  1. Kinda reminds me of a real old wl i made once . except that shot had more clouds
  2. the ironical thing is this is 2019 pushing 2020. We have gaming on 4k monitors and game settings set to ultra and gamers are getting like 90+ fps. and in SL we have to turn everything to 'fugly' mode just in hopes of being able to move LOL
  3. when u go into pref/move an view/movement then click on joystick config does it actually show the space navigator is connected? and is enable joystick enable and you pressed the space navigator defaults button? and the control mode is only selected to flycam?
  4. of SL video I been experimenting and watching alot of tutorials lately on OBS recording settings, and after recording editing in Premiere Pro (or similar editor) What i have found for OBS settings is use either mp4 or mkv , along with Nvidia NVENC h.264 new (for newer nvidia cards) which is standard, but, for rate control instead of using CBR or VBR to use CQP. CQP is a constant quality setting and will adjust the bit rate depending on the scene. the lower the number the higher quality (and bigger file) I have mine set at 10 now which is near-lossless encoding - up to 20 should be fine for smaller file sizes. Preset should be Max Quality. Obviously you need to test these setting make sure your computer can handle these settings other wise raise CQP some and set the Preset to quality On the editing side, anybody who edits knows mp4 sucks for editing - it doesnt scrub well and play back can often not be good. Simple solution which only adds one extra step in the work flow is to transcode (convert) the mp4 to either ProRes 422 HQ, DnxHD, or Cineform for importing and editing. If you have Premiere then you have the Media encoder, so you can add a watch folder and auto encode all your mp4s Now if I can only eliminate the lag in SL lol
  5. Sl isn't really a 4k game #1. But SL isn't like other computer "games" where hardware makes or breaks FPS. Alot goes on on a sim that determines FPS beyond your control. The amount avies, their complexity, the textures, alphas, etc..etc... and of course the sim itself, some run well, others don't some need a restart .. al that stuff. As far as the nvidia control panel, most of the options there are for quality of image not performance. there are only a couple tweaks there to maximize performance , even then its questionable if it makes a noticeable difference Your machine will have no problems with SL when all the conditions are good. Also, try not to obsess with FPS.. if with all the windlights on and shadows and you can still walk around fine, actual FPS don't really matter
  6. what does it matter for you girls anyways? the minute you meet a guy you like you go shoppin with him and "suggest" new hair, new clothes, new skin, new shape... LOL!
  7. all these gamers would cry coming into SL runnung at ultra on a sim loaded with mesh and alphas with 40 mesh avis moving about LOL When i record video with 'everything on' I usualy keep the task manager and either afterburner or system monitor open on the other screen looking at loads and CPU and GPU temps. Sometimes the GPU is taking up the load, sometimes the CPU is doing more work, but never seen the the CPU get past like 60%, GPU sometimes may hit 100% but not often or for long I am experimenting on the nvidia panel leaving the 'visual enhancement' features to application control and only turning on performance functions - really dont seem make any difference either way really in terms of on world FPS numbers
  8. my goal is to optimize the nvidia card running Second Life. Right now I have a gtx 1080. Thing is I video weddings, so often i need everything on with shadows, and can't really derender 'overweight' avies either. So anything to help with performance would be nice
  9. I guess thats my point - i have no idea what works and what doesn't. It's like a shot in the dark. Be nice if some on team linden or team firestorm who understood how these things work together could give guidance ....
  10. As the title says - looking for current 2019 Nvidia control panel suggestions/tweaks under Manage 3D Settings/Program Settings.. firestorm** There are alot floating around and alot from old posts, but looking for tweaks that are known to work, I have made a few .. Ill post my system specs below. All my drivers are up to date... I am also on 100Mbs download speed and wired LAN connection CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz (3672.26 MHz) Memory: 32710 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit (Build 18363.476) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 1080/PCIe/SSE2 Windows Graphics Driver Version: 26.21.14.4141 OpenGL Version: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 441.41
  11. Let's face it SL is like Golf - if golf sucks for you buying the best golf equipment will at best, only make golf suck a little less!
