  1. Okay !!Hello ALL!! Great to be able to post this .I have noticed a name that has given me a mixed sense of sensations for the last year or so. Brenden. The reason being is because that name and a whole lit of other Brenden's have made my sl rather uncomfortable . I have filed tickets sent A.R's Screenshots lists of names and to this day I am still being followed Sim to Sim by bots. A few name changes here and there sometimes a new avatar bot will show up. The funniest one is botty something or another but yeah it to me feels invasive. I get dropped in on when I'm busy or not busy where I'm visiting or who I'm visiting where I am shopping or not shopping what sims I visit or don't .i get they have surveyor's and such but sheesh everywhere I go?
  2. greetings everyone, I'm here to ask about a very strange problem i encountered, many bots (around 30 or more) show up randomly inside my home at random times, 1 at a time, 1-3 per day, its not particularly harmful, but then i learned these bots track me literally in every sim i go to, and 3 or more of these bots state they are alts for a person who enjoy tracking and annoying people for some inappropriate reason that i cant state here since its disgusting, i tried to contact the Linden Labs support multiple times, and all i got was i should abuse report these bots instead of filing a ticking, and i kept abuse reporting these bots each time i see them, and its been around 4 or more months of them following me, yet nothing has happened and non of them got banned, despite some of them explicitly stating in their description that they are used for harassment and tracking people. i do not know how they can find where i am and how they can teleport to me on other sims, i have my map access disabled for all my friends, and all the things i wear are from reputable brands and i doubt any of them contain a tracking script, i have tried to do everything possible to get rid of these bots but unfortunately i failed, this is why I'm here asking, I'm sure many of you suffer from the same problem too by the same bots as i have seen someone people in world who complained about it. what can i do about it? or what can we do about it? do we just accept being stalked and random bots teleporting in our homes and above our heads at random times? if abuse reporting them doesn't do a thing, then what shall i do about it?? edit note : before anyone tell me they are survey bots, then why they indicate in their profiles they are being used for harassment and abuse to make people freak out and quit sl? thank you for reading it to the end, and hope you all have a nice day.
  3. I get visits in my parcel regularly by accounts that arrive at the landing point, do not stay for a second and poof off. Some describe "scripted bot" in their profiles. Others have no information at all, but reviews have described them as bots. Most are accounts over 10 years old. What is up with that? What is their purpose? Can those accounts be reported or is it pointless?
  4. Last time I was using SL viewer search to try to find some sims with vibrant communities and when I TP-ed to lands appeared as the top search results I found lands with no people on them or just bots. I always look to tp to lands that on search listing appear on top and with highest traffic number in hope to find people to meet and to talk to. I believe its same case for everyone else. We're in SL mostly to interact with other people while sharing same 3D space/environment. 3D worlds that are empty (SANSAR) fail. In my opinion SL search is highly dysfunctional and it is not really serving its purpose. I also think general SL community and everyone who cares for Second Life should keep putting this topic in focus. Let me give a simple example how its indirectly hurting Second Life's growth potential. A new SL Resident uses SL search to try to find a land with community of interest to him. He gets search results clicks and teleports to a few lands and finds all lands empty and no people to interact with. Closes the SL viewer and never uses it again. I think it is very bad for Second Life that its very hard to find lands through SL search who have genuine real human traffic and communities. It hurts SL. Bots traffic manipulation is the biggest reason why SL search doesn't really work and can not serve its main function of connecting individual with communities based on keywords of interest. I think if LL appointed at least 1 employee or just even 1 - 2 work hours a day for someone to be checking if there are bots (bot traffic gaming) going on in the TOP 10 listed lands on search it would considerably improve the SL search user experience (no matter what kind of algorithm is employed as long as its based on trying to showcase genuine foot traffic - where most people hang out). (If the problem is money - it can be solved by organizing willing and caring participants from SL community to do that in similar fashion as SL moles are organized). I always liked to take perspective of Second Life as sort of 3D internet and SL lands/sims as websites. In Second Life you want to be able to find communities that you would like to take part in. It needs to be easy, fast and convenient. If new people coming to SL can fast find communities that they can get integrated in that also contributes helping to solve the player/user retention rate (a problem LL management should in my opinion always keep highest on list of priorities). Just imagine if Google search was listing websites who artificially inflate their visitors numbers with bots. How fast do you think Google would loose their search engine market share against others who focus on preventing that? In early days Google managed to become the most successful search engine company because Larry Page and Sergey Bring managed to come up with a website ranking algorithm (I think its also based on points / score) that helps highest value information providing websites be ranked higher per keyword. Google and other search engines improved what most people understand under "internet" and search engines became synonym with internet while internet as TCP/IP and many other protocols is much more than that. So to improve Second Life in the perspective that it can be seen as sort of 3D web where the main goal is to connect people with various interests with communities of their interest. There are so many communities in Second Life - it is amazing. The sad thing is that many of those communities are not represented. Many communities could be bigger and stronger if Linden Lab can improve tech for people find them more easily. Second Life is not all about the community. Second Life is all about communities. There are many! Top SL destinations and special editor picks in my opinion are also unfair and any system that depends on being featured land on landowners own submission (but that is a topic for a whole new topic and discussion). Hope my topic that I am opening can lead towards a positive, healthy and productive discussion. Linden Lab is an OK company and the people working in this company and even the owners are constantly changing. But there is 1 thing that is always staying and that is us the users. As users we shouldn't vilify the company just because it isn't doing something that we think or consider should be done or did mistakes in past. Lets try as a community to gently push them in the right direction. Be positive always. I always say positivity is a constructive force while negativity is destructive force. SL is full of dreamers and builders. If we want to build and grow we need to be positive. \O.. O/
