Cindy Evanier
Current mood - Peed off. Parcel delivery note shoved through the door as I was literally standing in the hallway... Sorry I missed you..... wtf ! Was I supposed to be standing outside on the porch just in case a delivery appeared so you didn't have to actually knock. I flung open the front door just as the guy closed his car door and avoided eye contact with me. I understand its a busy time of year but these people trying to make a bit of extra money by doing delivery services for Christmas parcels need to pull their finger out. Now I have to pick up a parcel from some drop off centre because I wasn't in when they called! 😠 Not happening. Strongly worded email feedback sent. I am expecting redelivery, with added present wrapping, hallway brushed and polished. Maybe some dusting and of course the leaves brushed up from the driveway. Now the blood is pumping just in time to make my lunch and sit down to watch Liverpool ⚽ 4
LexxiXhan
Yesterday's uk election result was pretty devastating, but I'd rather not say more about that just now. I have my kids with me for the weekend, and feel blessed by their warmth, wit and our own sense of family and excitement as we plan our xmas celebrations together ❤️
Garnet Psaltery
I feel worse physically but it's just the typical 2nd-day-after-exertion effect with M.E. The walk to the polling station was gruelling but I feel good in myself for doing it. I'm getting more words written in a story I'm writing. So, body crap, spirits gathering.
Orwar
Today is a good day. Started off by listening through Hanzel und Gretyl's new album whilst event-hopping and catching up with my correspondences. A ton of gifts from Access to sift through - but hey, one is a drunk teddy bear! Also a bunch of demos from a store that's apparently closing down at the end of the year, so they're throwing a sale. Also basking in the horrified cries of people who are displeased with the UK election - it's funny how Democracy is sacred, until things don't go your way; and how people whose achievements could be compiled at the backside of a bus ticket begin to cry out for revolution. I'm not taking sides, but being a sore loser is just unattractive. The Swedish election next year may well be going the same way, by the looks of it - the social democrats are weaker than ever, and their desperate quick-fixes and surreal alliances have only driven them further into the ground, fueling the nationalists' successes, and by breaking the conservative alliance they have now driven them into a national-conservative bloc. Perhaps putting a brainless welder at the helm wasn't such a great idea, after all. A government ruled by communists, centrists and liberals together - did anyone seriously think that it would work out? Sometimes, things must go worse before they can improve. The political discourse has been completely derailed by ever-increasing polarization, and the results of arrogant idealism are beginning to show. One in four swedes are now willing to vote for the party which has frequently been called 'Nazis', and with the support of the conservative moderates and christian democrats, they may well tilt the socialist government out of the saddle. In times like these, I'm glad that I can't find it within myself to actually, really care about politics. I just find it entertaining; a spectacular display of rampant ignorance and incompetence. .. On a lighter note; being that it's weekend, I'll be treating myself to the most luxurious cheese toast brunch - 18 month aged grevé cheese and real butter, on a wonderful piece of toast garnished with poppy seeds.

BelindaN
*Blows Whistle* Come on, season of goodwill???? Democracy is organic. There will always be consequences which can't be foreseen. Add to that politicians who's self belief exceeds their ability and away you go. This is where we are in the UK and this farce can be traced back to the Cameron/Clegg/Brown shambles. Our Parcel Force delivery man has the habit of taking everything to the local post office, then whipping round, quietly pushing cards through doors without being seen. On Friday I got a card, went to the PO, and it wasn't there. He delivered it the next day all apologetic. This assumes a position of privilege, which seems to tally with your comments about 'sore losers' and being entertained by politics that you can't bring yourself to care about (correct me if I am wrong). It's not that it's bad advice, but it's only applicable to those who enjoy enough comfort and security to be in a position to help the less fortunate. In reality, those who care about the plight of others tend to be those already experiencing hardship themselves and can empathise with genuine concern for their welfare. They also, more often than not, already do what they can to support others despite limited resources. This thread is about how people feel, and has become a source of mutual support in many cases. When emotions have been running high for some of us, it's inevitable that we will react to our feelings and concerns being dismissed so casually. However, I agree that we should end any quarreling and that anyone inclined to continue should take it elsewhere. 4

