  1. Note that you do not NEED to put a SKU number in the marketplace listing. It is optional and presumably for big retailers to keep better track of their items via databases. DO NOT PUT THE UUID numbers as the SKUs. Anyone can then use a script to add your textures to their product (oh my) which pretty much defeats the point of selling textures. Look at other texture places and read their End User Licenses. They are likely very much the same. You need that on each page of your store listings.
  2. Note that I actually CALLED billing and asked a similar question, got an incorrect answer and ended up paying for tier that I didn't use. So beware. I would wait until the land is gone just to be safe. Just saying -- there are no guarantees that the info you get will be correct --- sadly, it happens :D.
  3. One thing you need to note that you may end up paying tier on a lot you no longer have. That happened to a friend. So best to give up your lot and then the NEXT month downgrade ^^. Doubt the rule has changed -- to lucrative :D.
  4. While I almost never (NEVER) use the official viewer it is good to know about the linkset maximum. And really an extra few lindens isn't a big deal if it works! My question might be "can you WALK on the landforms?" It might not be important but that is a really low land impact for a huge piece of mesh LOL.
  5. As far as "I" know and I too do not make rigged things (or only under dire need on grids with NO products LOL) you DO need to rerig for each body type. It is ONE reason why so many clothing designers have gone to the "Maitreya Only" (that used to be 75% of the mesh body audience for gals, not sure now) OR "Omega" only. So you might want to follow their lead LOL.
  6. I doubt you will find someone. If you figure that a mesh head goes for $600L to $3000L or more and that someone making a good head can sell thousands, that's upwards of $10,000 US -- maybe more. Hence anyone that knows how to make said head is very unlikely to do "work for hire". It just doesn't make sense.
  7. I have had many inventory losses over the years, the first big one about six years ago and that was the loss of my WHOLE "Home and Garden" folder and I blog and hunted then so it was a pretty big one. A "sister" lost ALL of her shop items (about a half a sim store) and only had things that were rezzed in world. She closed her shop after that just from disillusionment. Comments on the forums are often "oh you didn't really lose it -- you just need to (insert advice that doesn't work because the goods ARE gone). Now and then things come back singly in VERY odd spots. Like an animation under body parts -- that sort of thing -- making no sense at all. But those are rare occurrences. There are definitely problems STILL with the database. A few months ago I notice that I was about several thousand items "light" in my inventory which is currently at 30,000 partly because I go through and delete often -- and partly because of the "inventory fairy" who deletes for me. After about six major losses over the years, I sighed and figured I would find out eventually what I had lost -- and I did a few weeks ago. Most all my backups (and I had MANY copies as I have learned over the years) of my installation at LEA7 (three years worth). I have a few things left, but a lot is gone. I am used to this now and happily I am not a person who cares that much about material goods (virtual or real life) so after that first big debacle, the following losses were less traumatic. I do by the way have subfolders and subfolders under subfolders as I am very organized. I also put copies of items in boxes and have REDUNDANT backups. Still -- almost all of LEA7, gone. I have no clue how that happens really. The safest thing is to rez anything you really care about, but that doesn't work with clothes and hair and such. In Opensim there are regular backups that can be reinstated and I have to assume there are (or should be) backups in SL, but I have not seen them working -- ever. Tickets get you nothing but a "we'll try if you can give us an exact list of what you lost". Well DUH! All that being said, I would NOT be one of the ones going premium or paying extra to "protect" my goods. Partly because I have no faith that they would actually be protected -- the track record is so bad and party because I always have new and better things coming in. I make my personal backups on the beta grid and in Opensim -- and of course the active files on my computer (and drive G backup :D). After that I just try and let it go when it happens. I figure I have lost well over $10,000 worth US over the years. Happily I didn't actually PAY most of that out. I did however work for the items, so that counts too.
  8. In the appearance menu up the "body fat", "love handles" and "belly" and that will get you most of the way there :D. This from his existing shape maybe or a free one he kinda likes but isn't "fat" enough? Just PLAY!
  9. @Adam123 Gearz LOL. Well never trust Google! It isn't QUITE all-knowing.
