Do you think you can switch to a sustainable diet?
Bree Giffen replied to Gopi Passiflora's topic in General Discussion Forum
Ok. I read about sustainable diets. You have to eat foods that are local and organic. Eat more vegetables than meat. Eat minimally processed foods and have a varied and balanced diet. It pretty much sounds just like eating healthy. So my answer is no. -
Woot. Such a useful list. I'm going to check out all the skin stores.

Yes. I meant the score. I thought it would be a close game! Oh well. I wasn't really rooting for any team.

Seems like a blowout.

Need help: cant remove makeup/eyeliner looks odd
Bree Giffen replied to TeddyVelour's topic in Your Avatar
Also check your eyebrow settings which are part of your system hairbase. If you are using bom. Add: I was just looking at multiple heads and bom skins. I am seeing downward pointing eyeliner because the bom skin was made for a different mesh head. So for Genus, the skin might be for the Strong head but you are wearing it with the Babyface head, or vice versa. The same thing happens with using bom skins between different Lelutka heads. Sometimes the skin doesn't specify which head is it is for. -
It's time to make predictions on the Super Bowl!!!! š 1. Score at halftime? Who wins? Final Score? My prediction is Buccaneers 13 Chiefs 15 at halftime. Chiefs win with a final score of Buccaneers 35 Chiefs 37. 2. Will the halftime show be controversial? Will it be considered a successful show? My prediction is The Weeknd will make a controversial statement but will have a successful show.

This looks interesting. I use an Xbox 360 game pad for any games (or similar applications) on my PC. Itās much more ergonomic to walk around and look at things. -
Nice Avatars & No Payment Info on File

It's possible this 'no payment' person is a criminal who has robbed people. I'd stay away from them. -

What would you choose? superpower/music/tv show
Bree Giffen replied to Nynali's topic in General Discussion Forum
Superpower - Would have to be flight. I've imagined it in my head many times and I think it would be the most fun. I see Lindal agrees! Musician/Band - Have to go with Garnet on the London Symphony. They play such a variety! Plus, listening to any other single person or band would just make me sick of them and I wouldn't want that. TV Shows - An old tv series called Great Chefs of the World. Going around the world to the best restaurants. What more can I say?- 37 replies

They can't call themselves "Secondlife Better Business". That breaks paragraph 1.1 of the TOS. LL can't have someone operating with their trademarked name. This SLBB could probably get around it by renaming themselves something unrelated.

I would suggest pizza for the game. Delivery pizza of course. Another dish would be nachos and shredded cheese sprinkled with olives, taco-seasoned beef, jalapenos, diced tomatoes, etc. Served with salsa, guacamole, sour cream and refried beans.

Where do you spend you lindens?
Bree Giffen replied to Alma Palmira's topic in General Discussion Forum
I used to spend my lindens on all sorts of things but now it's mostly clothing and avatar parts. I rarely upload things except maybe a texture or a pose. -

What if your life was at stake?
Bree Giffen replied to Bree Giffen's topic in General Discussion Forum
Iām surprised by how a lot of people think SL is so dangerous! I mean going shopping isnāt a life threatening activity. It makes me wonder exactly you are all doing in SL. Iād say my SL is a lot nicer than RL right now with the cold weather, rain, quarantine, etc. I canāt get into a car accident in SL cause I donāt drive. -
Would you continue logging into SL if your real life was tied to Second Life in a way that if your avatar was killed you would be also die in the real world? I donāt want to get into a discussion of how it could be done. Just interested if a high stakes game where you put your life on the line would appeal to anyone.

FPS and Lag... Why is it Directional?
Bree Giffen replied to Cari Soulstar's topic in General Discussion Forum
I think it has something to do with texture loading and unloading in the client viewer. When you are looking in a direction, all the textures load within your screen. Everything off screen is not loaded. Like a flashlight, you can see what you shine a light on but everything around you is dark. If someone walks into your view, their texture gets loaded but since it's just one avatar's texture it isn't much of a load. When you turn your head the viewer begins loading the textures of everything that comes into view all the way out from a few meters to a thousand meters depending on your settings. If you don't have a large cache set in your viewer, the textures are loading from the nearest Amazon server which may be a city away, a state away, a country away. Loading textures from a server is much slower than loading from your hard drive which is how nearly all video games do it. The textures can also be large in file size and there can possibly be thousands of textures needed to render one screenful of SL. I think that avatars are a big culprit to slowness because you can have a regular looking avatar that contains a huge amount of textures. When I turn all other avatars into jelly dolls, turning off all textures from them, my lag goes away. There's a little more complexity to the answer because there is also some caching of textures, texture compression, pre-loading of textures, object occlusion, LOD rendering, loading of things other than textures, etc. -
Attention LL marketing - IMVU is after you
Bree Giffen replied to animats's topic in General Discussion Forum
It has a mobile app though! Thatās a huge market that SL needs to penetrate. Never played it so I donāt know what the experience is like but I can see that itās a graphical interface and you see your avatar. We need that. -
Should LL create an Easter Egg?
Bree Giffen replied to Bree Giffen's topic in General Discussion Forum
That's the spirit! Maybe this will inspire everyone to start hiding prizes all over SL. -
You may want to work backwards if you see any particular skins or clothing that fits with your character. So, if you find a spacesuit that you like then check what bodies it is compatible with. If you see a nice skin then look at what head it works with. Iād start by getting the demo of each body like Maitreya, Belezza and Slink. Then get demos of heads like Catwa, Lelutka and Genus. You can get any other mesh or head or body as well but those are the bigger ones that have more compatibility with clothing options and skins. From there Iād just go around to a few skin stores and try making something that you like. The process of getting the right avatar look sometimes takes a while or sometimes you find a combo that works right away. For shapes Iād recommend making your own. I constantly tweaked face and body shapes until I had one that felt right. You may want to make the same body shape using each of the mesh body demos and make the same shaped face with each of your mesh heads. You will be able to notice the differences in each mesh body and mesh face and make an informed decision on your final choice.

What comes after the Information Age?
Bree Giffen replied to Gopi Passiflora's topic in General Discussion Forum
The information age, or the digital age, really only just began in the 90s with the widespread use of the internet and the growth of internet-based companies in silicon valley. We are going to be in this computer era for a little while longer. For the future, I see commercial space exploration growing which could bring about a true space-faring interplanetary age. Steven Hawking said we need to get to other planets and it looks like we will. Artificial intelligence is another growing technology where A.I. could solve problems that have plagued humanity for years. As humans we don't trust ourselves or each other. We often blame failures on being human. More importantly, we can't see a way to change these things but A.I. can by thinking literally out of the box that is humanity. There is also the unlocking of the human genome where we are now in the process of figuring out which genes do what. I think there will be countries and labs that won't be timid with genetic manipulation and we could be seeing 'life changing' technology.
