The end of gachas is sadly not the end of the ill nature of some people.

Return to spender
Return to spender
I gave a support ticket to the linden team
They put it their sack
Bright early next morning
They gave my ticket back

(they wrote upon it)

Return to spender, address unknown
No such gacha, no such zone

I tried to have a quarrel, a lover's spat
I write I'm sorry but my gacha keeps coming back

So then I dropped it in a linden IM box
And sent it special D
Bright and early next morning
It came right back to me

(they wrote upon it)

Return to spender, address unknown
No such gacha, no such zone

This time I'm gunna take it to the forums and put it in their hand
And if it comes back the very next day then I'll try to not understand

(they wrote upon it)

Return to spender, address unknown
No such gacha, no such zone
Return to spender

Return to spender...

  1. These are people willingly participating in a fantasy adult roleplay. I suggest you don't participate and avoid the subject entirely as it's obviously upsetting.
  2. Adult work is work, valid and something else entirely. Have you tried avoiding adult workers too, I'm sure they would appreciate it.
  3. Stop torturing yourself obsessing over what other people are happily and willingly enjoying in a fully consensual setting that harms no one. It's unhealthy.
  4. What have you got against dogs? Seriously dude. Leave the good puppers alone.

So what do you have against people playing gachas? If they want to play, then good for them. I know, you don't like gambling. But some people do.  But talk about ending slave auctions, well you defend that activity. Theres no problem with that. But you do want to ban other stuff, like gachas. Only Fans was in the news a while back about porn being on their website. Some banks had stopped doing business  with them. Now that they have found banks that will do business with them, they will now allow porn.

But what about slave auctions? Will banks, or credit card companies do business with LL, if they find out that SL has slave auctions?

As for dogs, I have nothing against dogs.  What do you have against gachas? If you don't like them, then don't play the machines.

No one here banned gachas.  Take your shenanigans to LL and ask them.

As for slave auctions, if online role play becomes illegal or censored in some countries, then yeah, maybe they will have to put a stop to it.  But you're basically paying for someone's time.  You're not really buying a person.  No guarantee if you're going to enjoy that time.  Just like anything else purchased.  You may like it and you may not.  Such is life.

You DO realize no one is actually being sold?  You can buy me at an auction but when I want to log out, I will.  If I don't like what you tell me to do, I won't do it.  It's role play.  That dog avatar really isn't a dog either.  Just sayin'.

They even have ads on TV, (I've seen at friends places cause I don't have a TV), during

Ironically the name of the betting company is called: Ladbrokes = Broke Lads. 😂

Could you explain to us how Maryanne's statement indicates that she was advocating for banning gacha machines?

Most of the posters here were singing the praises of gacha being banned. If I go back and look, I would see several post saying that it was great that gachas were being banned.

As for slave auctions, the same thing was being said about A.P. That the child avatars were being controlled by those 18, and over. That still didn't matter. Robin Linden was interviewed by a German reporter. The reporter showed Robin pictures of RL child porn that was being passed out at ***** brothels. Some of these were advertised as girls schools, but weren't.

Now we have slave auctions. We now live in a Me too era, and cancel culture era. So I can see LL putting an end to slave auctions at some point in the future. Its not just the aucti

on, but the violence that some players do. Some might involve r***, or torture. I saw a woman a couple of months ago standing on abandoned land, wearing a strait jacket, and her mouth covered up. She was doing that for a law she broke with her mistress.

Just look at some old movies. On Disney+, they now have disclaimers on some old movies like Dumbo. One day, when a TV station shows I Love Lucy, they might have a disclaimer saying "Warning, Violence against women shown". And the part that the warning is for, is when Rickey gives Lucy a spanking. And to me, that would be dumb. Just like Disney+ putting disclaimers on its old movies.

Whether people liked gachas or hated them had no bearing whatsoever on LL's decision to ban them.  End of story.

Gachas were banned because some countries are now banning items like those.  That and ONLY that is the reason for the ban.

Depictions of AP, whether real or not, are illegal almost everywhere.  That is why it's illegal in SL.

ROLE-PLAYING slave auction or BDSM is not illegal as far as I'm aware.  Yes, of course, real life slavery is illegal.  This isn't that.  Apples and oranges.  Move on.

The woman in the straight jacket was there because she CHOSE to be there.  She was role playing.  It's not illegal.

Gachas and slave auctions have nothing in common at all.

Find some other windmill to tilt at or don't.

No country has talked to LL about gachas. None. It is the result of one new owner. He doesn't like gachas. And even if a country did protest to LL about gachas, all LL has to do is confine gachas to certain islands. Just like games of skill. You live in a country that doesn't allow gachas, then you can't go to that island. That is not hard to do.

We get it - you honestly believe your own little fantasy concerning LL's ownership change.

That is not reality - at all. Period.

Deal with it, stop grasping at straws and pulling straw men (as well as Fruit to Mineral comparisons) out of your waste disposal chute.

You. Are. Not. Helping. Anyone. At. All.

This is at the start of their explanation..

Due to a changing regulatory climate, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to sunset a very popular sales mechanism for content in Second Life.  It’s widely known as "gacha", and is defined by a chance-based outcome as a result of a payment.

It is great. Gambling addiction is a real psychological problem that affects peoples real lives, not to mention the practice is predatory and anti consumer.

Which are entirely consensual fantasy roleplays where both the person being auctioned and the buyer are well aware of what they are getting themselves into and can opt out at any moment (with no strings).

It may surprise you to discover that most "slaves" know the "buyer" well in advance of the actual event, and a significant amount of communication, interplay and negotiation about acceptable  actives will have happened out of character between all parties before the auction even takes place!

It's a thrilling setting that gives role-players a way to advance their characters stories in a way that fits the context in which they are roleplaying.

This is consensual roleplay.

No one is being harmed and any participant may opt out at any moment for any reason without repercussions.

Just like running someone down with a car in SL isn't an actual traffic violation.

Didn't you ever play pretend ?

On the other hand, how do you define something as gambling when there are multiple stores on the marketplace making a good business from reselling their "losses"?

Well that's the problem all along, and is why there are 200 pages of arguments.  If LL would actually provide some specific detail about this changing regulatory climate, all the speculation should end.  Quoting the laws from a couple countries in Europe is silly.  The sun rises in the morning, as a reason would be about as useful.

Everyone thinks they know the reason, based on what?  LL has no problem with gambling on their gaming regions, and calling it skilled play is just a smoke screen.

200 pages of arguments suggests there is something to argue about.

Next LL sweeping rule change:  All male avatars, including RL people claiming a male gender, are banned from SL effective October 1, 2021.  No specific reasons given.

LL owns SL, their rules.  What's to argue about?

I haven't been in on the 200 pages of back and forth , I only know they did what they did and what they said when they told us..

All the holding of breath isn't gonna get them to change it back, so no need for me to dig any deeper than what they said themselves.

Besides if history has taught us anything around here, They could have been even more transparent, but there still would have been all the arguing.. Because a lot of it from what I can tell is, Gacha good, Gacha bad, arguing more than anything.

Just about anything LL changes usually has threads with arguing.. It hasn't really gotten anyone anywhere..

A lot, but do bear in mind it will be futile as those 200 pages. LL's 'mind', for whatever reason(s) is set. Your output here will not change that.
