kinda squint your eyes and use imagination to fill in the missing bits and gloss over the clunky bits

😸

Good show!

*Edit* "Things" are often better in general, in the dark or without glasses on.

I think there may be confusion about the Second Life Blogger Network. The posts that are shared in the Community News section by me are from Bloggers and Vloggers that have signed up to be featured there:

I have not written any of the posts myself. I am sharing the blog posts and/or videos and linking directly to them, with their permission, to increase their visibility and assist with their SEO. It is just one of the ways we support the bloggers in our community. More information about the Blogger Network and the sign-up form can be found at this link:

The Meet the Lindens post that was shared there yesterday was from the Prim Perfect blog, written by Saffia. She has signed up for the Blogger Network so you may see her posts shared there from time to time. The official Meet the Lindens blog post from us, with all the names, details, timings, and links to Youtube etc.. will be shared later today by the @Linden Lab account in our official Featured News section:

Guys, if you're unhappy with the way things are going in SL then submit a question and attend. Being grumpy behind the scenes doesn't change anything.

Talking to a wall, doesn't help either.
LL would be fools if they did not sail their own course. It is their livelihood. For us it is just entertainment. With every single user having a different pet peeve of two.

These meetings should be about fun IMHO.
With questions like, what is the weirdest avatar you have in your inventory or is it true that the Moles can walk under the SL ground level?

I will miss all the fun as usual.
I'm on holiday to the Black Forest in Germany next week in RL.

For plenty of SL users, it is their livelihood.

LL like to cite the big winners making bank, but the vast bulk of SL's creator community are on the poverty line. Policy and direction are very important.

Of course there are people making (some) money out of SL.  SL has been and is paying for my SL expenses too for most of the 15 years I'm on the platform.
But it is still a hobby for almost all.

My point mainly was, that it would be a bad policy if LL would make their decisions dependent on what pet peeves and suggestions people have who show up at events like meet the Lindens.

I guess LL has developed their preferred methods to gather the information they need over the years, also from their user base.
And LL knows who make a decent income on goods out of SL, who holds a considerable chunk of land as land baron, and I guess they will contact them directly, if they find it suitable to discuss their roadmap to the future and visa versa.

If Anshe or Maitreya IM's a Linden for a conversation or meeting, it will have a different approach and outcome than when Sid Nagy does. No doubt about that.
And rightfully so. That is how business to business works.

While we're meeting the Lindens found this video of LL VP Product. Awesome lady with great sense of humor.

Meet Ms. Anya.

I've only listened through half of this hour long discussion so far, but Bill Tai (of ACTA Ventures) makes good points about the changing nature of money (value tokens in my view) and Lawrence Lessig (of Harvard Law School) makes good points about how business models destroy law (and I'd add democratic ideals).

Question No. 1: How could the sex be made more realistic in Second Life?

Animation Reform.

Among the many needs is the ability to insert IK profiles into existing animations(while playing) or allow IK only(no bone translation/rotation) animations that can be played simultaneously with other playing animations.

We need IK support so we can actually put hands on body parts instead of having them grabbing at the air or poking inside the other person due to variable body shapes.

The same goes for all "limbs".

IKs would result in far less adjusting.

Camera control reform.

Fix how broken mouselook looks while sitting.

Introduce restrictions so you cannot cam down your throat or look 180 degrees behind you.

Allow scripts to put the user in mouselook and show only specific body parts and/or allow limb fading/silhouetting (like porn MMO/games allow).

Mouselook(1st person) sex could be so much better. INB4 the VR HMD fanbois...

100% this.

Our animation system could charitably be described as "basic" or perhaps "primitive" being as this is SL. What we have is the bare minimum and hasn't been updated ever, there is no simpler animation system than the one we have. It is quite literally the very simplest option one step ahead of nothing at all.

And not just for the pixel bumping, although that does present a good test case for having two avatars of different sizes interacting with each other.

We can't even keep our own arms outside our own bodies or our feet on the ground.

We can't have couple animations of even the simplest and most plain without kludging things close enough and squinting.

Getting two arbitrary avatars to hold hands in a predictable way is simply impossible.

We can't even sit next to each other without scripted per avatar controls to nudge things around, tongue at the right angle.

What we have wasn't acceptable 19 years ago, in 2022, it's a joke and represents a huge blind spot to the powers that be.

This is what @Philip Linden should be focusing on, not facial expressions.

if we had object face logic like velcro / magnetism options for bone parts would snap together easier. Question would be are there any plans of making a line of magneato*TM avis? so residents could hold hands and naturally repel the hands out of the inside of the lap when at meetings? (side note would have to have another layer of magnetism) one for bones one for mesh?

Thank you, I was so confused why you posted about an item outside the official LL globe as it is.    Now I get it.

Awesome SL19B opening, love the sl quarks. Me and my mom watched on youtube (she does not sl but says she liked Patch's speech) I was there in person and it was cool experience. Strawberry was excellent at improvising. Awesome work place looks amazing can't wait to run around with it calms down and take it all in.

I had 2 major crashes (besides the region crash) , so decided to watch in youtube the last minutes, I guess even event regions can't handle all those avatars :)

Ironically it was far laggier (is this even a legit word? X3) than last year...well yes and the region crashed like the one time I saw the live testing of those regions (before official release), and it crashed one major event on opening day really hard. I guess those special event regions really am not all that fancy as they want them to be by now at least. Seems like those need a little more tweaking x3

Grumpity is great and gets it, Lawrence Lessig is a corrupter of young minds and destroyer of property, on which privacy is ultimately based, see my blog.
