How many hours per month did you work? Now I’m really curious to see more actual job experiences and wages vs what is advertised. I gather you made 80-90% of your tips and then your club took a portion? Or not?

40 hours a month with 5 2-hour shows per week, and/or 2 on Saturday, no shows Sunday. I made 80%, the club took 20%.  I wonder what the average stripper makes today.  I thought we made good money at the time but I have nothing to compare it too.

The best way to make loads of money is to open up a club. You need a dance floor, lights, a stage, DJs providing the music and some hosts to make everyone feel at home. The more flashy lights the better. You also need to look the part of a club owner so buy the best avatar you can buy. Do all that and watch the money roll in!

I worked as a hostess for six years about before my hearing loss made it impossible for me to comfortably continue. I would make around 300L on a good night because I was an attentive, polite and personable hostess. It paid for my home, my daughter's necessities and savings I could put towards things I wanted or needed in SL. I worked three hour shifts/five days a week. I've never heard of anyone making 500K Linden per week working as host, DJ, CSR, etc.

Successful content creators work long hard hours to make their businesses lucrative. It also takes time and dedication to learn the necessary skills. Same with land moguls who run estates.

I get being ambitious, but it seems far reaching for not even having a set plan of action for yourself.

I know a more well-known content creator (from before mesh) who Everyone assumed made mad bank and was living the SLife... crowded store, well attended parties and sales, LE items always sold out etc...but I know for a fact that they returned to their close to minimum wage retail sales job because it paid more than their SL businesses, hours were shorter and the job had insurance benefits. They told me.

Ummm I would thing a career as a YouTuber or Tik Toker would be more doable for the "I don't want to get a real job" type than trying to make in big in SL......

So i know a combination of owning homes, clubs, doing escort jobs, hunting lodges etc will eventually accumulate.

Theresa Tennyson thinks to herself, "Yes, accumulate debt."

But she doesn't say that because she needs to work on keeping her sassy tongue in check.

She then realizes that using text to think means everyone can see what she's thinking anyway.

"Dammit," she mutters.

when the venues are jumping and the grids busy, I can clear GBP40 or so in profit on a weeks performances. That's usually 4-6 sets. Each hours set is 90min of work including prep and soundcheck before each one. Each weeks setlist will have had on average 3 hours of rehearsal the week before.

When the grid is quiet and thus so are the venues I struggle to clear expenses (stream hosting, spare strings, wear and tear on gear)

There's more of the latter type of weeks than the former. The last two years I declared less than a grand to the taxman from SL each year.

You can't live on it, but it can pay for itself  plus a little bit for my pride. And those "little bits" do add up. By squirreling away every penny of it I could over 18 months I was able to cover just over half the cost of the new guitar needed to replace my 35-year-old workhorse that I finally had to admit was too far gone for a luthier to get back into performance trim and grant it an honorable retirement. The rest came from pre-COVID live gigs.

I can’t speak for adult services, but from my experience the only way you will hit that number is be in the top tier of content creation preferably women’s fashion.  Or churn a serious volume in home and garden with at least 3 releases a month and have a cracking PR approach and brand “style” and run it as your own business.

I had 6 shops once and loved it even though it was very hard work. 2kL on a good week... BUT...

As Syo and prolly many others might have mentioned,
Your time is much  better spent running a RL business.
Certainly I couldn't have done it, (RL), unless I got up the courage to do so in SL.
So always focus on "what can I do?" THEN take it to RL.

Point in case? Curiosity about making 3d mesh.
Which is now my >paid< hobby and I haven't even "opened" my little RL company properly.

It's scary to consider starting a business right now with the world economies so fragile, a possible collapse of the dollar, a shift to silver and gold.

As far as making big money in SL, I think a clothing maker with super cute, super sexy, great fitting clothes that allows the customer to pick their own color instead of having any preset colors could be a big winner.  I say this because I am constantly NOT buying many clothes because the colors are awful, just awful.  I have to settle for white or black, sometimes a brown or camel and I am disappointed in just white or black as my options.  But, also I think the clothes should be more affordable than say 1299 linden per fatpack.  I am looking at two companies right now for clothing that I actually like very much and their colors are so-so blah but passable and their fatpacks are under one thousand per fatpack.   So for a SL business... great colors and/or ALL colors with a tinter instead of a preset tinter and a lower price I think could be a huge hit, especially fatpacks around 699.  These items just copy, the lower the price, the more would sell, I think.

