  1. If you actually want a review of your script, you could post the script in the SCRIPTING forum where folks there actually know how scripts work . There are plenty of merchants that don't script. Community Guidlines for the forums are linked in the sidebar. Here is the link: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Community_Participation_Guidelines
  2. Check your LOD settings if you change them (that in the Debug menu if I remember in the Linden Viewer -- if you are in Firestorm, there is an easy slider on the Quick Preferences bar). 2 is a good setting. The default in the Linden viewer is 1.25 (or I was told so); if you didn't follow one of those "turn your LODs up notecards that often come with items you buy you should be fine. Lower your draw distance (that happens automatically with a low setting though. Turn your setting so that you see more jellydolls in crowded situations. Those are all very basic things which you may have tried already. You certainly could try another viewer but I would work with what you are used to and see if there isn't a way to improve. If you do try another viewer then I would suggest Sigularity or another older style 1.23 viewer as they are easier on your system. Firestorm is great but I am guessing it takes more computer resources than the LL viewer since it does so much more -- hence it could easily be WORSE, not better. Good luck!
  3. Windows 10 works well and has some nice features (over 7; I bypassed 8) and SL runs just fine. The Anniversary Update (which you will get if you get a new computer) fixed a lot of the "Win7 programs don't work quite right" issues if you have old favorites you still want to use. The biggest issue -- for anyone who cares -- is the lack of privacy in Win10 as well as the notification pop-ups and constant nudging to install or use products. You can turn most of that OFF if you choose to, so you might want to type in "Windows Privacy Settings" into Google to see what those issues are. If you post your whole life on Facebook then you probably don't care, but a lot of folks do . You might also want to check the differences between Windows Home and Pro versions. I paid a bit extra for Pro and for me that was important.
  4. Just a general reply about mail as it might fit into this issue. I have had IMs to email set for many years. The last few days I noted that there were messages for me that I never received. I hadn't changed anything. The rest of my mail from SL (Marketplace mail, ads etc) was coming in fine. I went through the preferenced choices where I finally found the Im to email settting (it has moved since I last had to set it == this in Firestorm) and check the box again. Supposedly it will now work again but since I absolutely know I didn't change that I have to assume something went wrong. I have also noted just the last few days that local textures which have been uploaded and applied have not been sticking and when I log in again I have GRAY items. I put the texture on again and it seems to work as it should. This has nothing to do with mail of course but something isn't working right. In the olden days that wouldn't have been much of a surprise, but lately it been such smooth sailing *wink*.
  5. Not my area but --- Join the pieces, merge the vertices appropriately, then separate and use the trick for avoiding seams posted this last week in this forum. Might be a starting place. Good luck.
  6. Best to post your needs under the WANTED section
  7. Even using some skins (this is for girls but I am going to guess it is the same problem for guys) that have appliers for both your head and body (or Omegas which would be more likely) there can STILL be a line there. Very disturbing when you buy a skin. So be sure and look carefully when you are trying the demos to make sure that line is gone. Some skin makers aren't all that careful about matching. And yes, the only way you can get things to look smooth and natural is to get appliers from the same skin maker. Trying to match the tone will not work as the tone is not THE SAME all away around the neck. When you get a good skin applier the skin artist has taken the time to make sure one piece blends into the other and it looks perfect. So go shopping and be picky. OR find some male collar you like that covers up that line. Those are the only two choices.
  8. xoXoxToxicTearsxoXox wrote: I do have one question: A youtuber called the mighty ginko created an experemental rig that reportadly works extreemly well and ive seen alot (ALOT) of creators use it... is it legal? she copy botted the original body to make the kit, but built the rigging from scratch, so its really in the darkish grey area for me and im fearful to use it. (i do respect what she did though, the creator of the lara body isnt very nice about her meshes at all.) i want to develop for that body because i love it so much, but i question wether its a smart idea... or if i should just sink in the time and make myself a human body as furry creators do, honestly if given more time id like to make a brand new body with better rigging and nicer breasts. You answered your own question. There is no gray area. It was illegal and likely a DMCA will be filed.
  9. Also note that while it is perfectly OK to use free downloaded mesh to practice on it is against the Terms of Service to upload. And, just in case you are working with someone else's mesh (and it does sound like it because if you made the "leg" you would know how to move your cursor *a wink from me too* ) you may be hurting yourself more than helping as there is lots of mesh out there to download that will not work for Game Assets (which is what we need in SL). So as mentioned, if you want to learn Blender there are tons of good tutorials out there. Look for ones that are fairly recent so that the interface looks the same. Good luck and have fun.
  10. Well the obvious thing would be to go to the store and pick up a new copy of the body from the redelivery terminal. It sounds like it was the applier with the add on breasts that was the issue maybe? I have never had add on body parts but I do know that some skin manufacturers have special appliers for various "parts". If you don't have a skin that has that applier then you can't apply skin to your breasts or other add on part.
  11. Since much mesh can easily be resized (furniture and even houses can be stretched to get larger or smaller in most cases) this isn't really a big issue. You can resize after you upload OR you can change the dimensions in the uploader window. That being said, a very easy way to get a close scale to what you want in world would be to build a simple sizing model out of prims and then save that out to a collada file using the viewer (not sure if the Linden viewer lets you do that yet but most 3rd party viewers have that option). Then use that rough file for SIZING (not recommending rebuilding from the prim model ) and then delete it. This is especially good for stairs or something that needs to fit. So far as size goes, some designers make their furniture really large (presumably they have a 9 foot tall avatar LOL) and others more real life size. If you are marketing your product, I suggest that you sell it as mod so that folks can resize to their needs. Long ago there was a lot of no mod furniture and if it was too big (or too small) folks just didn't buy it. I certainly understand. If you want to keep it no mod you could add a resizer script.