  12. Ive never understood the bandwidth logic. I get 102 Mbs from Tuscon, and I am supposed to set my maximum to 1500 Kbs......
  13. like almost every month Nvidia has a driver update for the latest game out there. wouldn't it be cool if Nvidia considered second life a "game" and offered optimization guidelines for Nvidia cards ruining secondlife....
  14. back in the day, when all of the big corps were launching an online presence, granted everyone then was the 'classic avatar' I always though how funny that Susy from marketing, a RL 50's plump aging housewife, and Phil from engineering, a balding overweight chain smoking guy, would meet in a virtual company office as a hot 20 year year old blonde bombshell and a tall muscular studly he-man as avatars staring at the RL each other from across the office,.....
  15. what the heck is up with Trillia? I had (begrudgingly) sent my DL and a utility biill to an unknown company to "prove" who I am even though I in fact do have a verified PayPal account, so I could make a transfer of funds to PayPal . Then a couple months later, I go to sell Lindens and make another transfer back to PayPal - and now Trillia says I need to "re prove" I am the person they more than happily took funds from the last time I made a transaction. Like seriously, there is more documentation required for them to skim off the top than what I need to be able to vote! So now i got all these Lindens 'parked' in a Trillia account literally being held hostage unless I can prove to them again, I am the same person as last time that sent funds to a verified paypal account!
  16. No worries though. All the 2020 Dem candidates have promised that only the rich shall pay the fees, it is free for the rest of us! ๐Ÿ˜…
  17. I think it is easy to say "let's hope the FTC doesn't see SL videos as kids content" but with the fines and penalties the FTC is proposing, would be nice if "hope" were more defined. It's true that the FTC would likely only go after the big fish - creators that are truly trying to skirt the law, and while SL has age restrictions itself, certainly there are ALOT of sl content with prim babies or adults who play very young children for family role playing, etc.. Im not expecting it to be an issue with the content I make, but again we will also be dealing with a government oversight board, and we all know what happens when a government agency tries to make an example of something....
  18. Not sure if there is any 'official' position from Linden Labs concerning COPPA and You Tube compliance - the primary issue for us as users of SL who make vdeos for YouTube would be will the FTC view SL as "animation" and "cartoon" content regardless of its intended audience? For those that are not aware, all YouTube creators must mark all content on their Chanel 'made for kids; or 'not made for kids' and starting in January 2020 the FTC will start sweeping all YouTube channels looking for compliance. That is, uninformed human moderators looking at content to determine if it is geared towards kids. A violation can cost the content creator up to 42.000 per video - regardless of the fact the channel is monetized, the youtube analytics showing the average oge of the viewers = if the FTC determines the content is 'geared for kids' you will be in violation. For instance alot of us in SL make cutesy videos with our little prim babies or even child avatars that are our "children" or other videos with "children" in them , I for instance have some wedding videos that also have 'children' as flower girls or ring bearers and while of course a wedding video is directed to adults - how the FTC overlords will see this is unknown Marking a channel or a individual video 'made for kids' means the video wont be searchable, comments are disabled, can't be added to playlists or favorites, and won't be counted in any youtube indexing So I was wondering if Linden has any guidance on how the FTC might view Second Life (and by extension, Sansar) as a whole. I have actually written a comment to the FTC to ask for the FTCs view but i expect at most a generic answer
  19. Like I said, I confirmed this with another user who has experienced the same issue so that pretty much rules out the viewer and/or an issue with the computer. So it may not be BOM related per say, but this issue came up as BOM is being rolled out onto the SL servers. Obviously, weddngs are tough as it is, but usualy I can get a good 11-16 FPS when the cam is facing to the crowd, but now 4 FPS is considered excellent if I can get that And no, one cannot really make any type of decent film on the official viewer, so I have never used that although I may download it and try some A/B comparisons on a heavy avi sim
