I sometimes set myself quests, like ride along as much of the mainland highway as I can and stop at anything interesting, or search everything owned by Linden Dept of Public works and visit it (found some odd little places) or open the map, pick some random corner of mainland and teleport to it.

I especially like finding really old things. In short, SL archeology.

Inventory sorting: okay, not a 'fun activity' perhaps - but put on some music, or if you have two monitors (or just a ton of monitor real estate), pop on a film or a series, open a few chats, and do it. Make a pot of tea, pop a cat on your lap, and have at it! You'll be glad you did later!

Cackles maniacally, and happy-cries, both at once.

agreed on this, in group chat always heard people have massive items in their inventory

Learn to be a Griffer!

Bug people for L$ and buy stuff!

Try your hand at being an AFK worker, Dancer, Escort..

Try being a Furry, or non-Furry (if you're already a Furry)

Join a Combat group!

Fight Zombies!

Join a Vampire group, like Bloodlines!

So much to do..

FYI, I thought back on this post and realized that while the list is supposed to be "funny" stereotypes, it does represent a real "high probability list" of things to do in Second Life for many users.

Whilst there's not a horse rezzer at the welcome hub I have seen at least half a dozen newbies on horses and I wonder if there must be a starter avvie that comes with a horse, and yes there is a bike rezzer I've seen quite a few newbies try.

There's a brand new SLRR station at the Bellihub with a huge rail bridge to the newest lands and SLRR is well catered for in all the belli lands. As a slrr fan I'm glad it's not fallen by the wayside as the lands develop.

More games nearer the landing zone at the welcome hub is a good idea imho.

1. Destination Guide is one of my favourite recommendations to all.  New ones open up often, many are Newcomer Friendly and many offer some nice gifts/souvenirs.

2. Passport Stamp-collecting activity is interesting and free and can be done alone or in a group.  Going through the process at the Bellisseria Bureau of Bureaucracy has made me LOL when I encounter some RL bureaucracy 😁

3. Try some wearable vehicles and visit whatever piques interest on the Second Life Geography page of the Knowledge Base

https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Second_Life_Geography

I run out of time every day in SL long before I can finish my ever-growing ToDo List 🥰

I read the posts)) Oh, not what I sometimes did in SL, oh, not that... but here's what I'll say:
1. I'm a noob - my advice is to visit free places where they will dress you, shoe you, teach you something (http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Firestorm%20Social%20Island/107/121/ 33) (http://maps .secondlife.com/secondlife/Gallii/179/21/32)
2. I'm a noob - I run around looking for free - gifts from the group - when I lead the group, you can take a few gifts (sometimes they change and are quite nice), I stop at the shops to buy something for LETTER (the initial of your nickname), it could be a chair to sit on, or a poster to click on, or something else.
3. I'm a noob - I'm looking for money (not escort or sex services - not acceptable for me) I hunt for items, coins, crystals (Mermaid and others), I'm a fisherman (5 fishermen and more, choose your favorite) but in some cases an age of at least 2 months is required, in some it is not necessary. everyone will be given the first fishing rod and bait - and then you already buy.
4. I visit Portal Park (an interesting place, something is constantly changing)
5. I click on the PLACES tab and jump into beautiful parks. There are horses, motorcycles, water slides, balloons and airplanes, there are boats and yachts, there is Tai Chi)).
6. I visit free (and when I save up - paid) dance clubs (of various topics. I like ballrooms, dancing with a partner or on a touchpad)) Read carefully what you can wear there! Clubs sometimes invite singers and musicians - it's very cool. DJs and DJs gather large groups of fans who follow them to parties and discos))
7. I am looking for a part-time job, I find locations with games (where a lot of things are collected) hunting, fishing, and good places with animations for hugs)).
8. There are sandboxes, but I like security - I shoot a skybox with a security system), I change the houses according to my mood - I take a lot of photos with animation)
9. In addition to the fact that my friends build and tinker, sculpt in a blender, open shops - many of them are also engaged in farming. There are farms for breeding worm bait. There are farms that grow everything for users - meat, milk, fish, vegetables, fruits and much more. There are people who like it, there is a market and regular buyers. A farm requires land - it is bought or rented (later, if you decide))
10. I want to say a special thank you to the landowners)) People who rent or own land are very creative, there are many beautiful places where you can visit and see beauty. (even on my zero graphics)
11. There are retro places, old Paris, London, Rome, Venice, Bremen. They create and decorate cities, villages of different cultures and nations
12. A separate link - family, bloodline, lycans, emperios and others))😘

