  1. THIS. This has always been my position: ALL viewers are GREAT viewers (yes, even the LL Official) - because choice! I choose the Catznip for the exact reason you state. Others will choose for what they need, if they actually give the others a go. As for Firestorm being the most used (I say used, because "popular" may be a misnomer) is that most who use it were told as newbies that they "needed" to use it. I'm not saying this is fact, but rather the most common answer I get (90% of the time) when I ask. But there's nothing wrong with that, I suppose. I tell people they *need* to give Catznip special features a go, as well. LOL
  2. I must admit some of these are very creative and others... eeew! Stone Love https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stone_Love
  3. Unless I'm misremembering, the current (old) LL homes on 512 plots have double-prims, or at least a prims bonus. (Yes, I *still* cannot help calling "LI" prims LOL)
  4. I am thinking this also - perhaps making it larger than originally thought of (I sure hope it doesn't make the wait much longer!). Though I am constantly peeking in on those (and have many "hope-to-get-that-spot" choices, I've been keeping a very, very close eye on SSP100 - I suspect they will flesh out the southern area first before returning to that northern section and SSP100 is already marked-up to be worked on I am thinking when they complete the southern area then they will begin on that region. Perhaps that's when they will pull the release trigger (to release the southern area first.). Obviously I could be wrong (and not gonna take that chance, still doing the refresh thing even now) - then build the northern as a second "wave", or ongoing work as they have been with the Traditional and Houseboats, etc.
  5. I do agree and I believe the powers-that-be would do it (they get it; there's a giant reel zone at the northeast corner of every region in Blake Sea, mentioned for those that don't know it) - And it is the lack of this which is why I hypothesize that these are more or less general place-holders until something more complete is fleshed-out. I'be been following the SSP/Bellisseria news-from-Lindens pretty close (though not as close as people like @Daniel Voyager) - I don;t recal even a rumor that rez zones may be placed into any of those regions. I'll be first to admit that doesn't mean I'm right!
  6. I am, as for freeing up house, I agree. Though many awaiting campers may have already abandoned their homes in anticipation (I have)
  7. Yes sure, walls-o-text can get confusing LOL. I look forward to when BoM becomes the standard way of doing things. I see it as a three phase process (creating the feature notwithstanding): All viewers support BoM so there are no outliers to ask "WTF is rong with UR txtrs!? A good quantity, if not majority of mesh objects that need to support it do support it. Adoption en masse by the population as a whole and it becomes a standard expectation to be supported. I figure at least another few weeks for "phase one" to be completed. Perhaps another few months for phase two and ongoing from there, a "good quantity" meaning truckloads that support (at least) the top four or five mesh bodies and heads. Phase 3 will take a lot longer because it will be a very costly transition for all of those whose accounts were created after the Mesh Bodies became a real thing. Those of us who were here before that time, at least, have a leg-up on system clothing and skins and tattoos, so long as they weren't discarded when Mesh bodies became a thing. Because of this, I am thinking at least a year before phase three can be considered a success. A large part of the cost also will have to do with who upgrades what (creators.) I have the best skin I have ever had in 13 years - it is appliers-only. Unless that skin creator "upgrades" to System Skins (which is actually pretty simple and takes seconds,) I will not be jumping onto the BoM cart any time soon unless another skin wows me the way this one does. I know a lot people people will feel the same way. Early-adopters are early adopters, and I consider myself one of those as long as it's not too painful. Though I believe this transition will be painful on a scale that coincides with how long you've been here, the longer you've been here, the more painful it is with a large dip once you hit the "before mesh" timeframe. This is more or less my purview on the BoM subject. I want it NAO! I really do. The painful thing for me is waiting for the time it becomes more realistic to use it.
  8. Simplification of the mesh bodies and heads, system resources used (as it is an adaptation of an existing technology baked in from the very beginning of the grid.) I apologize if my meaning was not made clear.