  10. From looking at your supposed texture (the black and orange bit) it looks like you are thinking in "sculpts" mode. So the first thing you likely need to do is clunk yourself on the head a few times and try NOT to think about sculpts. It is a whole different world. Note that there are MANY ways to unwrap just as there are MANY ways to model :D. You will find your favorites -- the same method doesn't work best for everything. Also try not to succumb to the Smart UV Project mode. It is SO NOT SMART - LOL. Medhue made a tutorial on how to unwrap a cap awhile back. Here it is:
  11. Along with @Tamara Artis 's great list, if you need help with Windlight settings, I made a few video tutorials awhile back. I know more NOW of course, happily we keep on learning. But they are here: http://chicatphilsplace.blogspot.com/2009/09/windlight-settings.html Wow, that pasted in link worked today. The devs are REALLY paying attention to what we want on the new forums. Big TY! The last time I used Singularity (and it was awhile ago) I didn't think the graphics were as good as Firestorm. So that could also be part of the issue. Singularity is great for folks with lower powered computers though (or apparently for racing). Still that could be a part of your issue. The great photos you see are most likely taking on Ultra or one step down. Most FASHION (not for profile) folks also take giant photos and resize down (mine is set at over 6000 pixels wide). You don't need that for profile photos though. So a super good computer helps :D. Forgot to paste in my graphics screenshot:
  12. There should be a link in the header menu methinks. Thanks for letting me know where they are. I HAVE looked before. And yes it was "advertising" :D.
  13. @Aislin Ceawlin Links to Marketplace are often deleted. Obviously this sort of makes sense as anyone with a few alts could make all sorts of "advertisements" that seem like they are answering questions -- such as the "can someone tell me who made this hair" posts. MY question is WHERE ARE THE GUIDELINES? They use to be pretty obvious but seem like they are in hiding in this new system (which I give lots of kudos to in general by the way).
  14. Best thing to do in contact the Firestorm inworld group. You can past in your computer spes (they will tell you how if you don't know) and they can advise. It might be that your computer is just too old but ask and see. IF you can use the Linden Viewer and not FS then likely it is another issue. If your machine isn't all that hefty then a third party viewer based on the old 1.23 style might work. Singularity is one but there are others in the Third Party Viewer List. Good luck.
  15. @Adam123 Gearz Well it took me days just to figure out I needed to unwrap (map) a mesh object in order to get textures on there. Honestly I have NO idea how to bake a texture in Blender Render as I typically just baked an Ambient Occlusion map. Once I get all my ducks in a row and after Fantasy Faire is over, I'll (maybe) work on some new and much improved (she says hopefully) tutorials. Happily there are MANY more tutorials out there now than there were four years ago. Many however, as I said have little to do with GAME ASSET MODELING. Blender does tons of stuff and we only use a tiny part. Here is where you can bake an Ambient Occlusion map. Full render is in there too but I never could get that to work (it DOES, it was just me). I use Cycles Render now. If you leave the margin at 16 pixels you may easily have overlap. AND you want to check NORMALIZE in that pain to keep any color you might have added out of the equation. That's pretty much what I remember. I have been in Cycles for well over a year now :D. Good Luck! PS. If you are used to sculpts, check out the VERY OLD BUT STILL GOOD "Kettle Quest" videos. Type in "Kettle Quest Blender" and you can find them. They were specifically made to help sculpt makers learn how to do mesh and ARE for SL. Most things should be the same although the interface will look different.
  16. @Adam123 Gearz Here is a quick screenshot of some mapping (Adam and I have been conversing but pictures don't seem to be working in "private" mode.) When you change a model you usually have to remap. There are exceptions like removing edgeloops, but if you make changes, then of course your UV map needs to change too. Note that each piece of the model has a corresponding area on the UVmap. This is in CYCLES render, not BLENDER render so a few things may look a little different.
  17. @Rolig Loon While I definitely bake these days I never upload with the model. I have never actually been able to get that to work (haven't tried in a long time). Happily I really love making UV maps (OMG! Really? Yes); I tend to think in patterns so that's probably why. But even after years of practice things DO go wrong as you say. My alt pretty much lives on the beta grid now (major -took me days to fix and some things never returned - inventory issues keep me out of there). And now as a habit I always use "local" textures on the main grid first. It is surprising how one avatar sees things differently (and catches mistakes) that the other avatar missed. Who knows what THATS about! I am thinking through some new video tutorials for Beginning Cycles (not what Adam is using according to the screenshot). Not sure if that will work out as I have a tendency to fiddle while I work unlike the pros that make tutorials, but it is an interesting process trying to come up with a method that is as easy as it can be. That is SO not how I learned. LOL.
