The end of gachas is sadly not the end of the ill nature of some people.

Regardless of quality, gachas exist because they're hugely profitable. Regulation often fosters innovation, and if whatever replaces it is also successful, the cycle will repeat. For better or worse, that's capitalism.

I don't agree with the idea of gating and employing gambling mechanics to sell products, and I'm glad they're banned.

I won't even enter a casino. It's not part of my upbringing or culture.
Den of iniquity? Gullibility would be more like it.

No offense meant to any individual who enjoys these activities but I've known of people
who have lost their houses because of gambling.
They even have ads on TV, (I've seen at friends places cause I don't have a TV), during
numbskull ball sports targeting young guys and even most of my students bet on
game results non stop.
Ironically the name of the betting company is called: Ladbrokes = Broke Lads. 😂

Here in UK there is a confirmed correlation between the poorest areas having the most betting shops. Luckily it's one addiction I've managed to avoid. That said, I wish gachas could have continued in SL but I accept its a no no due to laws.

I buy a lottery ticket every now and then from Eurojackpot (when the jackpot is high).
De facto it is buying a ticket to dream.
For the rest no gambling for me. Not even gatchas or bubblegum machines.

How do you feel about slave auctions? They still have those in SL. Would you be in favor of banning slave auctions?

What does that have to do with gacha or gambling?

Everyone buying knows what they are getting and the ones being auctioned off have signed up for it.

I do that here.  I know I'll not win and justify it as a donation to the schools or nature areas, which is where the majority of our state lottery money goes.

They aren't real slaves. It is basically bidding for your future gf. All the slaves there are consenting and the moment they aren't, the fantasy and dating is over.

But also obviously- transferable.  I don’t know how many times I gave for the sake of helping complete strangers who would ask in various group chats for different things.  Maybe they were new & wanted “cheap” hair- well I’ve got 5 copies of this hair, in such & such colors- let me send you one.  Or someone who was hoping to win a particular item & never could & didn’t find it in a yard sale.  Just bought a new body & needed help building wardrobe?  Guess what- I’ve got plenty.   More often than not I was met with mistrust- or instant responses of “no wait I can’t pay you”.  But I never asked for money.  Just the pleasure of being helpful.  Let’s not forget housewarming & pixel partnership presents.  Not sure how many toasters & cocoa makers I gave away over the years.

I understand why they’re being banned (the machines) but they weren’t nearly dripping with the evil attributed to them as a whole.

Nothing is stopping these gacha sellers from trying to recreate this. They could sell no copy/trans items if they wish. Make it cheaper than the usual copy/no-trans version.

They could even release the items as limited edition until next year to drive demand and that impulse spending.

But will they? I doubt it. They probably go with this silly conveyor belt idea cause the gacha RNG is too profitable.Customer satisfaction comes second.

Over here most of the state lottery proceedings go to sport and training facilities for the amateur and for financial support for  Olympics and Paralympics who mostly sport (almost) full time  but have an amateur status income wise.

When I ever win, I'll let you all know which sims I have bought and developed for public use.

Slave auctions = Gachas?

You just don't know how that slave you just purchased going to act! 🤣 He/She could be nice and want to serve you or want to whack you hard with the largest cast iron frying pan available! The slave's brain might fall under the RNG/Gacha rule!

Maryanne Solo said that she didn't like gambling. So I asked how she felt about slave auctions.  Now a lot of posters are defending slave auctions, while at the same time criticizing gacha prize machines. One person called slave auctions as away to find a girlfriend. Would she say the same about *****? Some of the age players said the same thing. ***** was banned in 2007.  And that was banned because of some concerns in Germany, and people were passing out RL child porn.

With gacha, LL has had no contact with any country about gacha prize machines. None what so ever. Same with the states. Not one state has contacted LL, and said to them to get rid of gacha prize machines. Even if they did, then all they had to do was confine gacha machines to islands. Just like they do with Zyngo, and other games of skill. If you live in Florida, or in any state that doesn't allow games of skill, then you can't visit those states.

The real reason that LL is banning gachas, is because of the new owners. I would say one new owner.

What I think the creators of the gacha prizes, and the resellers do is this. They should file a class action lawsuit. The creators should file one, and the resellers should file one. But that should be a last result. Again, if this was because of legislation in other countries, then all LL would have to do is confine gacha prize machines to certain islands. Thats all they had to do.

I was going to post a picture. It showed two women up for auction. One White, and one Black. You can find it in search places. Now I don't know how anybody can defend slave auctions. This isn't just giving money to a woman in exchange for sex. This is auctioning off of somebody. Yes it is an avatar. But just like *****, slave auctions need to go.  You don't need to simulate having people being auctioned off. Or being treated worse than dogs.

  1. These are people willingly participating in a fantasy adult roleplay. I suggest you don't participate and avoid the subject entirely as it's obviously upsetting.
  2. Adult work is work, valid and something else entirely. Have you tried avoiding adult workers too, I'm sure they would appreciate it.
  3. Stop torturing yourself obsessing over what other people are happily and willingly enjoying in a fully consensual setting that harms no one. It's unhealthy.
  4. What have you got against dogs? Seriously dude. Leave the good puppers alone.

They screeched about lucky chairs being in the same class of gambling.

They caterwauled about how KittyCats and other breedables are teh debil.

They're now grasping at straws at this point with comparing make-believe slave auctions with gachas.

Gacha deprivement syndrome is a crazy thing to witness.