Something I don't do often, but was reminded of yesterday how astonishingly intricate it can be - put out fires!

There's everything from simple hand extinguishers to fire trucks and even ships and helicopters with water cannons, and though you could well spend thousands of L$ on vehicles and putting together the perfect fire fighter outfit, and of course a build to be putting out, the basic starter kit is entirely free. There are several local fire brigades, particularly around the airports of the grid, but you could also just let loose a fire in your home and see if you can put it out before the whole thing is covered in flames!

  • Grab a few friends and go to animation stores to play with the group dances. The sillier the better.

This is one of my favourite things to do, but I end up buying all the dances! Most clubs don't have a dance ball as comprehensive as mine. For really fun dances (and some silly ones, too), check out A&M Mocap Danceworks, so awesome.

Lmao, that's the store I was thinking of when I wrote that. It's sooooo good. I even use some of their dances in my normal AO as stands. 😄

Let's have a kiki!

1. Search the marketplace and other locations for freebies and try to build the nicest looking or goofiest looking avatar you can make. Experiment... a lot!

2. Visit beaches or parks and take nice photos, experimenting with lighting and photo editing (I still suck at this part).

3. Make an alt and roleplay between them and your main for some creative writing practice.

I know I'm sort of late to this party, but I thought of some things that not everyone has mentioned yet.

Dance naked in sandboxes until you get kicked out.

Fly to the topmost areas of sims and then fall back down, to see if you hit anything (misplaced prims, etc.) on the way back down.

Fly up high enough to cross banlines, and then hover over the parcel, going "nyah, nyahhhhh" at the parcel owners. Most satisfying if they are home at the time.

Find the one spot on a sim that is set to disallow avatars to see you, fly up to about 2000 meters, and see how long it is before someone parks right under your dot so they can cam on you. Then TP down next to them and say, "sup".

Park in malls and pose like a bot for hours, to see if anyone notices.

Play poltergeist by flushing your cruddy neighbor's toilet & flapping the lid up and down, turning on their fireplace, etc., from across the sim. Filling their apartment with exploding chickens is fun too, but only if the sim owner approves.

Wear non-rigged mesh clothing, and act like you don't notice that it isn't moving with you.

Put on 4 pairs of wings and toruses covered in repeating eye textures, turn everything full bright and add glow, then appear before newbies in the welcome areas, claiming to be the voice of the only true authority in Second Life. Then tell them not to be afraid, and give them the landmark for Freebie Galaxy.

If I think of more I will add them.

One surprisingly popular SL activity is:

Spending over a decade and a half constantly complaining that it's not exactly like the place you escaped from by climbing into a rusty 40 gallon oil drum and using a stolen bdsm spanking paddle to row across the sea to Noob islands refugee reception dock, and enduring Customs/Immigration/De-Lousing in search of a SecondLife free from the oppression and poverty back in "The Old Country Platform".

If you didn't come here from some oppressive 3rd World platform, you could always lie roleplay, and say you are a Boat Person from Tropico, or Settlers, or some other old game.

:D

I've tried that. But with very limited success.
I was only asking for directions...

That's me on the left.

I build new avatars (mesh and system) as like a hobby now, putting them together piece by piece trying to make them look as realistic (for SL standards) yet unique as I possibly can. An avatar is my canvas and the mouse is my brush; the only limit is my imagination.
