sirhc DeSantis replied to Naiman Broome's question in Linden Dollars (L$)
Why not accept the mechanisms available and work with. EU (for now sigh) and never had a problem even if I have E-residency -

Fascinating. I run a ban line detector (well parcel actually as it predates the viewer thing) on the roads as I like the tarmac. I look forward to the coming arms race on ahem 'orbs'. And so nice to see an old school positive set channel too.

Failing to see the tpyo there - unless it is about donkeys, so its two sides of the atlantic seperated by a common language

Must admit that creating something that melts phones has its appeal CoffeeDujour. I would view that as worth a Nobel.. To those asking for a 'phone app SL' - Why is there no equivalent to SL already available? You number in your billions (probably) so why has no one made anything similar? Mayfly attention span? If you just want to 'chat' then there are options. Use them.

@Callum Meriman Interesting idea although how to implement - specific servers running parallel old/new style with estates running on one type? As the law of unintended consequences lurks (not an exact match but the mass rush to convert prim builds to complex hull clangs a bell. That was fun.) @Oz Linden Changing streaming to rendering sounds like a plan. Always liked how SL calls things in its own unique way but that one makes sense. Also looking forward to this as long as the new rules are laid out - I know I know -

I wouldn't trust reddit if it said water was wet but I guess its another source. Anything to help a new user make a decision that makes them likely to stay in the first place seems a bit more useful but if thats been tried and failed then yes, make a call and let people change afterwards. It might even work. Just implement *something* -
Exploring The Digital Ruins Of 'Second Life'
sirhc DeSantis replied to Jazzimus Maxwell's topic in General Discussion Forum
Where to start - well, echo 'Digg is still around?'. After that a mash up of bits of articles I have seen before done by others , badly written* (the digital ruin is a giveaway but easy enough to find whole chunks). The list of attempted contacts... But the big eye ball head avatar because he was a resident... Resident geddit? You young people might have to look that up. Retro mining, ain't it grand. *not as bad as what if I had donded it but I don't get paid for it. -
Didn't this (or similar) come up recently?

It has been a fascinating threadette ( less than 100 has to be an ette. Possibly an orina). Backgound. When I was a Kitten our neighbours expressed surprise that we were not 'Pakis' as my Mum made a curry of a Tuesday. No big thing except where I was born 'Paki Bashing' was a thing after football. Made me think. Later Mum ran me through the 'rivers of blood' speech. Asked what I thought. Answered. Not bad for a Boots the Chemist counter girl. Similar changes of heart happened to my dad - nuff said now happily in Thailand as it was the place of his dreams during NS*. So as a Brit I look upon this from a US expressed point of view as - juvenile. Now back in the day as a Rude Boy I ran and kicked against the NF but - scars stay, muscles go. Attitude does not change. *NS National Service Yes I am that old.

@Fionalein My response, as I stated, was based on the snippet (a small part) of a profile that was posted and as such had to be mediated by not having seen the rest of it (and frankly not wishing to waste any time trying to find which particular stain on humanity it might be). There are in place rules that do apply to this subject, granted, which I would have no hesitation over. And I am a Brit (mostly*) so not sure what your point of 'Murican logics' might be. As for bebejee's point on already having my money well yes - once bitten, twice driven to check first, saving myself from accidentally passing on any more to people of this ilk. [ * as Feline leaning isn't yet recognised as a nationality - but come the glorious day ]

I'm not sure if it does contravene TOS (or is actionable) going just by that snippet Sticks in my craw to say it though but on that alone an AR would probably not stick. On the deletion part - yes I have after belatedly reading a profile. It means if I am about to buy from someone I do not have a good idea about already I always check. I do the same before chat/contacting too.