  20. Anybody know what is going on in SL and the massive drop on FPS rates? I do wedding videos and all of a sudden in the past couple weeks I noticed MASSIVE performance hit with shaders and shadows on and a good number of avies around ... I tried rolling back the latestst FS viewer with BOM, wasn't that. Then I tried rolling back the latest Win 10 update, wasn't that. I spoke with another photographer at a wedding (whos machine is more powerful than mine) and she said the same thing! When she switches to "ultra' she gets drops to like 5 FPS and it has never been like that before and she also had tried rolling back the latest FS release and same issue Even with only;y maybe 16-20 avies around on an otherwise empty sim I'm seeing FPS rates between 3 - 7 FPS! and even switching just the shadows off and leaving Atmos Shaders on there is maybe a 1-2 FPS increase. Can any tech head chim in with what might be going on lately? I am hoping this is temporary as Linden is implementing the BOM stuff but this is really, really bad right now I have noticed sans avatars I am often still getting decent frame rates, but start adding in avies the FPS just tanks big time (even way more that it used to) My current setup: Firestorm 6.3.2 (58052) Sep 27 2019 22:41:52 (64bit) (Firestorm-Releasex64) with Havok support Release Notes You are at 54.6, 149.4, 21.8 in Orchid located at sim9881.agni.lindenlab.com (216.82.46.23:13019) SLURL: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Orchid/55/149/22 (global coordinates 162,615.0, 266,901.0, 21.8) Second Life Server 2019-11-01T18:02:37.532376 Release Notes CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790 CPU @ 3.60GHz (3672.25 MHz) Memory: 32710 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit (Build 18363.476) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 970/PCIe/SSE2 Windows Graphics Driver Version: 26.21.14.4120 OpenGL Version: 4.6.0 NVIDIA 441.20 RestrainedLove API: RLV v3.2.1 / RLVa v2.2.0.58052 libcurl Version: libcurl/7.54.1 OpenSSL/1.0.2l zlib/1.2.8 nghttp2/1.25.0 J2C Decoder Version: KDU v7.10.7 Audio Driver Version: FMOD Studio 2.00.03 Dullahan: 1.1.1320 / CEF: 3.3626.1895.g7001d56 / Chromium: 72.0.3626.121 LibVLC Version: 2.2.8 Voice Server Version: Not Connected Settings mode: Firestorm Viewer Skin: Firestorm (Grey) Window size: 1680x997 px Font Used: Deja Vu (96 dpi) Font Size Adjustment: 2 pt UI Scaling: 1 Draw distance: 128 m Bandwidth: 750 kbit/s LOD factor: 2 Render quality: High (5/7) Advanced Lighting Model: Yes Texture memory: 2048 MB (1) VFS (cache) creation time (UTC): 2019-9-1T1:41:28 Built with MSVC version 1800 Packets Lost: 396/279,505 (0.1%) November 25 2019 05:12:32 SLT
  21. besides "free" you should also look at 'low cost' non subscription based editors . Affinity is one i can think of but a google search of best photo editors should get a good result. there should be a few good ones out there for under 100 bucks
  22. from whatI been able to tell, as long as it is saved as a png, it has no assigned profile . when i make the working space sRGB in PS and check ask when opening, it will pop up and ask if i want to assign sRGB to the image. I have also experimented on the same photo and it is a pretty big difference in saturation levels between a adobeRGB and sRGB. I never gave it much thought till i was watching a youtube vid on color spaces, as I had always imported the files to the working color space space was sRGB by default;t
  23. I have been wondering, maybe someone knows, when we take a snapshot in world, what is the color space if save as a png? I know 'web browsers" use sRGB, but I don't know if the SL viewer is limited to the sRGB color space. I have experimented bringing into PS with an assigned color space, and it does appear that no color space is assigned to the image saved from sl. There is also a huge difference when assigning the image a sRGB color space or the Adobe 1998 RGB colorspace. Yes, it does have to be converted to srgb to properly display on the web, but editing in a wider gaumit has its advantages. I guess the main technical question is does the SL viewer display only sRGB like browsers, or does it use a much wider color spectrum?
  24. I don't imagine in RL many women would go to Rape Alley, or to the Forced Sex part of the city "Excuse me while I attach my *****"!
