    Mesh heads on the budget

    Hello, Returning player here who has found a mesh body under 500 but can't find a head too. What would be the cheapest new mesh head possible? In my attempt to find some I found some 1L "mesh heads" that claim to be Bento or Rosie but look horrible.

I am wondering if The mesh project will update their bodies and heads to bento i love the body is really pretty so i am asking do you think be updated to bento fingers move or ect i mean it would be nice because from what i know pretty much all mesh body or most has updated to bento just not this one so yeah what you guys think

    Problems uploading a Mesh

    Hellow everyone!, I am starting in the bender design and I am currently finishing a rigged model for the NAM Chibi body. To my perception the weight of the skin is acceptable, the base body was provided by the creator and the gray model created by me. i was exported the gray model as collada.dae, and when trying to upload it as a model to SL. I can not include the weight of the skin I have no idea how to solve this error, could someone help me? thank you very much for your attention.!
  4. Sorry not sorry :( For the ears, why are only bento canine ears like, super duper tiny? Looking for some giant maned wolf-type ears that would still be giant if I had hair on my head. I made my current ears (image found here) but can't figure out how to rig them - if someone is willing to help me do that, that would be dope. Otherwise, if you can make similar ears and rig them, I would love you long time. FOR THE TAIL...I'm not even sure how this would work, but I'm looking for something like a Saluki tail. I'm stuck using flexiprims right now because it's kind of like, the only thing that really works for how it should move.   5. Hola a todos!. Me estoy iniciando en el diseño en bender y actualmente termine un modelo riggeado para el cuerpo NAM Chibi. A mi percepción el peso de la piel esta perfecto, el cuerpo base fue proporcionado por el creador y el modelo gris creado por mi. Eh Exportado el modelo gris como collada.dae, y al momento de intentar subirlo como modelo a SL. no puedo incluir el peso de la piel No tengo idea como resolver este error, No tengo idea si tiene que ver con las dimenciones del modelo en Blender o en la forma en que debo exportarlo, alguien podria ayudarme? muchas gracias por su atencion
  6. Lots of new furniture is coming out with ridiculous and immersion breaking Bento facial expressions / animations. On my Catwa head I can't use my own animations or stop Bento furniture from making my face show silly and stupid expressions. I go to a lot of sims where I don't own the furniture so I cant turn them off at the furniture level. More and more furniture makers are adding silly Bento expressions to their products so this will just get worse and worse. Kind of defeats the purpose of buying expressions if they don't work when you are on furniture and its really important to me to control my own expressions during interactions. Are there any Bento head makers out there (Genus, LeLutka, Fiore) that allow you to ignore Bento furniture expressions and use your own? Or that just override the furniture when you use built in expressions. I know LAQ has a "Furniture" button for this in her Bento hud but it is currently not working. Thanks for any help!
  7. I started playing with making animations using new Bento bones lately and noticed a weird issue I haven't seen before. I've made an animation for a tail and uploaded it to SL but it somewhat degraded in quality. The first video is the animation as seen in Blender 2.78 and the second is inworld after export using Avastar 2RC9 .anim exporter option. I tried using BVH format but it completely scrambled up my animation to the point of not resembling the original one at all. The issue mostly appears in slower animations. I read somewhere that SL optimizes animations throwing out frames where there's only a small change from the last one, I tried changing fps of the animation, its length and speed but it didn't seem to change the resulting inworld animation. The only improvement I noticed was when I used NLA Editor and duplicated the animation a couple of times and lined up one after another, extending its length this way. The result was considerably closer to the original animation but still not as fluid. I'm curious to hear from other animators how to deal with this issue.
  8. I’m currently making a pose where I only need the torso on up to be completely still. Only the legs are slightly moving as I wanted it to for an animation I’m working on. I’m using the Avastar addon for Blender, I’m exporting the files as anim. when I use it on the avi once uploaded to SL everything is exactly how I want it to look other than the problem I’m encountering with the SLink hands. My avis SLink hands are moving making a grip then letting loose and so on repeatedly. When I do disable the idle on my SLink hands the pose works perfectly, so here’s my question. I’ve purchased poses from other creators such as FOXCITY, DB poses and Focus poses and never had I needed to go the extra route and turn off the idle on the SLink hands. I’m only turning off my Vista AO and everything works perfectly fine when I use their poses. So why is it when I’m creating an animation pose do I need to turn it off when other creator poses I never had to? Is there some sort of override step I’m missing in blender before I export? Do I need my FPS number to be larger or smaller and I’ve been exporting my anim with the fps number at 24, my priority is always at 3. One thing I will say is when I’m ready to export my anim the button I click is red, idk if that’s the problem? Is it possibly something I need to set up or check off in firestorm itself for the pose to work on SLink hands? I just don’t want other slink users to encounter this problem. Basically what is the secret that these other animators are doing for my SLink avatar to never have to disable the hand idle and the pose to work properly? I’ve tried reaching out to them and they never responded. Anyone please help I’ve been losing sleep ready to throw away my iMac from frustration 😂😂😂