  5. Hi, I do live on my parcel in Bellisseria since mid of April. I don't wanna change my place atm, even if it is not my "dream place" but I want to wait a few months until the great rumors are gone and maybe we can change parcels without constantly clicking on "refresh". Two months ago I did recognice a strange traffic in my kitchen. It was one same avatar popping up in the kitchen every day. Had a strange name and a blank profile, 3 months old, did not say "Hello" or anything to me, just popping up in my kitchen everyday, staying there for less then a minute, then teleporting away. Because I'm a very easily scared person and every time this avatar was popping up beside me I nearly got heart attack, I did ban that avatar. But that did not help me. Next day, another avi, same age, same blank profile, another weird name, was popping up in exactly the same place in my kitchen. And then another avi, all the same features and age in their profile. All there for less than a minute, then porting away. I banned them too. It did not end. It seems that the person who is running their bots or land-bots has got a loooooot of those accounts, because everytime I banned, even more new of those accounts popped up. I placed a visitor counter in the kitchen to get their names to put them on the banlist. At the end I was that stressed, that I blocked the teleports to my parcel, so now they are landing BESIDE my home. But the bad thing is: Me and my friends/alts also do land beside my home. I don't want that. At the end this parcel is useless for me and all the others who eventually will claim that place after me, because of this stupid bot traffic on that place. I hope to get rid of that parcel in future, just wanted to inform, what is going on and... Still I asking myself what sense does make a land bot on linden home places? What are they searching for? Excuse my bad english please! Best regards Uni
  6. First off I apologise if I have posted this in the wrong place, feel free to move it if I have. One of my groups owns a few parcels of Mainland land and over the past couple of days just one of those parcels has been invaded by at least 18 avatars. We can't figure out what the sudden interest could be that is attracting so many avatars in such a short space of time to it. It's just a plain old residential parcel, nothing special, yet these avatars just can't seem to stay away. Has anyone else experienced an invasion of possible bots to their mainland parcels of late? According to my friend who owns the group the land belongs to, after one of these 18 avatars left another one would come out mere seconds later and that's why I'm calling it an invasion. I know you get the odd bot here and there, as well as the odd lost avatar, but 18 almost all at once? Ugh!
  7. Who else feels that afk sex places are just bots and hurting this game? I would love to hear your comments.
  8. I have had this happen a few times and was curious to see if anyone else has had this type of activity on the MP as well. Someone gets a demo from my store, then every 3 minutes, they get another and another and another. this goes on for up to an hour and sometimes more. All demos and all 3 minutes apart with single items. I can only assume its a bot but not sure why anyone would do that esp since it seems most items are random. Like getting both male and female, or grabbing old stuff that rarely sells with new stuff, nothing coordinated etc.
  9. Hi everyone! I hope you all have a great day! As the title, I'm looking for some good and cheap bots. The perfect one would be a Bot that can send messages to the residents, interact with them to answer questions / doing "tours" talking about the land when they answer on the IM things like "Yes/No" to them. It would be nice to dress them up as well, but this is not a need (they just need to look cute in a basic way! Lol). Thanks for your time! <3
  10. I have gotten back into Second Life after nearly a ten year absence. I am interested in doing Machinima of my music I have recorded and would like to have a number of Non Player Characters that I control with animations like dancing in the videos. I am left somewhat confused about how to go about this after having read some things on the internet about SL:bots, Scripted Agents, etc. Is there a good resource describing in detail how to do this? I need to understand the steps to be able to do this. Something like this: Create an Account Mark the Account as Scripted Agent Start a Client to Control the Scripted Agent Animate the Characters I have logged in with two clients controlling two characters before but that seems like a lot of wasted PC resources since I am only playing my main character. The main questions I have are: Can I run a scripted agent avatar without having a running SL Viewer on my desktop for each NPC I set up? Is there a lightweight client that could launch them instead of the Viewer Do I need to run a client at all? I have read about smartbots and the services, but, since I am just using these NPCs for shooting the videos and not as chat bots or greeters it seems an overkill Also I have a pretty powerful PC and a lot of bandwidth so paying for this type of service seems like just spending money Is there any software I can buy or get for free that will do what I want to do? Thanks for reading this.
  11. Does anyone know anyone who can make good avatar bots? I want to use avatar bots (that look like human avatars, but can be centrally rather than individually controlled) to do data visualisations. I'm hoping to find someone who can help with both the avatar and the scripting side of that. Any leads to people with those skills who might be interested would be appreciated.
  12. Hello, I'm looking for someone who might be able to help with a project using avatars for data visualization. The idea is to be able to get avatars to move to a location based on the output of statistical analysis. I would appreciate leads to anyone who has those skills and might be interested. Thanks!
