Maybe I'm looking old and decrepit? I suspect that reason, though, may be that the social places I go to all have a core of "regulars," and lots of chat in local to which I contribute. New people, and undoubtedly men on the hunt, do show up there, but it must be more intimidating to cold IM someone with an invitation to sex if it's obvious that they have "reinforcements" at hand, and are not there alone? I do get hit on, now and then, but nearly always tentatively and politely. I don't get nearly as many stupid conversations. I was almost coming to believe that maybe the culture in SL had changed. It was so long ago that (1) everyone talked about lag and getting logged out ALL THE TIME and (2) most people actually had the typing animation active. So... a friend of mine and I were supposed to give this guy a tour of a rather large and elaborate sim, and he said that he had some questions. So the three of us sat down and he started typing. And typing, and typing. His little arms were going for several minutes until suddenly he was logged out. We waited, and after maybe 30 seconds he was back. He apologized, then started typing again. He typed and typed without stopping. I started telling him "Hit ENTER. Hit ENTER!" but of course he didn't. And then he was logged out. We started laughing hysterically, and when he came back and apologized once again, I told him, "LIsten: type a little and hit ENTER. We're never going to know what you're asking if keep getting blown off before you get to the end." Of course he didn't. He just typed and typed until he was logged out. They're both super, super different and I personally really dislike working with the LLuv. Like, if people ask it's totally fine, I'll just turn them down politely, but it hurts sometimes to put on generic polite customer service attitude when someone essentially goes I want it NOW! or threatens "not to buy it" if I don't. Like... Good for you? The ad states what it's for, so good luck getting it otherwise lol. Outside of that, I got badmouthed behind my back via discord-- to my boyfriend no less-- for sitting on a cuddle rug at our favorite hangout spot together. Why? Because the badmouther in question thought I was "possessive" and "manipulative" and was trying to convince my boyfriend of that supposed fact... For sitting on a cuddle rug. Because apparently, I always joined my bf on the cuddle furniture there "without asking"... I was on voice with him the whole time and he's the one who asked me if I wanted to. 🙃 Friendship with that individual didn't last long after that. I was in a tavern and, most unusually, there was a handful of free people being served and only one slave on bar duty. You'd think she'd have been in her element, but she spent so long emoting about the rustle of her silks and the light bouncing off her hair that she wasn't paying attention to the drinks order and kept stuffing it up (and how you manage that when you could just scroll back through the chat to check it is anyone's guess, but hey, it was Bore). Eventually one of the Gorean Masters got so pissed off that he lost his rag, and they started having a full on barney in double brackets, with the twonk still capitalising all his pronouns throughout. It got weird, though, having a 10-year-old girl avi and an adult woman profile. So, I made an alt, and clearly stated in the profile that I'd be roleplaying the new account as if it had a rl birthday and rez day of August 10, 2006. Before I'd even gotten off newbie island or whatever it's called, I was getting hit on -- and the guy didn't care that I was playing as a kid. I kept warning him about ToS, but he didn't care: He felt all of SL's female avi's were fair game for bumping pixels. Even kids. That was the first time I ever reported someone for attempted sexual play with kids. Then, I got done with the tutorial, went to the first default chat area you get sent to after the tutorial, and immediately got hit on by ANOTHER guy! I was still in my beginner avi, So I wasn't thinking, "great, ANOTHER pedophile" -- he simply hasn't read my profile yet (unlike the other guy for whom my rp as a kid was a turn-on, ew). Well, I kept telling him to read my profile, but he refused, because reading profiles was "against his policy". Um, what? We went back and forth over why he should read profiles, especially mine. When I told him the age I was roleplaying, he flipped out, said he was going to report me, as kids weren't allowed to play SL. He thought I was really a kid! When he finally got it through his thick skull that I'm not a kid, I'm ROLEPLAYING as one, he said he would then report me for kiddie-porn. I told him the only one who'd been sexual was him. If anyone could be reported, it would be him -- though I didn't think he would have propositioned a young girl had he read my profile. "I told you, I don't read profiles! Ever! And now you again say you are a child! You can't play SL! It's for people over 17!" [And I found the chatlog lol] "i copied your name a profile" uh huh why "no under17 should be here" The USER of this account is WELL over 18 "but you are not" the CHARACTER roleplayed, and AVATAR for it, is almost 11 "how old are you inn RL" Over 18 "ok" and was when I joined sl 11 years ago as stated in my profile this is an alt account to my main which is an 11 year old account "listen I don't read them" well you should. Someone rezzed a sky dome that was so huge that it spanned over the width of approximately 9 regions on Mainland. Blending milky ways, random falling stars, and luminous clouds. I would actually like to see the LL sky. So I contacted the owner of said massive sky dome, asking if they could please delete it. They reacted and promised to take care of it "in a moment". After hours, still nothing happened. I messaged them again. Me: "Could you please remove it now?" Person: "First time someone complains about a beautiful gift." Me: "If it ruins the experience of others, it's not really a beautiful gift." Person: "Yes, there are always people who can't see beauty." Was at an event in a Moderate region with some friends and my partner decided to demo a chair. He was on the chair for a couple minutes trying diff poses and then some naked chick suddenly sat on it and started IMMEDIATELY flipping through the adult set of animations. 😕 Made him feel super uncomfortable and when he stood up from the chair in shock, some big mostly-naked macho muscle man immediately took his place and they kept flipping through nsfw animations in front of my group. Felt really... Icky. What's wrong with some people, I s2g. Like, just wait your turn? It's not that hard, why sit with someone you don't even know and start flipping through raunchy anims? As the plane was flying he started talking to me about how his Mom was not going to be able to take care of him for a while, and she had put him on the plane to fly him to stay with his aunt. It all seemed innocent enough so I played along. When the plane landed he said his aunt was running late, and could I watch him till she got there. Well sure why not. I mean when I played very, very regularly back in the day I never experienced such rude, creepy, and stupid behavior. But that just might mean that I had so many good creative friends that I associated with, or was just lucky I guess. It was a blessing in either case. So I just want to say instead, never change.
