My peeve? Children that pretend to be adults.

Time for some to grow up. Beyond time actually.

Well, it's true that we did get the usual and expected Linden condescension: play nicely or we'll take away your toys.

But it's also true that, finally, we got a real, substantive answer to our questions:

Quote

That said, I am in direct contact with the creators behind the Bonniebots and I have consulted our legal teams and a GDPR specialist, to give me a full understanding of the situation at hand.

...

I feel that I will be able to attain an ammicable and suitable solution to all soon, while preserving the spirit of the policy and allowing open exploration of Second Life to continue on a healthy trajectory.  Non-playable characters, "bots" and other automated means of roaming the grid are not prohibited in general at this time.

This is actually more or less what I thought was probably happening.

There's a two-fold paradox at play here, Solar.

On the one hand, had we received the answer we did above at the outset, we likely would not have needed four locked threads.

On the other, were it not for the four locked threads, we probably would never have never received that answer at all.

So, sorry, but I'm pretty unrepentant.

As for the accusation of being childish, I deny it vehemently. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go play virtual Barbie Doll in-world for a while. 😀

Yeah, not quite what I was talking about, @Scylla Rhiadra. It's the reactions some have had to the closures of those four threads, the attitudes of a few users, the inability of some to accept explanations when they are given ... Really the list for this particular event goes on.

And this is not the first time some of them have acted in such a manner.

Peeve: waking up from a long overdue nap (we're talking days overdue) and finding the thread I was having a civil, on topic discussion in has been closed, yet AGAIN.

I don't think they understood I wasn't using LL's definition as the be all and end all of bot defining but as a means of trying to explain why the rest of the world disagrees with LL's definition of what does and does not make a bot, a bot.

All I have wanted for the past 18 years has been a bot to do those tasks I don't always have the time to do, and bots are perfectly capable of doing without supervision.

I wish I could create one for myself. Then I would be the only one in SL with a bot that can terraform, be a security orb and a chat bot all rolled into one. 🤪

Spawnage spent $1600 buying herself a 24in drawing tablet last week so she can enjoy doing her drawing on something fancy and bigger than her tablet.  It arrives and turns out it needs to connect to a device (tablet or laptop or desktop etc) cos it's really nothing more than just a big monitor she can draw on.  No probs as she has a chromebook, laptop and tablet...but typical, it isn't compatible with any of her devices....so there goes another $1200 buying a new and fancy laptop.

Peeve: Nowhere in the vids and info we looked did it say or imply anything along the lines of being "just a big monitor".  And we looked at a LOT!

At least this will keep her happy and quiet...and I scored her Chromebook!

Yeah, Chromebooks are historically worse than potatoes!

That kid is smart!

Peeve:  The entitlement of some people regarding SL and games in general.  The entitlement of those such as copybotters.  People who come into games to do something destructive instead of constructive.  People who game games and take advantage of others.  It makes me wonder what is in their hearts, and it's got me a bit down.  It's got me down a bit because I think their intent is to bring us down and harm on purpose.

A lot have nothing better to do than to try and burn the world down.. Don't let them win.

Grab them bootstraps and pull up and try your best to put yourself in a better mood the best you can.

Thanks.  I have too much time on my hands right now to think because I have a cold and the cold is making me feel like not doing anything but rest, and then I start to think too much.  Overall, my SL has been a good one.  Most of life we think is like a roller coaster, up and down and up and down, but my SL hasn't been like a roller coaster, it's been mostly even keel overall.

Sometimes it's just good to put in a movie and escape a little that way.. Just get a good cup of tea or something to nibble on or something and set up camp on the couch and get taken away to someplace else.

When I ever get the flu or a cold and have a whole day of nobody in the house, it's me and my comforter and the couch and whatever I think I'm gonna have to get up for..

I like really long movies for that, so they can put me to sleep.. Those movie dreams can be really wild.. hehehe

I like to grab a favorite book and get lost in it, so I don't think too much.

I love a good escape.  A good book series or binge watching a TV series gem like Eureka (which is free for me right now) I've been so busy escaping that I came back to 10 pages of peeves since my last visit.  Looks like I missed out on some drama about bots or something.  Or just going for a walk and letting my mind wander.

Peeve: when you're trying to get to sleep and the cat decides that your eye socket is the perfect size and shape to rest its chin in. Between the tickly whiskers and the very loud purring, and the scratchy tongue licking all over my cheek and covering me in tuna-scented, goopy saliva, sleep didn't come easily.

This has likely already been posted in this thread, but since I'm relatively new to reading and posting in the forums...and it recently happened again...

Peeve: People who come right out and ask for your avie's shape numbers.  Really?  I always try to be nice, but this annoys me.  Now they've put it on me to find a polite way of telling them "not a chance"  I'm always willing to give suggestions, but "here's my shape?"  No way.