  18. So (for me) the link insertion method could use some rethinking. I pasted in some text for a link -- like I would do in many forums. It put itself in an odd box like it would if I was accessing a page, but nothing showed up but an empty grayed out blinking box. I couldn't delete that area -- at least I tried hard and didn't manage it, but it looked completely empty. Next I used the LINK icon to get the link making box which worked fine. I understand that "sometimes" when inserting a URL the first photo of that page shows up which is great if there is a photo. If not, then it seems messy. Here is the forum post: And that of course worked just fine. Here is the screenshot of what I saw in edit:
  19. Along with what Rolig said, it should be noted (and underlined) that not all Blender tutorials are designed for what we need in SL. This can be VERY confusing when you are trying to learn. I made some text tutorials awhile ago as well as some step by step Blender Render tutorials for beginnings. These are indeed FOR Second Life and Opensim :D. So that might be helpful. Sorry having issues inserting a link (or even the text to copy for a link ^^) Beginner Blender Render Text Tutorials Hopefully that works. LOL. OK, something important to add to the new forum suggestion box.
  20. Quote from OP: Edited Wednesday at 11:54 PM by LadyVitality Needed to Emphasize So we DO realize that this is likely a completely bogus post --- don't we? Nothing the OP has said makes any sense at all. Facts completely wrong, reasonable comments from others like the buying money with her old alt falling on "deaf ears". It has been interesting but I am GETTING BORED NOW! LOL
  21. Yes, while "resistance if futile" and actually lots of folks are looking forward to the "fix" for the update issues in Win10 (I oddly don't have a problem but I bought the Pro Win10 version at the advice of some web gurus) it is almost always wisest to wait -- and defer when you can -- the update process. Let Microsoft work out its bugs before YOU get the update === that's what I say anyway. And for anyone that is interesting in their security and privacy there are MANY more grabs for privacy info in this new update so going through your security settings after update is certainly advised. Look this up on the web or check my Google Plus page where there is a link to a good article. We aren't supposed to post that kind of stuff here (I am guessing that is still true) so not putting a link :D. Glad you got it fixed!!!
  22. This "deal" happens regularly. The best choice for Premium always has been paying for the full year. Doing the math, that is easy to see. So folks that commit have the advantage moneywise. From the brief ad I read it isn't actually clear if the treehouse is JUST for folks that go premium (it is kinda worded that way as I read it) or if it is simply the newest Premium gift for all Premium folks (kinda what I am guessing is true). Since I really don't care LOL I won't be investigating.
  23. You might want to look up PHYSICS MODEL in the archives as there is tons of info on that as well as walking through doors (another physics issue that comes up often). The term "hitbox" isn't used here -- at least I haven't heard it in nine years so. that might be confusing to some folks. You can test the idea simply over at the beta grid (free) by using Medium or High physics in the physics choices, analyze and then upload. In world change the physics type to PRIM (in the FEATURES tab). Test and see how that works. Making your own physics model may lower the land impact though, so looking into that method would be good. In some (a few) cases the uploader does an OK job with physics models. Others your REALLY need to make your own.
  24. That was a VERY OLD PROBLEM about three or four years ago. I thought it was gone but apparently not -- for some people. It has been so long ago I don't remember what the cause was. I DID have it for awhile and it did have something to do with mesh when mesh was new. It was "me" and not "everyone", so you can assume there is a fix. You didn't say what viewer you are using but updating to a new one might be good. Are yo using a mesh enabled viewer? It seems very unlikely that folks would have mesh bodies though and not mesh clothes LOL. Dancing in the dark here. The fact that you are on XP which is no longer supported by ANYONE LOL, might have something to do with it. That is a pretty low end computer for SL. Likely someone will remember what that issue was and maybe how to fix it.
  25. Even when we only had texture clothes there were classes in how to dress without getting undressed. We have LAYERS and have had for a decade or so. If you have a mesh body turn on your underwear appliers (with underwear obviously) and you are set. Turn them off when you are done. If you have a legacy avatar then wear undies on a tattoo layer while you are dressing if necessary. Want tattoos? Change from undies to tattoos once you are dressed. All it takes is a bit of logic. And you can always TP home and change and return. Well duh! LOL.
