  1. I get it, why you lose the faith. I kindly disagree. It will happen, eventually. It may even take far longer than even I could anticipate (I'm thinking at least another year,) but I have no doubt it *will* happen. Bringing back last names has be a rallying cry ever since they switched to "Resident" - and switching that back would be a drop in the bucket. But then doing that would just anger all of those stuck with a Resident last name (because they'd have to create a new account to get a different last name). So the only real option (logically-speaking) is to make the changing of the last name a reality. I believe OZ and Ebbe realize how important this is to long-time "residents" and though it may not be harped on or complained about vocally or loudly, it really is a sore spot with a lot of people (being stuck with Resident as a last name).
  2. It's not the "game" - it's the content - which is created by other users. Give Catznip a go, I get much better performance from it than I do Firestorm, though your mileage may vary. As for being a "fat pig" -the viewer footprint of (even the fat Firestorm) on your hard disk is a helluvalot leaner that 90% of the apps you have. So... it may not be a tinker toy you use, but still a hand-shovel in comparison to what you should have, based on your description of performance, perhaps.~shrugs~
  3. Which version, Firestorm? Catznip? Black Dragon? Kokua? Official Viewer? Which fat pig of a game are you playing? Because... I'm not seeing what you are seeing. Do not bring tinker toy to where Constructor Dumpers are the preferred vehicle.
  4. Because hypocrisy is the life-force of SL, donchaknow? "My opine trumps your opine!" ~Braces for political retribution, now. Because readers dunn read.~
  5. Thank you (really, thank you for the compliment). My primary duty in my day job is (rewriting) and creating and reading, proofing and all that stuff for Training manuals. So I have lotsa practiceseses.
  6. @Alyona Su it was one of the first few posts on the first page. Precisely - they did not say [paraphrasing] "These are..." - they said "there are" as in "there exists...". I believe the intent of that comment was to bring attention to commenters experiencing these to double-check whether their invaders where these or not. Courtesy Copy: @Sparkly Rainbow
  7. Like these? https://bit.ly/2kHZL10
  8. Let's be fair: some have stated that "there are survey bots and some of these could be those." I don't think anyone specifically claimed that's what these were actually those, though I'm not sure because too many posts to comb through just so I can say I'm right, but I R RITE, DANGIT!!!! ~snorts~
  9. This is absolutely true. The next most popular is the Avatar 2.0 (also by Utilizator) and others made by him. Utilizator have, perhaps, the top 3 or 4 Anime mesh bodies and heads on the market, the next being Orange Nova. His mesh heads are more or less the defacto standard.
  10. I dunna-think you can make ban lines in a sandbox and neither would a security orb of any kind work very well there as you could be Abuse-Reported as a griefer. Just saying. Because you do not quote anyone so it must be presumed you reply to the Original Post. You *DID* actually read it, right?
  11. It is on "Hawai'ian time" so it will be here when it gets here, not early or late, but perfectly on-time.
  12. Oh, I understand it perfectly! That's the creator's message: "Do not ever buy anything from me, turn around and run as fast as you possibly can and tell everyone you know about it"
  13. I'm positive I heard that it is a sure-bet that it will be release before December 26th. Honest and for true! (Maybe ask in FS groups for faster answer?) And I know you know I'm just funnin' - but feel a need to say that for the snowflakes. LOL
  14. Oh, Since this is a render-cost thread (or whatever the hell it's called now, Complexity Score? Ugh) - I thought I would add this: I have a Merrow (mermaid) mesh avatar (full head and body) that fully dressed and decked out with every single option has a complexity of 6,435 <- NOT A TYPO. And the LOD is utterly amazing - Zero breakdown or deforming whatsoever, even from the other side of the sim. MOAR creatorz like thiz, PLZ.
  15. I always ask why they use it. Most that I ask say someone said they should (about 80% or so of those say it was suggested, the others say they were told LL viewer bad, must use FS ~shrugs~) - Though, more importunely, or rather, more surprising to me is that maybe 30-50% of those I ask say there's nothing special about the features, they rarely mess with preferences at all. Hahaha! Most of the FS features are also in Catznip, though I do appreciate how they are all combined into the Settings widget on FS, where with Catznip: they are scattered through the system, but I also appreciate how Catznip is a near zero learning curve when coming from the Official LL viewer. Though, to be fair: My sampling doesn't even make a ripple in the pool of users using it LOL! I thinks it's all really moot, other than when people try to offer help and always provide FS-specific methods without stating it is an FS-specific method; they should specifically state it is FS method.
  16. Perhaps, but this isn't the 1800s. I'm not old enough to link mourning with the wearing of black. ~cough, cough~
  17. I rarely comment on others' works, but I want to say beautiful. I am a lover of *basic simplicity*; "less is more" is a concept I am all-in on. I find this a gorgeous picture because the simplicity of it just feels like "breath of fresh air" - as in "light and airy". Since my rambling is turning to gibberish, I'll just stop now. And black has always been the new black and always will be.
  18. Actually, there is a massively huge difference. By your general idea of no technical difference of how such a thing works, then why does your car not just "go" after starting it up? You always have to manually put it into gear first. Should it automatically do that for you if you're looking through the windshield? What about if you turn your head to reverse, seems to me the car should just switch gears that way. Technical perspectives are a thing, actually. I suggest you perform an experiment to see for yourself: put in a support ticket and complain that you must abandon land that you own before downgrading to basic, even though you still have time remaining on your subscription and that the "automatic expiration timer" that does this is not functioning. I'm sure inquiring minds all over the forums would like to know the answer you receive.
  19. Theoretically speaking, the "photography" aspect shouldn't matter at all as it's supposed to be about how your avatar looks right now. Though some use this thread as a means to showcase their photo-skillz (and nothing wrong with that, it's even fun) - I see that as just a little icing of the real treat: the subject of the pictures. And, if that's an Aesthetic avatar then it appears you've changed the head. If that is true that YAY! Good call! Kudos! Not-another-doppelg... okay, enough now.
  20. I've always found this redundant phrase endearing: More Better!
  21. The difference is that the estate owners (private regions) always owns the entire region; when you "buy" land on a private estates, that "ownership" is like a temp-rezz attachment - it's not really there. You don't actually own that parcel, it's more like a "super-manager" access, true ownership never changes. This is the reason it does not require a premium subscription: you are not actually purchasing land from Linden Lab, you're paying another user to "sub-let" a portion of his land to you Estates owners have amazing flexibility and tools they can apply to their land that "regular" land owners would drool over if they ever see them. It is just this side of total God-mode. For example: One of the right-click land option on a parcel you think you "own" is "Reclaim Land" - and POOF! You don't own it any more.
