They banned us and accused us of begging! 👻 Another year, I went to a party inside a giant neon fly 😎 Do you do anything on Halloween on SL? I see Germany listed here, but can tell you from personal experiance that Halloween was not traditionally celebrated here. I was first introduced to the concept by american TV shows as a child, but nobody would celebrate it or decorate their houses and no children would go around the neighborhood to ask for candy. As someone who spent their childhood in the UK , I did not celebrate Halloween, it was not a part of English history and English culture. 3. UK? No, not sure its really taken off. When I was a choir kitten we used to do a shindig for All Saints, although didn't get the extra few bo we made for weddings. Ofc, now we just fire up the wickerman although thats sort of only roughly the same day. If raining, we watch the telly. As for Canada, can only speak of my time in Quebec where it was seen as odd. And in Sweden, practically non existant, as there is another eve associated with brooms etc. So if celebrate = places where corps (haha) are trying to flog stuff then sure. That said I have my Magenta costume on standby for any outbreaks of fun. We don't have such celebration ("Halloween") , it's part of a totally different culture, not even somehow related to the official religion which is Christian Orthodox, plus... we definitely have no bonds to Celts or Gauls. Who knows maybe some kids could be influenced by this "trend" due to U.S movies and such but never seen anyone celebrating it in my whole life, it would be a bit weird to be honest. The typical Swedish Halloween pretty much means there's a discount on candy and that there's going to be some horror movies on the tellie, I wouldn't call that 'celebrating'. We do, on the other hand, have Allhelgonadagen (All Saints' Day) which coincides with Halloween (well, the day after - putting Halloween on Allhelgonaafton - 'All saints' eve'). Which frankly all Western Christian nations probably have in their calendar and observe to some extent or other. Here it's a day where you go to the graves of lost loved ones to tidy it and maybe leave a flower or candle. As for observing Halloween in SL ... Nah. Not a fan of commercial holidays. As a fan of horror I'm quite glad there's a bit more focus on 'spooky' stuff coming out for events and such, but as a snob I tend to look at most of it as the themed trash it is - but occasionally there'll be something decent around. 3 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For me it's always just been a bit of fun, an excuse to wear something unusual and a little outrageous. I don't take it seriously nor judge anyone who prefers to ignore it. In London there's usually a few fun parties going on, people dressing up, some Halloween shop decorations and themed things. Nothing particularly big like I see going on in the US. But I'm a bit of a goth at heart and attracted to the macabre, so this time of year I'm drawn to an occasion that celebrates such things. And goodness knows we all need some levity and a break from the true horrors of the real world from time to time. But apparently everyone got their panties in a wad over it...omg ffs. people dress up all the time in SL and they pretend to be things they are not, but they absolutely will not celebrate Halloween.(explain the logic here) All it is is a good time for a party for kids and adults alike. (I reckon those might be the straight edge who only go human in SL to..) I can not believe how many Halloween haters there is in the crowd. I adore it, I love all Hallows eve and I LOVE that we will have a full moon this year!!! I know it will be a special Samhain!!! Haters gunna hate!
