  1. I have actually started chekcing out various mesh head demos. I can already tell it is going to be a very slow process. I do much prefer the clothing options now that I have a mesh body. I hated the mesh standard and fitted sizes that never ever really fit right on the classic body, but had no options for tweaking the alpha section. I was one of those adamently in the camp of "I do not want to modify my body for clothes". I will say though that I understand the OP feelings about change. That is likely why it is taking me so long to go to a mesh head - because it will change my look (though I have done that myself a bit over the years). Truthfully, if I hadn't been gifted the mesh body, it likely would have taken me another 6 months to get there - or at least another 3-4 months.
  2. For high heels, you pretty much have to have mesh feet these days. Before I had a mesh body, I picked up a Slink compatible set (flat, mid, high) on the MarketPlace for pretty darn cheap. I was able to get a decent match -- using the GetColor app, I think. It is a viable option while you consider the mesh bodies out there and make decisions in that direction. Skell is correct in that the majority of women's heels are the 'high' feet ones. However, as someone else mentioned, if you want the true full Slink set of feet, it is almost the cost of a full mesh body. If you want to only wear flats and/or boots, you can still find versions of those inworld for classic feet, just not heels.
  3. I gave up on the land seaching via inworld search or the forum ads - it is like listening to a used car salesman trying to make all the defects sound like wonderful features (kinda like bugs). I'm going the route of randomly clicking on areas of the map that I like, looking for the ones that say 'abandoned', and then going to investigate the location. When I find something that seems perfect "for me", then I'll put in a ticket to LL to see if I can get it.
  4. The advantage of a rezzing area is that people can rez their own boats and some folks are definitely picky about their boats. A boat rezzer then gives the sailing experience to those folks that don't have their own boat. The best of both worlds and appealing to the majority of people would be both, a rezzing area and a boat rezzer.
  5. General Discussion is for anything that doesn't really fit in any of the topic specific sub-forums (and that is subjective). The Adult section also has a General Discussion sub-forum that would be for "general" threads that are more of an adult nature - i.e. discussions about BDSM or specific sexual discussions. However, the posts there must still meet the overall forum PG/General guidelines - i.e. still no nudity and be careful with the wording.
  7. It worked that way for my alt. Tier is paid in arrears, but your Premium membership does cover that time period - otherwise, they would be double billing you. If you are using more than your 1024 (or 512 before it changed), then you will get one final bill for that tier, which will generate on whatever your Tier billing date is and that may or may not correlate at all with your Premium billing date. That may be what happened to your friend. Say the Premium billing date is the 10th and you sell/abandon all land on the 9th so that you could downgrade. However, if you actually had enough land so that you were also paying monthly tier and the tier billing date isn't until the 30th, you'll still get that final tier bill on the 30th. That bill should still only be for however much land you had above the 1024 (512 before).
  8. You do not need to leave any groups, but you will not be able to join any new ones until such time as you are down to the Basic limit of 42. For your Linden home, your premium will cover it up to the Premium renewal date -- i.e. abandon it no later than the day before that renewal date (shown on your Account Summary page) and do the downgrade right after abandoning your home. To abandon the home, go to it, click the land title at the top of the viewer, which opens the Land info. Click Abandon. Oh - and don't forget to pick up all of your belongings before you do the Abandon. Side note - you can abandon the home and do the downgrade anytime from now to the day before that renewal date. Your Premium benefits, including the weekly stipend will continue until the renewal date.
  9. There was a Flickr certificate issue for a while yesterday, but it is cleared up now. I can get to the Flickr album.
  10. Guys, I found some stuff at an event that is not just Jeans and Hoodies. Granted, I can't really imagine most of you in this, but .............. in case you do want to check it out: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Tropical Orchid/195/193/999
