  1. I have numerous scripts that used to turn on lights by 'sun in the sky location'. With the new EEP in place these don't seem to work anymore. Can someone suggest how to properly handle lights coming on based on sun position? Thanks!
  2. I'm on Linux, so I cannot use the LMR test viewer. I was visiting one of the editor's picks, Beira da Ribeira, using Firestorm and Singularity viewers. Singularity still uses the Windlight renderer, and I used the shared environment. The sunlight is a bit too bright, but wouldn't that be expected in a tropical jungle? I saved a few pictures and came back in Firestorm. Again, I used the shared environment. However, wanting to try to replicate that high contrast look I got in Singularity, I turned up the gamma a bit and lowered the ambient color with Personal Lighting. It struck me how poorly the water shadows on Firestorm compared to Singularity, even being completely absent in some situations. I'm not picking on Firestorm in particular. It just happens to be the EEP viewer I use the most. Also, this is not the first time that something seemed 'wrong' with the EEP water, but as you can see from the images below, it's quite a contrast in this case. No sky or water preset made in Firestorm made any difference. Using the shared environment without tweaks didn't make any difference. 3. all of my Windlight presets are missing. I don't know how to get all of the windlight settings that I've been using since day one. I dunno if something happened or what. There was always a loooong list of WL sky settings and now I only have two sky preset settings. https://imgur.com/a/W0shCqT What is going on. Can someone please help get back all the original windlight presets pls and thank you.
  4. Hi, I had no idea where to post this so if this is better off in a different sub, let me know and I'd be happy to move this. I've been using Nam's Optimal Skin & Prim for years now and wondered if any of you use or have a lead on a truly neutral WL? Or more neutral. Nam's always seemed a bit saturated to me but I did a side by side below with a couple others and it surprised me to find that Nam's isn't as strong as I thought. It also doesn't strip out detail like the other two. It'd be nice to experiment, though. So if you have a windlight you find pretty neutral, I'd love to check it out!
  5. Hi, I'm using the latest Firestorm viewer and just rented a new skybox. I have the Windlight settings just where I want them and don't want them to change with the day cycle. Is there a way to keep them permanently "fixed" in the setting that I like? Thanks.
  6. Did you know you can set up a special Windlight setting on your Bellisseria parcel? Yes you can, it is a Firestorm feature, I'm not sure about how the Second Life viewer works on this one. Find the instructions below. Any questions, send me an IM or drop me a notecard. - Pru Short cut to set Windlight on your Bellisseria Parcel: Here's a quick example to set your parcel to a windlight setting of your choice. To use this, you must be on the Avatar that owns the Parcel! 1. Click on World > Parcel Details > About Land > General > Description box 2. In the Parcel Description box, drop in this line at the very bottom, below your other information of your parcel: EXAMPLE: /*Sky@0-9999:"[TOR] SUNSET - Blue inspiration"RegionOverride*/ EXAMPLE 2: /*Sky@0-9999:"TYPE WINDLIGHT NAME HERE EXACTLY AS SEEN"RegionOverride*/ 3. In order for you and guests to see the windlight setting, you must set up your Preferences to see it. 4. Go to Preferences > Firestorm > Windlight Tick the 2 boxes that say: ✓ Automatically change environment to use region/parcel settings. ✓ Auto apply WL settings from any parcel. (PS: I have all the boxes checked, so if you have issues still, try checking off them all.) Any problems, let me know. - Pru
  7. So I use Firestorm, and it has lots and lots of nice windlights. Too many. I get tired of scrolling up and down. Is it possible, when I find a setting that looks "wow" to bookmark it or make a smaller list of favorite windlights? I want Nam's skin and prim for everyday dressing and building, but if I should remember that "Lords of Bazom" (or something like that) had a cool effect, I must scroll, scroll, scroll and then scroll again to get back to Nam's skin and prim. Is there a solution for that, a way to save my favorite windlights and get to them quick?
