Like a sinner before the gates of Heaven.

Well Heaven you have Meat and Ronnie now (and far too many others). Thats got to be a hell of a Band.
I have been floored by this. I do most online stuff in places that are more - well, politically raw and nasty. This has cut all across.

And I think somebody somewhere must be tolling a bell

Omg Jim's gone too?  How did I not know that?  I feel like my world is ending!

He passed away in April last year.

Turned out to be getting the vaccine.

He wasn't a well man, hadn't been for a long time, whether he had the vaccine or not, he was unlikely to have been strong enough to fight covid.

RIP big man.

Will you raise me up?
Will you help me down?
Will you get me right out of this Godforsaken town?
Will you make it all a little less cold?

Will you hold me sacred?
Will you hold me tight?
Can you colorize my life I'm so sick of black and white?
Can you make it all a little less old?

Will you make me some magic with your own two hands?
Can you build an emerald city with these grains of sand?
Can you give me something I can take home?

Will you cater to every fantasy I got?
Will you hose me down with holy water, if I get too hot! (HOT)?
Will you take me places I've never known?

After a while to forget everything
It was a brief interlude and a midsummer night's fling
And you'll see that its time to move on

I know the territory
I've been around
It'll all turn to dust
And we'll all fall down
And sooner or later you'll be screwing around

These lyrics were all sung by Lorraine Crosby

After each of the 1st 4 verses, Meatloaf sings  "I can do that"

But the last 2 he reverts back to "I won't do that"

In context of a love song, which this obviously is, he is saying he will never leave, or do anything to harm you. That how I interpret the lyrics.

Oddly, Crosby got no credit for the song, because she had been brought as a "guide" singer for the recording session. She was later asked if they could use her voice on the official cut. Because she was considered a session singer, she was not given any royalties  On the album she is listed as "Mrs. Loud"  Bonnie Tyler later chastised Meat for treating Crosby that way.

Dana Patrick lip-synced the in the video for the song.

Meat promoted the song with Patti Russo.

Such is the recording business.

Here is Crosby as a solo singer.

Apparently she did a lot of covers. Don't think this is one.

I will never leave you "no i won't do that" .

Something of a personal theme perhaps recalling Paradise by the dashboard light .

"Will you love me forever!

I couldn't take it any longer
Lord I was crazed
And when the feeling came upon me
Like a tidal wave
I started swearing to my god and on my mother's grave
That I would love you to the end of time
I swore that I would love you to the end of time!
So now I'm praying for the end of time
To hurry up and arrive
'Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you
I don't think that I can really survive
I'll never break my promise or forget my vow
But God only knows what I can do right now
I'm praying for the end of time
It's all that I can do
Praying for the end of time,
So I can end my time with you!"

If i remember correctly, Meat died on stage some 25 years ago and was revived ?

Wholly unfair that he will probably get the lifetime achievement award he has long deserved posthumously .

The other day I saw someone saying that, about 10 years later, he decided to put that right. So something somewhere credits her with it.

Maybe but I've not seen anything official.  I will check into it.

The issue is that had she gotten proper credit at that time, it is quite possible her career would/could have been far different. Instead there was the impression with the video and promotions that it was someone else.

Getting a "Gee, I'm sorry. My bad" 29 years later is a bit late.
