  1. Should submit a JIRA bug report because if what you say is accurate and true it appears they have found a vulnerability or exploit.
  2. Do you mean IBL? What is BTL? IBL is "In Before Lock" LOL
  3. I literally just now saw a Traditional House and Houseboat at the same time. Almost fell out of my chair! Hahahahaha UGH! Campers can't come soon enough.
  4. That's interesting! I've not taken a ride, but did try not to crash into it a few times while driving my own Hey - do you have the POWAH! to reset the door at Crow's Nest Lighthouse (in Blake Sea) so we can walk inside again? Ugh. It hasn't worked for a few years now and I like to show people that photograph at the bottom of the pit. Just asking aloud. Hahaha!
  5. I thought those were resident-run and owned, am I misunderstanding that? Either way, that's what I was thinking in terms of automation, yes - that exact type and method.
  6. As I've mentioned in my "laws of punctuation in the English language post so follow them or else" comment above, ~winks~ When "live-chatting" (which I believe forum posts to be) then style is usually pretty casual, so punctuation rules are often more optional, other than for clarification of what is meant through the words. Such as my fun little "...thank us Moles..." catch in another threads (where it should have been "...thank us, Moles..." LOL But, really, no one should over use exclamations at any time, not because it's wrong, but because, as stated by another above, it seriously diminishes the intended and perceived emotion it is supposed to project. Just as with expletives. Have you ever seen that movie "Pleasantville"? There is a single expletive used only once in the entire movie and when it is use it was a shock. It was such a punch-in-the-face precisely because it was used only once and it made a very clear point in the entire story; not the word, but the shock of hearing it. Well, same with exclamation points. An emoji as a punctuation symbol works for me, though 👍
  7. No. PLEASE. DO. NOT. DO.THIS. Better to suffer zero punctuation at all, save for commas, than OVER-USED EXCLAMATION POINTS OR ALL-CAPITAL CHARACTERS AND EVEN WORSE, WHEN THEY ARE BOLDED!!!!!!
  8. This is the primary *feature*, not purpose. The feature allows the original baking system to composite all those different textures into a single texture, then placing that single composite texture onto a single layer of a mesh object (in this case: mesh bodies) thereby (and the main purpose) eliminating the need for the additional three layers of the mesh object, which create rendering and resource load, etc. Following the Linden-Created threads about BoM will make it's features and purpose clearly known. Though people have short memories and many will very quickly project their own theories as fact all the time. So meh.
  9. Well, regardless of how Linden Research and Linden Lab are legally organized, the Belliserria effect on private estates still will be minimal, I believe.
  10. Correct - if you own an estate it is not affected because it is considered a wholly separate product that you are buying.
  11. I defer to this: https://www.diffen.com/difference/Corp_vs_Inc. Now let us be clear: Linden Lab is not a corporation, neither is it incorporated. However, Linden Lab is a subsidiary of Linden Research, Inc. THAT company is incorporated. Splitting hairs? Perhaps, but I have always, still do, and always will believe that specific words have specific meaning. By not saying what one means, yet meaning what one says is how misinformation happens. In the end, what @Luna Bliss says is still most relevant and true.
  12. OH! That's an idea I haven't thought of, thanks for mentioning it. I'm also running SL (once in a while) on a 2019 Mac Mini and still get decent performance, though I tend to stick with LL viewer and stay with defaults - it seems to run pretty well. Though it's always a good idea to look at how ham-fisted the OS is being . (I will protect myself whether you want it or not, dammit!) LOL
  13. I've always suspect there is a memory leak with Firestorm on macOS version. Unless you need RLVa I strongly recommend the official LL viewer, or even Kokua as both get better performance on macOS (for me, at least). I will say this though: If you are on a 2015-2017 Mac - your best bet is windowed mode (don't do a full screen, because Retina Display quadruples the number of pixels - GORGEOUS-BUT-DEADLY to FPS). Though on a 2018 PowerBook Pro (four-core) and iMac (4-core) Even Firestorm runs respectably, but LL still outperforms it. Just some feedback from a fellow macOS user. Once OpenGL or whatever it is is GONE, if they (LL or TPV devs) use Metal system for Graphics, the Mac version of SL will outperform the Windows version easily 3 or 4-to1 if not more. Here's to wishful thinking.
  14. If you look very carefully at the southern section with twin track, you can see that it corners toward the left, I suspect the twins will merge into one, it will dip westward then turn back to the north when it is more in-line with SSP264. The real curiosity I've had for a couple weeks since it first appeared is what is underneath that square "cover"? Again, I'm thinking a light-rail or tram type mini RR system. Then the question of autonomous tram or not, though I don't think I recall the Lindens or Moles creating autonomous vehicles other than a water ferry or two.