  8. So i edited a windlight in the Firestorm viewer and then saved it. I then applied it to my parcel via the code in the description field. How can i now share this windlight with my neighbour so they can have their parcel set to it as well and others can see it. I hope i worded this right.
  9. Okay. Y'all see that line in the sky? How in the heck do I fix that? Is it possible to do so without having to take the picture into an image editing software? I am incapable of doing complex editing so I was hoping this was an in-world fix...somehow... ((This was taken maybe a year ago, so I don't recall what Windlight setting I used here...))

  11. Hello! I hope I am putting this in the right category. I have managed the same region for quite some time now (about 3 years) and I have not had this problem until very recently. I created a day cycle and attempted to assign it to the Region/Estate level. It looks correct in the preview when selected in the drop down menu. Once I click "Apply," I see the settings have changed, but it seems the haze or fog or distance multipliers are completely gone. So while the lighting is right, the depth is not there. It was the same case when I applied just one of my custom skies to the "Fixed Sky" portion. Looks correct in the preview once selected in drop down menu. Click "Apply," and the fogginess is gone. I thought maybe it wasn't taking well to my custom skies so I tried it with one of the defaults found in every SL viewer. I tried Blizzard and Foggy. Same deal. I even tried to do this in the most updated SL viewer. The problem still persists. I've been trying to look around if this issue has been reported or talked about recently, but maybe it's something on my end alone? What am I doing wrong? Thanks folks!
  12. Hello. I'm curious if there's any way to create custom day cycles within Second Life, either with use of WindLight Settings, or if that could be implemented. I want a 24 hour based day cycle for my region, or variably just within my viewer with a WindLight setting. As well, I would like custom windlight features with clouds & thunderstorms. I'm aware that most people that want thunderstorms & rain use particle scripts, though looking at the sky & clouds textures utilized for basic windlight features, it seems that custom layered clouds & even thunderstorm effects & others could be implemented. I am just curious if anybody else has toyed around with things within the attempt to get a similar effect. Thanks.
  13. Hi everybody. I do a bit of sailing, and it's nice to have daylight so that I can see what's ahead , so I do Ctrl-Shift-Y in Firestorm to force midday lighting, but that gets reset to the sim's default every time I cross a sim border. Does anybody know of a way to force permanent daylight until I decide otherwise? Thanks a lot.
  14. Hello everyone! So I have been tinkering in-world and searching quite a bit on the internet and cannot really find answers I am looking for. I was wondering if anyone could help me with my issue. BORING BACKSTORY: I am trying to do something different after 9+ years, many of them living my life with over saturated lighting to make my avatar look good on my monitor. I want to switch my environment in my home to something with more "mood" to it, if that makes sense. I purchased red lighting for the bedroom (which are the only pure lights I have right now, anything else lit is by furnishing design like the TV screen or lights within a game) and am looking for an environment that preserves that light, within that space, but also makes other colors and edges "POP" for the naked eye, and does not make things too dull or "foggy". My ultimate goal would be for my avatar to also benefit from this environment where my clothing or accessories "shine" or catch someone's eye. There are also adult related things I would like to benefit from this environment, but I will privately test that I guess instead of publicly post here *laughs* So anything that would keep my red lights red, simulate a "black-light" effect, and preserve my avatars look would be a welcomed suggestion. Or if anyone knows of a tutorial or better way to achieve lighting effects than red light + environment, I am open to suggestions for that too. Thank you for your time, and you may contact me in world too! Tianna Burnstein
  15. I like to think I am not a newbie on Sl, been here for years. Since I started with this ava I like to take pictures, post them here, and feel sad when I see other pictures people make on SL. Mine are no good compared, Look in the mysecondlife feed, look at picture of the week/month... I know some are done with photoshop but still... I really tried to find anything about this I can use.... but Windlight? Please explain how to use it, or even where to find it. Like I said, I feel dumb I don't seem to get that. I press World->Environment Editor Sorry about the many I's