  12. I am not exactly sure what you are asking but I still had Blender open so took a screenshot. You can see the DIMENSIONS of your build in when looking in OBJECTS view here --- So far as posistions, the positions are relative within the build. So if you make a linkset and one building is at XYZ and another is at a different XYZ and they are uploaded together -- they will remain in that relationship to one another. They won't rez at any specific cooridnates, just where you drag the build. Hope that helped some.
  13. I added a few low land impact trees and some bushes on the abandoned lot next to mine with the "delete me as needed - just beautifying" object name. It looks much better, cost me a few prims. Personally I think that is a great idea. If the land gets put up for auction at a later date, the items can just be deleted by Lindens or by the person buying. So thumbs up for that idea from me.
  14. If it was a house built when mesh was new (and it sounds like it) there were plenty of folks that had no idea how to make correct mesh physics models. In some way, that is still the case but it is much better and you don't see that message (or objects rezzing in the middle of the air or OUTSIDE the house ---- OMG - yes). What you can do as a work around is to put a rug down on the floor or carpet it with prims. And invisible prim might also work but I am thinking tha it might need to be 100% transparent white instead of the transparent texture (at least that was the case awhile ago). Nothing that YOU did. Not the sim.
  15. No. Here is the official policy page: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Snapshot_and_machinima_policy
  16. They are likely wearing a Bento head. If you haven't updated your viewer you cannot see it.
  17. Dutchie makes a nice hud like that and I am guessing there are others on the marketplace so a little searching should get you what you need. ALSO, check the role play sims and chat up some folks; they would be the prime users I would think.
  18. Just a comment as I have never used Sketchup but when I was at Cloud Party they were just adding it to the list of supported 3D software uploads. Apparently they had to jump through some hoops as while it exports a dae file it doesn't export it as other 3D software. They had to turn on "double sided" as the default in the uploader for some reason raising everyone else's mesh by a factor of 2 until we learned how to turn that off . So all DAEs are apparently not equal. Another question which we may never know the answer to is -- "was the model fine in the LL viewer or was uploading it with the LL the answer to make it also work in Singularity?" I couldn't tell that from the post anyway.
  19. The uploader most likely couldn't figure out what to do with your "physics model". You normally don't use the same build as your physics model, you make a very simple model that follows the general lines of your build and use that. While it isn't the best way by far, you might try uploading with physics set to "high" rather than a physics model. With very simple buids this works fairly well. Again though definitely not end game for physics models. There are lots of threads on how to make physics models for house in these forums. Typing in things like "can't walk in front door" or "house physics" will probably get you to some. Here is a screenshot from my Google Plus feed to give you and idea. Quadrilaterals should not TOUCH edges.
  20. For pocket money as apposed to a career, you can chase crystals and run from rock monsters over on the realms. You COULD actually make fair money from this == like buying a mesh body for my alt (she is a good runner) but alas the last few times I have been over it is much harder. They seem to have cut back on the blue and green crystals so when they appear it is an OMG moment (they used to come up every 35 minutes like clockwork . For most "real jobs" you need to put in some time so that you have some credibility as well as a resume and many of them pay very little. Camping is pretty much gone (I started my business with camping dollars). There are still contests but you typically need freinds to vote for you or a killer avater (both is a good thing). On the plus side there are some great gifts in the clothes area as well as hair and skins and such. If you want a mesh body though you will need to save up. You certainly can make money being a retailer but that often takes a lot of time to learn skills as well as money spent on uploads and such so unless you ENJOY that and want to gamle those upload lindens on future sales, it would likely be safer to do some other things. There are quite a few jobs for receptionist type people who watch store and greet people. These don't pay terribly well usually but over time you could earn some dinero. Good luck!!!!
  21. If it is the Marketplace all the versions should be in the marketplace folder. Since you mention FOLDER in your post I am guessing this is the Marketplace. Torley made some good videos that might help. Here is the middle one covering listings.
  22. I actually missed the drama at the end (I am assuming there was some from the flaming IMs) too. Apparently the rebuttle that I made stating that I was sure not ALL content creators use illegal textures as the OP insisted got a bit of backup as also apparently "I" opened a can of worms and there were most posts on that thread. I can only assume it got nasty. Not clear really who deleted the thread and yes there were some good points in there and most folks were being very helpful . All in a day on the forums.
  23. An in the dark guess here. Lots of skin makers use the OMEGA RELAY now. So you need to purchase that ($99) in order for the skin to go on your body. You didn't say what body you had but hopefully it was one that the skin will work for. Meanwhile look back on the ordering page (or the info on the poster in the shop) and make sure you got something that will work with YOUR body. They don't all work for every body or every head.
  24. There was a thread recently that has been taken down. It was concerning the "rightness" of copying works from the web via Google's handy search engine and using them in works for SL. There was a lot of good info on that thread even though the OP didn't seem to be happy with our answers and indeed sent some fairly nasty flaming IMs to me inworld. She apparently liked Chin so that's a plus I guess. LOL Anyway, by ACCIDENT while signing up for an event (see I can still use caps if I want to sweetie) I found this very easy to read document wihich pretty much spells things out. For those interested here is the link: https://slhomeandgardenexpo.wordpress.com/exhibitors-2/intellectual-property/ I do NOT go gently into the night :D.
  25. My alt does all the testing on Aditi now (since they migrated the inventories and messed mine up and lost a ton of stuff). She has already gone through 15,000 plus lindens and it has only been a few months and I do some testing on Opensim. So yes, please do mention the beta grid. Still love that elephant.
