But then I noticed that it allows 5625 Prims Per Parcel. In our mostly mesh world the line between Prims and Land Impact is super blurry, but I would love to have a parcel with 5625 LI! Heck, even a 1/8 mainland sim allows 2812 Prims, which would be much more than my current cap of 1250 LI. Buttttt... only if Prims equate to Land Impact, which they likely don't since the invention of mesh. SO: how do I know what the LI cap will be on mainland parcels? Is there some sort of equation that can be used to figure this out? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Hi all, normally at Higher Ground Music Magazine, I focus on interviews with musicians/venue owners etc. I plan on speaking to some venue owners and musicians about this as well, but I wanted to find out in general how everyone is feeling and what you believe the outlook is given the coronavirus crisis. Some countries are already on total lockdown, and it's looking more and more every day like that could happen in the US. I'm curious. When it comes to priorities, how are you dealing with land tier? I pay about $100 a month I guess in tier and then there's $100 a month for musicians as I only have shows once a month. That's roughly $200 a month give or take not including my premium membership and anything I purchase in SL. I don't know about you, but I have to seriously consider that it's possible I may have to give up my land until the crisis is over. If I am forced to shut down my daycare business in RL there won't be any income and certainly nothing extra to spend on a virtual world. So, I'm curious... in places where lockdown has already occurred. Have you given up your in world land? If it happens where you live, are you prepared to give up your in world land? Will land owners be kind and allow us to keep our land and pay when things get better? Will LL let land owners keep their land free of charge until money is flowing again? These are all things I am very curious about. What say you?
  17. Hi I'm thinking about going premium to buy this plot/parcel on mainland. It's 1,120 sqm. I read about how a group can get 10% bonus, but how do I actually get it so that I won't pay any tier on that parcel? Do I... (a) buy it personally and then deed the whole parcel to a group, or (b) buy it personally and then deed 90% of the parcel, or (c) buy for group at the point of purchase? Thanks (I'm a little confused 😶)
  18. I am a premium member and have already got 1024 square meters of land which is free of tier costs. If I take advantage of the new offer of a home for premium members, will that add to my holdings by 1024 square meters and thus incur an additional monthly tier fee?

  21. A premium member can own 1024 square meters without paying tier. A friend would like to donate his 1024 meters to a group. He is hoping the group can combine several donations and buy land larger than 1024 square meters and not pay tier. But we do not know how to donate the square meters. I assume that is different than deeding land already owned to the group...it would not make sense for the group to own several disjointed pieces of land.
  22. My friend and myself are both premium accounts and we have purchased two adjacent 1024 blocks (mainland) and have placed a large home across both. Q is if we set both blocks to the same group and deed the land and house will this effect out tier free status as the group owned land is now 2048.
  23. Hi, everyone I'm a a new player and a premium member and I own a 1024m² land (mainland.) In order to get more prims I upped my tier for an additional 512m² land ($4USD per month.) I had to abandon my previous land so I could find both lands on the same sim (that's a requirement, right? I don't want the space, just the prims.) So I bought both (1024m² and 512m²) on the same sim (they're not side by side) and deeded them both to a group I created (I had to add a friend since you can't have a solo group, lol.) Now I have more prims just like I wanted and this is what is showing in my acc: Allowed holdings: 1,536.00 square meters Current holdings: 0.00 square meters Available for purchase: 139.00 square meters Peak square meter usage: 1,536.00 square meters Total monthly cost: USD 4.00 Land Use Fees: Current Fees Estimated Fees Square meters owned: 0 0 Square meters donated 1397 1397 Premium Bonus in Square Meters 1024 1024 Paid Tier Level: 512 512 Available Square Meters: 139 139 Monthly Cost:* USD 4.00 USD 4.00 1) I supposed those extra 139m² are the 10% group bonus, right? Should I buy another land up to 139m² will it up my tier to the next one ($7USD per month - 1024m²) or nothing will change? 2) In order to get the prims from this new land it will have to be in the same sim as the others, right? 3) Since I donated both lands why the square meters donated shows 1397 and not 1024+512=1536? Did I do something wrong? Or am I reading/understanding this all wrong? Thanks in advance for your help.

  25. Premium membership is going up in price to $99 annual, and receives 1024 sqm. (It was $72 annual & 512 sqm.) ...And then of course, there's the 2nd generation Linden homes that are coming out... using the land fees calculator was starting to confuse me, especially when you throw in the "group-owned land" bonus... I currently have 1 premium acct with 5120 sqm mainland, which maxes out my tier at $22 a month. I don't have a linden home but might consider one, once the 2nd gen ones are available again, but anyways -- I digress... Which option would cost less USD $ overall: 1. 1 premium acct at $99 annual, with maxed out 5120 sqm at $22 monthly tier. (This is my current situation.) 2. 2 premium accts at $198 total annual, with the 5120 sqm split between the two (2560 sqm each) -- which falls under the $13 monthly tier each, and then throw in the group-owned land bonus on top. (Does this mean more sqm, more prims, or less tier?) 3. Say screw it -- get rid of the 5120 sqm, get 2 premium accts, and get two 2nd gen linden homes (1 for each acct). 4.Or some other inexpensive alternative that isn't covered in the above...?