    Advice on testing demo mesh heads

    Hello, I’ve been away from Second Life for a while and returned to a world of mesh heads - the Bento type ones seem the most up to date. I have 2 questions I'd appreciate some advice upon: (1) I've got got a couple of demo skins that I like (one from Nylon Outfitters & the other from Mynerva). Both skins and their demos have Omega appliers. Next, I wanted to demo some Bento heads. But of the heads I’ve tried (e.g. Genus, Catwah, LAQ, Logo, LeLutka etc) only Logo seems to have the ability to trial their demo heads with existing skins via Omega. I know it’s important to try out heads via demos, especially important to me as my skins choices are more quirky & not a ‘glam’ look. So .... - are we only meant to trial the heads with the skins provided in the demos? - or do I need to get a universal Omega applier Hud and use this to trial demo heads, if it works? (2) Could someone recommend a Bento mesh head with smallish lips? With the lovely Logo head that I’ve trialled with my skins, even when I adjust my mouth with the sliders, the upper lip becomes like a shelf! And the head looks better with larger & more protruding lip shapes.) Thanks everyone ☺️

    Posing Animations

    Hello everyone I am a new creator for sl and currently wanting to make poses and bento animated poses for sl. I had a question as far as importing the poses. I am wanting to make static poses for photography purposes. I use Blender and the Add-on Avistar for making the poses. I've followed and watched numerous YT videos and have read dozens of forums and blogs related to this topic but I'm having a hard time with my static poses. When I import them I noticed my avis fingers will wiggle and move giving off an animation instead of being completely still. Everything else on the avi is still but the fingers and slight hand movements. How do I stop this. Being that these poses are for photography purposes they need to be completely still. Is there a way to do that or video explaining this? Im sure I did something wrong but how would I go about fixing this issue? Any advice or help is greatly appreciated. Thank you

    Hello! help please! I tried to rig the bento mesh avatar for the first time, but I failed. it uploaded as simple mesh object. the usual skeleton works well. What is bento's difference from the usual? Need some kind of plugin? Why does not work in the usual way? i use blender/firestorm. thanks!

    Rigging gloves for Belleza Bento hands

    I have been working with Blender for mesh clothes creation for a year now, and have found my way around most problems I encountered so far. Most dev-kits have their own little quirks and once you know about them you can solve the problems they cause. One problem I have not gotten out of the way is rigging for Bento hands. Especially Maitreya and even more so: Belleza. Belleza's dev-kit bento hands can be imported and avastar can convert the rig, but does not provide the bones for the hands. Rigging to a standard avastar 2 skeleton really gives horrible results (deformed hands and fingers). The cause is most probably altered bones... Does anyone know how to properly set up the Belleza bento hands (or cheeky question: has a blend-file with a properly set-up set of belleza (bodies and) hands) in Blender + Avastar 2. Editing the skeleton bones for the hands seems like a world of pain on it's own...

    LAQ is having promo price for their latest release 300 L$. Really good price for a Bento head. It's a female head so no for guys. LAQ sells their HUD separately its regular price but you can probably wait until boxing day it'll probably get cheaper.

    okay, so i have a maitreya body. a catwa bento head, and a free AO (not sure where or which AO i should buy if need be?) what do i focus on next for making my avatar look the best she possibly can? any suggestions, tips, tricks, whatever it may be are welcome and greatly appreciated.

    Tattoo Hairbase Layers - LeLutka

    Very difficult to show in a photo because both the further away and the closer the camera, the more the lines vanish (so fickle!), but are most visible without looking through the lens: What isn't showing in the image are the two bold black stripes down the front of the neck (not just on the sides, which appear to be very small and faint in the image - trust me, they're not). I did take one creator's very kind suggestion to go into the HUD settings and hit Repair Transparency and Repair Materials, but they remain. I also tried rerouting, thinking that applying them to one of the other available tattoo layers would make them vanish; they remain as visible as ever. Not sure what's causing it or how to fix the problem. There's some great tattoo layer hairbases, but I can't use them. I can, however, use normal tintable hairbases without a problem, so not all is lost. This is only something that happens with tattoo layer bases and something that's bugging the living heck out of me. Anyone else noticing/experiencing same problem or is it - as usual - just me the technical gremlins enjoy driving insane? Just in case it's suggested - I've already done three re-deliveries, so I don't think it's that. It's got to be something I'm doing wrong but I can't - for the pixel life of me - figure out what.
  18. Hi folks, i want to upgrade but a little shy on funds at the moment, I JUST missed the signature sale by like 3 hours.. sigh.. that would have been ideal. I am interested in becoming mesh. I looked at the Ocacin and that just didn't to it for me. I'm sure its a nice body, but i want to keep looking. I don't mind spending some money, but 3500L for the body and 3500L for the head is a bit beyond my budget. TMP seems to be dated from what I've read. My budget is prob 3500L for the total package right now. does signature have those kind of sales often? i can wait it out if need be. not in a rush really. been around 11 years or so, a couple months wont kill me. Thanks!

