1) What type of house will it be?

2) How big it should be?

3) What What kinda society u wanna live in (total privacy, regular society meet ups and fun event within society people, always filled like some market nearby)?

4) what kinda public places you will like to have in society ?

I don't suppose I'm the kind of person you really want answer from since I build houses myself and also run a community but...

1) Type of house: Cain Maven's Siena III is by far the most popular house among the copybotters on opensim and since the copybotters are thieves and don't pay for anything, they don't have to worry about the money. So: Late 20th Century mediterrean style luxury villa texured in toned down light, earthy colors. Think people looking for a digital facsimile of the life in luxury on the Riviera or in South California they dreamed of when they were young all those years ago.

2) Size: Huge

3) Surroundings: island with palms and a sandy beach as far away from other people as possible.

4) Public places: just make sure there are no clubs or malls in the same sim.

I know, this is the ultimate Second Life cliché but it is popular. There are several other niches of course but if I was to start an SL house building business today, that's what I would have gone for.

Something unique - something not repetitious.

(By "repetitious" I mean things like, "Starting the same thread in multiple sections of a forum.")

Nothing overly complex, not that I am one to speak, I added a elevator to my house because I had gotten bored and wanted to expand DOWNWARDS.

But if I were restricted to prefab houses or no hyena tunnel digging, I'd prefer a similar house to the type I have on my parcel. Simple, single story, nothing extremely fancy but gets the job done. (Pics: https://imgur.com/a/9XoAXxT)

NORMAL PEOPLE SIZED. Assuming you are talking about scale. I see too many houses in SL that are scaled 1.5x their normal size and I look teeny in them even though my height is set to a normal human height.

If you mean size as in square feet of usage, different housing is for different people. Personally since I live in my SL house alone(except for friends who like to hang out here and my bot/alt/husbando), my house uses a footprint of about 16x26x7(1 bath, 1 bed, 1 closet, 1 garage, 1 kitchen, 1 living room and 1 study). The study could be also be used as a extra bedroom(I've shrunk it down for room for the elevator so It would be able to fit a decent enough sized bedroom). So it could work as a 2 bedroom house on that footprint.

I would imagine more bedrooms/features would use more space unless it is two story.

A community with roads and stores would be neat, but often this adds rules that would otherwise interfere with my preferred living style. Personally if I had the opportunity to make my dream community, it would be a community with:

  • Strict housing style rules(Not that each house has to look the same, but they must blend with style). As much as I love creative freedom, when building a community, even in real life, housing styles are often controlled for a reason, that reason being your simple housing of regular style would look very out of place if your neighbor on the left had a sci-fi facility house and the neighbor on the right had a fantasy floating wizard castle. Of course this is only the exterior, people are free to do what they want on the inside such as putting floating magic crystals on tables, or sci-fi hovering beds.
  • NO BREEDABLES. I understand many love breedables, but they are so darn script heavy and love to move around. I wouldn't mind it if it where very very smartly crafted breedables(EG: if no one was in range of 8m, they enter idle mode and DO NOT DO ANYTHING, everything is handled via time scaled simulation on a remote server until ready). But no breedables seem to do this. Pets I don't mind, especially those that use animesh and pathfinding because they are very low lag, sometimes..
  • clothing optional and bondage friendly as long as it isn't a sex thing. Neither are a sex thing for me, and I don't care what happens inside the housing, but I wouldn't want to see people doing it on the front lawn/road ways/public areas. tiny text because scared to admit publicly, maybe people will glance over it.
  • A community club/pool with event calendars and what not would be neat, especially one restricted to the community and it's friends only so everyone will know each other.
  • A public market(that being people can rent vendors there without being part of the community and visitors can buy from there as well)/a small restaurant destination, etc would be amazing. Of course the former being a RP style destination.
  • A community that takes input from it's community before doing things, eg: Voting on changes, petitions, etc.
  • Avatar friendly, doesn't matter what avatar you have(unless ponies which look really out of place with cellshading), be it human, furry, elf, ayylmao, etc, as long as you abid by the rules and be nice.
  • Adult rated regions.
  • no child avatars which scare me. I don't have a problem with them but they scare me on adult regions.

Copy/pasted from the above thing:

  • A community club/pool
  • A public market(that being people can rent vendors there without being part of the community and visitors can buy from there as well)
  • A small restaurant
  • other various RP destinations
  • A functional arcade would also be cool

So in short... are you planning to build a themed community with residential options?

Yes, I came across many people who are living alone and are desperate to live in a community where they have neighbor to talk to and have friends living around with whom they can participate in fun events, go shopping extra. So i was thinking to design a residential community with people sharing same time zone so that they can live together like a big family

Thank you very much for your reply, and I wanted to collect point of views from as many people I can and since you are already running communities your advise matters a lot :)

1) depends on the mood of the time as I swap houses regularly

2) large enough that I can put all I want to in it

3) none of the above, my land is open to all comers with no restriction I dont mind random visitors however the thought of living in a "community" is absolutely repellent

4) None obviously see 3

I do not know how with so many years of SL I did not know the constructions of Cain Maven, although the prices are many light years of my life! I will visit you.
Already ChinRey I have a little house that I bought in the world and also I have lived in your community for a few days. ;-)

I suppose I have to add a disclaimer:

I am not in any way associated with Cain Maven, I haven't even met him. But I do see that particular house a lot on the pirate grids where they are frantically copying whatever is trendy in Second Life and don't bother paying for anything so I suppose the style is popular in SL too.