To the OP I would say, find the talent to make the clothes, back them, but then one has to wait for "pay day".  I've heard it takes about two years in RL to start making a profit from a new business.  It may or may not be the same here 'if' it's a superb product and price.   But, still, it's approximately 2 years of running a business in RL before profit.  Most of the money needs to be put back into the business for the first two years.

I hope we don’t see more race to bottom on prices.   699 for a fat pack is fine for a sale, but under priced for a “regular” level of sales of an item imho.   I like your Idea on colors though.

RL businesses can vary if you have little start up costs you can be in profit quickly.   Many start up businesses that require significant investment can take years as you mention.

That all depends.  Are they individual parcels or just sky boxes stacked on one parcel.  If sky boxes sharing a parcel, what is the prim allowance per renter?  Will you be providing furnished boxes?  Personally, most people would be wary of renting from such a new avatar.  There are established businesses with a good record that I'd rent from first.  The company I rent from has been around since 2007.

Well, the world economies are changing Charlotte and not in a good way.  If the dollar collapses which it will, import prices for the U.S. will sky-rocket causing American's to have less spending money, so this is a buyer's market unlike any buyer's market before.  A buyer's market means the buyers have the upper hand and are sellers willing to make a sale and cut their price or not?  It's the way of the world in business.

Also, with a SL business as opposed to a real life business, there is no risk in the utter madness of import price fluctuations in SL as there are going to be in real life.

When times get tough, perhaps even a depression, the tough need to get going and sometimes need to get going on a new business plan altogether.  This is not a seller's market coming down the pike; but a buyer's market of unprecedented proportions and a buyer's market where the buyer will have far less to spend.  So, consumers will either cut down or search out sales.

I love the idea of being able to have a lot of colors too because I cannot tell you the lost sales for creator's here where I've passed because the colors are awful.  I'd prefer to wear color over black or white.

Yes, most my landlord's are at least 10 years old and I would be leary of a new avatar I have to honestly say. Plus, my landlord's give me 1 linden per 1 LI except an old mall where I am currently at.  But, most of my rentals have been 1 linden per 1 LI and I could still get that price today.

I just can't see anyone making 500K a week on land rentals if you are not a Linden or a Chung.

My last job on here was playing guitar and lead singer for tribute bands. I got paid by the gig, but if I were going to tag a number on it by a weekly pay scale then let's just say I don't get out of bed for less then 5K a week mate. ;)

currently have my sights set on renting out some properties.. what do they usually pay out per month on minimum?

little example just a calulation

maintenance fee full regioin to pay at LL (by you!)$ 229 monthly ( depending on location add 20% VAT !)
rental from a established Landlord $66.25 weekly = 287.08 monthly

the maintenance fee doesn't include the upfront buying cost... set up for a fp region 349 .. so you will get no profit at all in the first 6 months ...
also make a fund for the time parcels/regions aren't rented out

you'll need a serious amount of regions to start with to get at your desired 500.000 weekly income...
Calculate your hours work, your staff you have to pay (cant do it alone with many regions)
calculate your rental system.. webdesign, marketing and other support for your businesss

profit: in L$ and $ ....0
profit will come.. but need patience and many regions.

OR give extraordinary service, extraordinary designed regions .. in that case you can ask your renters more.
But youll need even more time to set up because of the decoration and landscaping.

At the moment there's no new delivery of regions, and prices are all on the market, not by LL, and very high because regions are rare .. not really a good time to start.

The thing about virtual clothes/furniture/combat weapons, when the textures and mesh are uploaded, it is no more cost. It is not like RL where you must buy fabric and hire a team to sew, to fill up as you sell. Unless you need a store - and you can manage only with demos - you have the money besides the part LL/Tilia takes for using the MP and for cashing out.

Well, who are you trying to convince? Obviously you have this all figured out. So again, slap down your $250 and come back to us in a few months and show us just how easy it is to do. You're wasting time here trying to prove to us that it can be done and getting defensive.

I'm sure we'd all love to be proven wrong.

When I was first in SL years and years ago, the person who invented the slex bed was also rumored to be a millionaire but he had a monopoly on it at the time.  Now everyone can make a slex bed or furniture and/or there are sex huds where you don't even need furniture.  Starting at ground level is always more lucrative, imo.  I was a starter in Ebay in the late 1990's.  Far less competition on Ebay then as opposed to today.