  15. Caution: You cannot cancel a premium subscription; you can only *downgrade* your level of service. If you do this you will *immediately* lose your ability to purchase any land whatsoever, though all your other Premium-only benefits will continue until your current period has run out. Just a friendly heads-up so you won't be creating another "LL IS EVIL" thread over something you voluntarily choose to do.
  16. LL is in business to please their customer. If they do this they will make money. If not, our feet will do the walking. Actually, Linden Lab is NOT a Corporation. The purpose of a Corporation is to maximize revenue for *shareholders*. Linden Lab is still, to my understanding, a privately company. So what Luna says is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
  17. These are true, though there's a third scenario: When wanting something and unable to find it (or things that are close, but lacking) then creating it for yourself. And after doing that, throwing it up for sale. This is why some creator "stores" are very eclectic and even chaotic-looking in terms of the genre of product they offer. I also find that, in most cases, these are the best quality items because they were made with more care (for themselves as opposed to 'mass market good-enough). This is what I and a long-time friend do. Our market places can be a mish-mash of stuff and that stuff still sells. I have one item that is still selling consistently since 2006 (!) and I presume because the "technology" of that type item hasn't changed since then and likely never will. LOL
  18. There are three contracts we all agree to in order to use Second Life: TOS, TAC, CS. I recommend you read them and they are (amazingly) written in plain English and easy to understand: Linden Lab Terms of Service: https://www.lindenlab.com/tos Second Life Terms and Conditions: https://www.lindenlab.com/legal/second-life-terms-and-conditions Community Standards: https://www.lindenlab.com/legal/community-standards The question of virtual land and their ratings and what can be done is made much clearer here than in any F.A.Q.; this is in Terms and Conditions: 4. CONDUCT OF USERS OF SECOND LIFE (v) Violate our Second Life Mainland Policies, each of which is incorporated into this Second Life Policy; (vi) Violate our Maturity Content Guidelines. A region designated General is not allowed to advertise or make available content or activity that is sexually explicit, violent, or depicts nudity; In other words: whatever happens *privately* stays private. It's similar with U.S. Copyright law: you can freely give anything away to family or personal friends (yes, it's in the law.) However, you cannot give it away to strangers (why a web link is illegal: anyone with access can take it.) So it's the same with the ratings on mainland. (And this is why Sex beds in your private home on G-RATED land IS ALLOWED as long as you make a good-faith effort to keep it private. Though just as in RL, people can invade your home and when they do: it's on them, not you. The suggested method of doing this is to turn off Avatar Visability on the parcel. This does not mean your sex-couch must be inside your mesh mansion, it can still be out in the open on the front porch. Also, most newer sex-furniture and vehicles and other things now have security built into them, so just by setting them to Group-Only (often the default) is enough to have made a "good faith effort" to not "make available". LL knows this; they aren't stupid.
  19. What Rhonda says, though can also see if they have a wishlist, yours is empty: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/wishlists/brie90212 Just substitute the name (if they have a last name other than Resident, then do both names separated with a period): https://marketplace.secondlife.com/wishlists/NAME
  20. If you understand the intended *purpose* of BoM then why is your whine about the effort to create it based on subjects other than the purpose? Someone invents tricycle based on a bicycle and you proclaim it's a wasted effort because it's old tech and the handlebars aren't right, totally ignoring the actual purpose and reason for creating it. Go figure.
  21. You may want to consider this little tool. I can see that rezzer and this "personal rez zone" script working together in pure awesome solidarity! https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Vehicle-Sensor-Rezzer/17967895
  22. /me holds up an out-facing palm in the universal sign of "STOP!!!" ~runs to refill popcorn bucket, returns and plops down again~ Okay, please proceed!
  23. I don't think you understand, at all, the *purpose* of Bakes on Mesh. The purpose of BoM is to ease system resource demands and viewer rendering loads by eliminating the extra mesh layers (onion skin layers) of current mesh bodies, so no underwear, tattoo, or clothing mesh layers to use appliers on, but rather a single layer that the BoM Composite is put on, and the composite being created using the system layers, as system *that already exists* and only needed to be updated. It will take awhile until most people are wearing single-layer mesh bodies and avatars, but that, along with single composite textures will increase your frame-rates exponentially. If that doesn't make you happy then nothing else really will. Just remember that it will *take time* before all of this starts happening because the SL marketplace moves about as fast as it does in RL. Now that the technology is present, it will take time for the creators to adopt it, then it will take time for the buyers to adopt what the creators are doing. A cascading upgrade that will be good for everyone using the grid.