My own houses are in very different styles from this and intended for very different market niches.

I edited above.
I did not join Cain Maven to you ChinRey. Error in translation.
I understood your post well. Ty.

I live on about 11,000 sq m and the building covers about 1/3 of it. It's an old brick commercial building of some sort, probably built in the 20's. Some of the decorative aspects might raise eyebrows today, but oh well, they were acceptable when the place was built.

There's lots of vacant land around my place. I dunno why no one wants to move in. The land flippers are being very reasonable, offering roadfront for only about $6 L per sq m (500% markup).

Secondlife "communities" tend to have Homeowners Associations. I lived in one for a while, and being a conscientious tree hugger I thought I'd try and help  save the planet by putting a clothesline in my backyard to save on electricity. I got a cease and desist order before the first load of clothes was dry.

I kinda like what my Partner and I already have in SL; a Spanish-style home in a largish skybox with lots of grass, water features, wandering goats and a gigantic rabbit wandering the grounds.

Most important is a large seating area around the house so we can have people over to do that really dull and old-school “talk and socialise” thing.

Since we’re on the MadLands, there really is no specific “community” as we’ve had to build up high in order to escape the bordering tacky-strip-club builds and wandering griefers. We didn’t start off as Altitude Isolationists, but hard experience drove us up there.

I like to socialize and except for a “no RL politics” ground rule I like having a diverse range of guests who appreciate music and all things Geek :-)

If you really want to know the kind of place I'd love to live at in sl (and I have actually, it's simply not fiscally sound at the moment to do so again lol)

One whole sim..I don't do community living. I want one entire full prim full capacity capable sim.

On that sim you would find....

1/4 or so of the sim for my own personal space, where there will be...

One house-likely one I already own-very few of which are mesh, but I'm not a meshist so..I don't care :P  It will be furnished, but not too fancy, this isn't a museum, it's a home

A garage attached to said house, for my workshop, bikes, tools, my toys...and whatever else I wanna shove into it. A house needs a garage..ok, MY house needs a garage.

A yard with trees and bunnies and a puppy, and butterflies, and a couple goats, and lightning bugs-no not the particle kind, a homey looking sort of place-inviting and friendly, comfy and just perfect

3/4 of the sim set up for public use where there will be...

places to walk, to roam, to watch nature...lots and lots of nature, with tons of places for people to take pictures, places for folks to sit down, relax, take some time out of their day to reflect, and generally find peace..with or without someone else

waterfalls-with a lazy river leading to the lake below-and plenty of frogs, turtles, salamanders, minnows and other water wildlife, hidden secrets(no, not your kind, Victoria!), winding paths, flowers and trees, and lots of weeping willows-I love weeping willows they are my all time favorite tree in the world, both worlds

a bit of wildlife roaming here and there, some baby bear cubs-and mama, can't forget her,  deer, bunnies, raccoons, butterflies,  hummingbirds, lots of other birds, chipmunks, squirrels...whatever other animal I can think of

a small lake/pond where you can swim, feed the ducks, take out a paddle boat, canoe, whatever tickles your fancy

Incidentally, this is also my ideal rl home...so, any rich folks ever want to donate some rl land to the cause, it'll be put to good use, I can promise you that! Even the sl equivalent will work :D A girl can dream, right?

A big modern house on an island, but I would make it open to the public so anyone could come visit any time and I would just hang out in a bikini and meet the people as they come visit.

For the challenge of it, I have built several houses and utility buildings over the years, and I have made buildings for groups I have belonged to, but I don't care to "live" in them.  When I am in world, I spend almost all of my time outside.  Most of my land is countryside -- lightly wooded, with a couple of ponds and some grassy open spaces where I can relax with friends.  The house there is a Mediterranean style building with an open atrium.  It's just for show, as a focal point, and is mostly unfurnished since I rarely go inside it.  When I need to be indoors, I use a sky platform.  it's usually because I am building or scripting something that is supposed to be used indoors, so I need a realistic workspace to give me a sense of scale and setting.

I have purchased a few homes from other creators, ones that looked interesting. I was never able to find something I really liked. So I built my own.

I've never wanted a big house in SL. It's sometimes hard to find places to put them. I don't need a lot of rooms, and in any case I wouldn't really feel like filling them all up. Skyboxes haven't appealed to me as I like having a front door and a back door that opens into a yard. I like having a street too.

I guess this is what it boils down to: I want a house, on a yard, with a yard, on a street that actually goes somewhere, not just to the edge of a sim, but somewhere else. And I want a driveway, with space for a car. I want to be able to drive that car to different places on the grid.

So yeah... that's what I want. But, I think perhaps there's a small chance this may be outside the scope of your plans.