  11. Oh yeah, the Gatcha re-sale stuff. I had completely forgotten about those. I'll keep that in mind.
  12. You are limited to 512 sqm of land and thus 175 LI and the houses themselves are really pretty 'meh'.
  13. I am not a Gatcha person, partly because I am too much of a control freak to leave my so called purchase to chance. However, I was picking up the 30L gifts at the current Vintage Gatcha Fair and liked the face tattoos that Fallen Gods had out there - some nice fantasy ones and they are one of the few places that still supply system layer tattoos in their packages. Anyway, the ones I liked were only 30L a pull, so I clicked it a few times. Got a total of 6 of the tattoos, managing to get at least one of each of the four styles and got 2 Gold Rares. Not too bad for something like my 2nd or 3rd time of ever doing a Gatcha. I can see how it could get addictive too. ETA: After looking more closely at some of the other Gatchas, I don't have to worry about getting addicted. There is no way I'm paying 30-50L per play to try getting all of the various pieces of some outfit. With the way my luck usually goes, I'd end up paying L$1000 for a bunch of pair of the same colored socks and/or panties and never manage to get the actual dress to go with them. The tattoos were easy because I liked the design and would have been happy with roughly 75% of the colors and didn't need multiple pieces for one wearing.
  14. Since yours is working, I went and checked. Apparently they have fixed the certificate issue because I can now get to the site.
  15. And now I cannot get to Flickr at all. All browsers refuse to go there, telling me that the website's security certificate has been revoked.
  16. My guess would be possibly a Premium member that let their payment method lapse (expired card, removed payment info, something) and their account is now being held hostage until they either pay up or a certain amount of time passes. I have/had a friend that lived with me for a while. She got sick and stopped coming into SL and never updated her credit card info with new expiration date. A few weeks after she technically went into delinquent status, I could still see her profile inworld, but not on the web. After some number of months (3-6 or so), she disappeared from my land group. If I remember correctly, I did a bit of testing at that time using an alt and that is when her profile became unavailable inworld. I could still see it, but I surmised it was because she is on my friends list. Note that even though my land group did not show her any more, her profile still listed my land group. Sounds like LL did something around that time that basically removed her from everything but seems to have frozen her profile as it was prior to that. So, if she is a Premium in deliquent status, her profile is still inworld for a while and she's still a member of groups for a while, all until LL gets paid or wipes her out. Or the web profile is just borked.
  17. Based on this, I could see Basic accounts maybe being given smaller limit of how much they could cash out each month and/or how much L$ they can buy/sell , maybe some limits on the number of MP items they could have, things like that. Let them keep being able to do all the things in SL that you can do, but limit how much of it they can do. For Premiums, early access to events could be interesting - that's definitely better than just being guaranteed to get into an already over-crowded one. I'd love to have some more themed areas inworld for owning land and living in, where the type of building around you is more controlled, but I don't want to pay the outrageous re-seller fees for said land. I'm not sure how LL could facilitate something like that though without it benefiting the land re-sellers more than anyone else.
  18. that would be quite unfair towards teh Belgians... it's forbidden in the Netherlands as well Not if Belgium and the Netherlands consider it gambling. If your specified address or connection currently comes from various countries and some states in the US, then you can't get to the gambling sims - because it is illegal in said countries or states. If gambling is not legal in your country/state, then LL "attempts" to keep you from it. There are way around that - I'm sure some people do it now to get to the gambling stuff, but LL has done their due diligence on it. Same philosophy for gatchas if a country considers them gambling. However, I'd be willing to bet that there is no way currently for LL to know whether you are putting money into a gatcha machine versus any other purchase. Thus the only way they could even attempt to control it would be if they declared that all gatchas had to either be in designated gambling areas or some other designated area that they could control the access to.
  19. I go out dancing, in RL, every Wednesday night to a free dance club and it is one of the largest dance clubs in my area. They only charge a cover on weekends and "Ladies' Night". Good luck with that. Let us know how it works out for you.
  20. I'm not totally sure what kept me here at first. I remember wandering sort of aimlessly during my first few logins, bouncing to various spots that I either pulled from search or some sort of destination guide. Most were just your typical sex spots. I did manage to meet a few nice guys during my bouncing around, so that gave me some people to log in and dance with. At some point, I discovered a hunt - Treasure Quest actually did real hunts back then and you got gifts. I love hunts and deciphering clues, so I got hooked on those quickly and that gave me something else to log in for. Somewhere in the first month or two I discovered the forums. The Forum Cartel group was just forming and buying land for the inworld Hangout. I joined the group and started meeting people that I enjoyed conversing with - and that got me fully hooked.
  21. OMG - I haven't seen that in years
  22. Tell him that Chihuahuas are incredibly irritating because of their high pitch tiny dog yap-yap pretend bark. He is much better as a big dog with a proper 'woof' bark.