  9. Serious question: Have you tried other boats or aircraft? I find that I lose a boat or aircraft or car sometimes during a region crossing and it's more consistent with some than others I'm not that technical, but in-world long enough that experience tells me it has a lot to do with how the scripts are written and the number of them. For example: I've only recently discovered the MANJI cars and even in crusty old Heterocera and Sansara region crossing are nearly instantaneous (.25 to .5 seconds on average) and yet my previous-best are still the same average 2 to 4 seconds or longer and the only difference really is the scripting. I also am discovering (because paying more attention) that it's a similar scenario in boats and aircraft. I know - somewhat off-topic, but a proposed method to find a solution because I wouldn't't expect Rez zones plopped into those sims any time soon as, I am presuming, they will plop more virtual land-mass somewhere in there and so many of those are, more or less, temporary place-holder regions.
  10. So, based on your expert technical prowess and firm recommendation means that when the average user follows your advice they can contact you for the major assistance they will undoubtedly need? Just asking for a friend.
  11. Yes, lots of people take offense when there is no reason to. These are the greater-than-thou types and the amazingly-sensitive types. My favorite is when someone makes a general comment about general things, for example"There be snowflakes in these here forums" and bam. I now expect to get a three day suspension for this very comment because someone is going to take the snowflake comment personally, which only makes my point as they out themselves. But that's okay, it's what alts are for.
  12. This. When I had my own role-play regions we set the "parcel" level control to "land anywhere" (no specific landing point) and placed the teleHUB where we wanted newcomers to land. This way anyone teleporting in from the world map or a SLURL would go to the teleHUB, though regular role-players could teleport directly to any location they had a Landmark for. It's not a perfect system and it's not really enforceable, but it works well. And it's always best if you don't use what could be perceived as ham-fisted enforcement of any policy like "how to enter the sim" or you'll chase away good role-players and prevent potential new role-players by annoying them. ASLO: A teleHUB will automatically distribute landers so they don't land on top of each other (you set the diameter) and so you wont't need any of those annoying pusher/mover systems that use up prims and add to scripts. Ugh.
  13. I created a shape using the Genesis Lab JANE head and Fei skin and this is what I came up with and passed to the OP in world. I haven't heard back from her whether she even likes my attempt or not. Though without a mesh head created to look like a Gelfling, this is about as close as can get using existing in-world items and sliders. There are Gelfling ears that can be purchased at MP or in-world, so I didn't bother with those. This is what a Gelfling looks like (the OP example isn't very good)
  14. It's easy: Upgrade to Premium and grab an LL home and you'll have land. Since it will be the old LL home styles and you'll want the new 2019 style, it will be a real job trying to get one.
  15. /me nods, nods. I'm sure Qie, knows this, though for other readers: They were going to hold the current version for release once BoM was released, but we were all getting antsy (We want new Catnip NAO!) so they released it LOL But that means there is already a lot of the BoM work in there, meaning short beta period for this new BoM version! Woohoo! So phase 1 will be complete (Viewers) - now for phase 2: The mesh body and head makers.
  16. This is called survival, not judging anything is tantamount to being comatose. We judge the foods we eat, the things we buy, we always judge others in some way or another. You cannot go five minutes without judging something and right now you who read this are judging me by projecting your own idea of what my feelings are based on my written words. There is judgement and there is prejudice, the former is a necessary fact of life, the latter is a scrutinization, and both can be positive, negative, or somewhere in between. With the written word, that perceived positivity or negativity is derived by our own cultures, world-views, and experiences as we project the mood of the writer into what we are reading. Then there are ideas; those are judged as well and also often misinterpreted based on the communication skill of the one trying to express them. OH! And also IBL. 😎
  17. Among the stated goals was to eliminate the "onion-skin" of mesh (specifically: mesh bodies and heads) - which is would lower render costs by a massive amount and, in turn, resources, lag, whatever. I'm all for that if it works, though it is a major paradigm change just as it was going from system layers to appliers and that took years before it became as ubiquitous as it is today. Now we go back to system layers again, but this time instead of an additional optional way, now it will be removing a way entirely. It's always difficult to simplify because you are always eliminating something when you do that.
  18. Yes, exactly this! And then, by the consumer population. I am definitely a pessimistic! This way my worst-case scenario is not a surprise; I will get what I expect, otherwise I am pleasantly surprised. Optimists are disappointed a lot more often than pessimists!
