  1. Hey! First time posting here, hoping someone could either tell me what I'm doing wrong or confirm whether or not this is a bug. Whenever I take a snapshot, the resulting image is never identical to what the second life viewer is showing; particularly with shadows, ambient occlusion and DoF, in short the effects from DoF and ambient occlusion that I'm seeing in the viewer are not present in the snapshot image or are greatly reduced. I have to really over apply DoF to see an effect on my snapshot, and no matter how I fiddle with ambient occlusion, its effects on shadows isn't evident on the snapshot image. Shadows will look smooth and accurate on my viewer, but a snapshot will produce random shadow artifacts and jagged edges as though ambient occlusion wasn't turned on. I've tested this on Alchemy's project viewer, LL's viewer and Firestorm (example below is from Firestorm. I would try Black Dragon as well but have yet to set up Parallels for it.). Every time I have graphics on Ultra, save for draw distance which I minimize. Quality of shadows is maxed when I can depending on the viewer, specifically on Firestorm I've tried to max/fiddle with the extra shadow and ambient occlusion settings to no avail. I will add that I'm on a M1 iMac and am getting decent performance regardless of settings, so I don't believe it's because of hardware but I could be wrong. First image is a Gyazo screen capture to attempt to show what the viewer is displaying, smooth shadows and no weird artifacts. Second image is a copy of my high-res snapshot, shadows are suddenly not smoothed out and appear in random positions, as though ambient occlusion was not turned on.
  2. I'm on Linux, so I cannot use the LMR test viewer. I was visiting one of the editor's picks, Beira da Ribeira, using Firestorm and Singularity viewers. Singularity still uses the Windlight renderer, and I used the shared environment. The sunlight is a bit too bright, but wouldn't that be expected in a tropical jungle? I saved a few pictures and came back in Firestorm. Again, I used the shared environment. However, wanting to try to replicate that high contrast look I got in Singularity, I turned up the gamma a bit and lowered the ambient color with Personal Lighting. It struck me how poorly the water shadows on Firestorm compared to Singularity, even being completely absent in some situations. I'm not picking on Firestorm in particular. It just happens to be the EEP viewer I use the most. Also, this is not the first time that something seemed 'wrong' with the EEP water, but as you can see from the images below, it's quite a contrast in this case. No sky or water preset made in Firestorm made any difference. Using the shared environment without tweaks didn't make any difference. Firestorm at the edge of the jungle: Singularity at the edge of the jungle: Firestorm at the village: Singularity at the village:
  3. So, i usually take snapshots and they end up just fine but after last update there's this glitch that make some of the shadows have very ugly harsh lines. Info that might help: The shadows are perfect while ingame, the lines only appear on the saved snapshots. It happens when i'm with advanced lighting model on. I never had this problem before. I use Firestorm Viewer and NVIDIA Graphics Card. The lines are more noticeable in high contrast of lights and shadows, so i presume it has something to do with it, but i don't know. Heeelp.
  4. Any chance at fixing shadows? shadows can make the scene look nicer but in second life shadows feel broken in the engine with ultra preset under 10 fps turn shadows off over 40 fps computer https://valid.x86.fr/9v0vjw
  5. Hi there. I hope I posted this in the right place. I'm just wondering if someone can help me out. I've been using a customised texture on my avatar 2.0 body for a long time now, but just recently, I've noticed that under certain lighting, the shading is all strange. some of my body parts pick up the colours cast by lights in the room, whereas my body won't, and appears a different shade than the rest of my parts. be it lighter or darker. I've tried to fix the problem, by grabbing my texture from the Cache, then creating a new file in photoshop, then re-uploading it. but that didn't work. I tested my avatar with the standard avatar 2.0 texture, and that seems to look totally normal. but if I pull that texture from the cache, then re-upload that, it acts the same as my texture. I'll include some screenshots so you can see what I mean. If someone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it. this is driving me nuts! xD
  6. Hi there - I wonder if someone can help me. I have a macbook pro and recently it seems whenever i try and take photos (particularly landscape ones) using advanced lighting and shadows - as soon as i click snapshot and the window comes up it crashes as it tries to produce the pic for me to then click save to disc. So I never get to the save to disc point. Does anyone have any recommendations or a list of setting for photography that best suit the macbook and still enable shadows etc. Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Okay.. so now that many people have to disable basic shaders.. now what do we do? Multiple viewers have to have them off or I get that stupid pink texture screw up on various items.. so now what? shadows and such used to work just fine.. my video and graphics and processor are all rather up there. I can run Second Life on Ultra and keep it there, otherwise, and still have background processes if I need to have them running.. so what now? Is there a second option for Shaders that I have not been told about or found out about? I would love to have the beauty of Second Life and it's creations, again, without excess error textures.
  8. Hello. What's the best viewer for taking photographs and how can I take pictures of the interior of a house with shadows activated but not have the interior become dark? Thank you.
  9. I have shadows not prims coming from what seems to be my land over to my neighbors on the "World Map". Not sure what would be the cause and how to correct it. I did notice as i flew up to 4096m on the mini map shadows from the neighbours lot over mine. We have in all cases built to the border is there any way to stop this from showing on the world map the neighbour is not appreciative of the shadows. Any information or advice would be appreciated.