    Light trouble with my AKERUKA head

    Hi, I meet a strange phenomena that change my head lighting as on the attached view. My graphics setting is beetwen High and Ultra and this trouble happen when "Advances Lighting Model" option is checked. I'm using a face light but it's same when I take it off. It's happen only in some area but often on dance floors maybe because lights is different. I tryed with 5 other head demos (Catwa, Lelutka, Slink, Genesis, Starlust) and didn't get any trouble with. Skin shinniness setting is off. Is someone encountered the same issue?

  21. Hello, I recently switched to an LAQ Bento Mesh head, and while it isn't perfect, I think it's pretty awesome and much better than the alternatives out there. One rather large problem I'm having with it however is that no one seems to be making skins for it. The LAQ skins seem to be all pretty much of a similar type and it's a type that I don't happen to like. I naively assumed that there would be third party skins for it just like all the other Bento heads out there and since LAQ's is one of the very best you can buy I was a bit surprised to find out that I can't find any skins other than LAQ's. I'm about 10,000 in on the LAQ head and skin options and I don't want to throw the investment away when a good skin would fix everything. The problem is that I'm a white, Nordic type person and I don't like the fashion model or "makeup-y" look. Out of the many skins available at LAQ, there are only like two that are even in the category. The lightest skin-tone on the LAQ spectrum (the 1.0" tone), is basically a very, very tanned white girl look as if the avatar has gone to the bronzing clinic and very shiny (as if we are all wearing makeup to the beach). All the rest are darker still and even more make-up-y. What I'm looking for is a "Nordic" white person skin, because that's what I am. Even the lightest LAQ skins, even with all makeup options turned off, have a lot of eyeliner and what looks like lipstick (although that might not be intentional). The LAQ eyebrows are also very thick and dark (even the light options). I'm certain this is the popular option and heavy brows are in keeping with what's popular in makeup today, but I'm old. I don't want to look like Kim Kardashian, I want to look like a white girl from the 1960's (i.e. my actual self). I realise different people have differing opinions, especially about makeup, and this isn't about me insulting LAQ, I just want to find a nice skin. Please only reply if you know of someone who makes skins for LAQ Bento heads. It will be pointless to have a thread with long arguments about whether my assessment of LAQ skins is accurate. As I said at the start, the LAQ Bento head is the best head I have found so far. I just don't like the skins and want something different from what is on offer.

    Stop face animations in Bento dances

    I read a recommendation for a dance club, and went there. The dances are so good, much better than any of mine old ones. But they are from Vista, and are animated for the Vista head. It makes havoc of the mouth in the Catwa heads, the Lelutka heads not so ugly, but not good either. Is it no way I can turn off the facial animation in my head, so the dance don't play it?

I'm back in SL after being mostly out of it for a few years beyond popping in to pay tier fees, and I was really excited to hear about the new Bento wing bones that all the new avatars supposedly have as wings are the main thing I create here. What I want to know is, how would I go about animating JUST the bento wing bones? I don't need articulated mesh, because these are fairy wings, so they move more like insect wings - basically flat panels that move back and forth from the base and that's it. I did find some Bento wing animations that were just the animations, but it didn't work out right and probably because the movements were made for angel or demon wings, which move differently. Are there tutorials for how to animate the bento bones by themselves, so that whatever is attached to those bones would move? What would I require, and is there any way to get it done in-world? I have a really old version of Poser, Blender and ZbrushCore (though I am new at both, or at least, rusty enough to seem new) and can't afford to shell out for anything like full Zbrush or Maya. I would love to be pointed in the right direction, or even to be told that animating the Bento wing bones in this way would not work for what I want so I can stop searching for info Thanks in advance! I did just buy an animation kit that works like the older one I used in SL, so if Bento isn't the way to go I'll just stick with animating them the older way. For reference, this is a set of my wings and that is one of the types of wing flutter I want along with a fast flutter and open/close positions, I'm just thinking doing it with the Bento bones would be better, right?
