  1. You can check the object for scripts, but if there is a tracker in it, the script is likely not modifiable so you can't read it. Best course of action is to simply trash any item given to you by people you don't trust.
  2. This system will do nothing more that show if you are online or not. There are tons of ways to figure that out -- see all the ways listed above. However, the only way you can truly be "tracked" is if you have given the other person the ability to map you inworld or if you are wearing something that contains a location tracker in it.
  3. Ahh - I had to grab the picture and blow it up larger. I modified the lighting a bit to better see it. It actually looks like a lightened section all the way across the top. It is much easier to see in the photo editor though.
  4. For the phone, us oldies are just used to our names not showing up. Even now, I don't always get someone's name - sometimes just their phone number comes through, so introduction there is still a good idea since you never know what others may or may not see. It just seems odd to me when I see it in the forums - and here it seems that it is often the young ones that always give their name.
  5. Are you talking about the area I outlined in red? If so, does the hair have some alpha in it? That is what it looks like to me - sort of how hair with alpha looks from certain angles with certain lighting. Especially if the leaves behind you also have alpha areas.
  6. This is one of those comments not meant for the main masses: Why do people tell us their name when they make a post and want to be contacted? You know - when they say something like "IM me, my name is blah-blah-blah". Do they not realize that their name is literally right there with their post and everyone can see it? They have to log into the forums using the SL username. Is it really that confusing or complicated?
  7. I think originally the idea was that people could provide payment info to get those privileges. The original thinking was likely that the accounts with no PIOF would mostly be the true griefers, etc... I don't think it was initially realized how many people actually make or earn enough L$ inworld to live a decent SLife without ever having to put in payment info. I don't think it was ever intended to apply to the folks that do contribute to SL in some monetary way, even without payment info.
  8. There are cases -- certain permission combinations probably - that will prevent you from pulling objects out of a 'worn' box. I'm not inworld, so can't verify the specifics. However, it is the reason that we sometimes have to TP home to try on a DEMO if it comes in a box without an auto-unpack--when-worn script. I actually ran in to this just this past weekend and it always ticks me off when it happens.
  9. Have you specifically talked to PayPal about this. Once upon a time, you were allowed to have a personal account and a business account as long as they each had their own separate email and financial specifications.
  10. What she means is that if a new Basic account cannot rez, then they have no way to rez their purchased boxes if those boxes don't have an auto-unpack script in them that activates upon 'wearing' the box. And just because an account has some L$ for buying things, does not mean they have PIOF -- they could have gotten the L$ from the Realms or such.
  11. Is it possible that the avatars you are seeing are simply bots registered by the place owner to make the place look like there are patrons? Bots wouldn't truly be playing the games and I don't think they have to have payment info.
  12. If the LOD change doesn't work for you, try TPing away and back. I get this issue sometimes and that is what fixes it for me. I also will play with LOD slider next time.
  13. Ugh - nothing like getting to work on a Monday, logging in and immediately being notified of problems. *sigh*
  14. Yes. I know because I still use a megaprim for a basic platform in the sky on my plot. I just lowered my draw distance to 32m and while I can't see pretty much anything else around me, I can still see the entire platform - I am standing on it at one end.
  15. ^^ This is me. I have a wonderfully organized section for everything, unfortunately my "to be sorted" folder is way too large and usually grows rather than shrinks. That folder itself was getting so out of hand way back whenever that I actually created a few sub-folders in it (clothing, furniture, poses, hair, etc...). Every now and then, I'll make myself do some serious inventory work and then the 'to be sorted' folder will shrink. However, I'll soon find myself doing too much shopping and/or hunts and the next thing I know, that darn folder is growing again. I probably wear as many items or more from that set of folders as I do from the truly organized set. *sigh*
  16. In addition to adding the bank account or credit card, did you go through the steps to have PayPal 'verify' it? For a bank account, PayPal makes a tiny deposit transaction and then you have to tell them how much it was. For a credit card, I think they make a tiny charge and then reverse it. Anyway, for my account - US - I log in to PayPal and land on a Summary page. The bottom left side of that page has a link of "See how much you can send with PayPal". When I click that, the top of the page shows the Verified symbol - there used to be another way of seeing that, but I cannot remember how. Anyway, it looks like this: Does yours show as Verified? If not, then either do the verification steps or talk to PayPal about what might have gone wrong with the process. If it does show Verified, then you might need to talk to LL Billing. However, as Lindal mentioned, if your PayPal is backed by a bank account only or that is the only method you've authorized for LL payments, then first make sure you have a PayPal balance. This isn't always needed, but sometimes it does fix problems.
  17. I do log in with Catznip when I'm doing hard core inventory work because of the awesome new inventory features. I desperately want those Catznip inventory features to be incorporated into Firestorm.......... like really, really bad. Inventory is the one area that I think most viewers really fall down on. There are so many things that could be done in that area to help people out.
  18. Correct - and for the time being there will be no changes in the plans or costs. However, if your Flickr current has adult photos -- truly showing nude bits -- those will likely need to be removed by that May date or they might be removed for you.
  19. If it was purchased inworld, then there will be transaction information OR the purchase did not really go through and that means that you did not really lose any money. Verify you are looking in the right place -- go to secondlife.com and look here: Remove the L$0 transactions and modify the dates if needed: If it does not show up, then you really did not lose any L$. For some reason the transaction simply failed. You can try again.
  20. ^^ This. That is basically why I figured it would be safe to start a thread about it.
  21. First off, remove the name from your post because it is against the rules to name people here. Second - We are not LL, so we can only offer suggestions. Have you checked the store to see if there is a Redeliviery terminal - and if so, did you try that? If there is not a redelivery terminal or if it doesn't work, have you contacted the person? When contacting someone about a non-delivery, you'll need to send them proof of your purchase (though some can find it on their own from their own L$ info). Best thing is to copy your transaction information (from your Dashboard / L$ Transaction History) and paste that into a notecard and then give that notecard to the person (drop it on their profile).
  22. Darn - looked really awesome. Guess that means you did a super job setting up the scene.