Where is that money coming from? I sure have none of my own. You seem to think that I'm suggesting that any one person should resolve the issue of poverty through a simple act of charity; that's not what I mean. I said 'help', contribute to the effort; it can be something as simple as giving some spare change when someone holds up a cup, or it can be a more involved effort of educating yourselves and others on an issue. I've worked for my home town's mission, and the vast majority of effort and money was raised voluntarily from private individuals and companies, rather than government funding. They feed, clothe, wash and shelter people, they help them by offering moral and language support in their dealings with the authorities - volunteer hairdressers come around on a regular basis to cut hairs and beards; it needn't be money out of your own pocket if there are none that you can give, just make an effort in whatever way that you can and feel comfortable with, and you're already doing more than most. But most people aren't like that, though. Most people would rather look out for themselves, or even make fun of those who are struggling to make themselves feel better - most teenagers and young adults would rather get a video on their phone of someone who's fallen over with their bike, than help them up, and most people are too afraid of having to get involved, so they just walk by and pretend as if they don't see. And that is very much a part of why I've resorted to misanthropy, why I choose to laugh at the stupidity of it all, rather than be crushed by the realization of the callousness of society. That's my experience, my perspective, and my opinion. I'm not propagating that anyone should share it - I honestly don't care what other people believe in. But to assume that I laugh because I'm privileged, and then accuse me of assuming, it's just juvenile. I have probably spent a larger portion of my time and my resources than most around here, in helping others. But it's no competition, and I'm certainly no saint; but rather than bickering or crying about it, I choose to act, even if I'm well aware that my efforts alone can only do so much - it's through the combined efforts of all those people involved, that we make progress. 1 1

Drake1 Nightfire
How am I feeling? Welp, my mom died a year and a half ago, Christmas and Thanksgiving we here favorite holidays, I grew up learning to cook from her after my dad left when i was 3. We would cook ourselves a small dinner and watch a movie every Sunday. She remarried and my new dad turned out to be the best father i could ever want. He taught me what being a dad meant, sort of.. He worked 60+ hours a week and had little time for myself and my half sister. So i decided that if i ever had kids i would spend as much time with them as possible.Which i did. Christmas was always about the kids, myself and sister when we were young and then my kids when i had them. She loved making people happy, and i kind of naturally inherited that. I enjoy nothing more than making someone happy. Hell, i do it in SL. I give away more clothing than i sell, simply because thats how i am. The holidays suck without her here. I have to be the rock in my family as my dad and sis are copper to the core. Bright and shiny, nice to look at but weak on the inside. I'm tired of being strong. 3 years of mom being sick, then a year and a half of my dad and sis saying how much they miss her and how they cry at the drop of a hat.. Everything at this time of the year makes me want to cry.. Every song, every movie. My mother planned a trip to the Polar Express in NH when my kids were 2 and 4.. We had our own motel room with my kids, Mom dad and sis next door, Aunt and gran in the room on the other side. Big dinner at a nice rustic restaurant then a surprise train ride for us all on the Polar Express to the North Pole. We walked through the snow to a huge building where about a hundred people waited while a young lad read the story to us all. When Santa walked out my youngest wiggled free of me and ran full tilt into Santa screaming his name. He picked her up and gave her a hug. All the kids had name tags on and he said "Hello, ****." She freaked out. I went down and collected her, he gave her another hug and one for her sis who was with me. We all got a silver bell on a chain as we left. I still have them. I will always have them. And i will always cry when i hear Believe by Josh Groban. My mom did stuff like this all the time. Call us up out of the blue and say to pack a lunch we were heading to the Aquarium/Museum of Science/4H fair/Apple picking/whatever. So yeah, I am not in a good place, to top it off i had to have a molar pulled and apparently i have rheumatoid arthritis in my hip and its raining.. Gonna curl up and watch The muppet Christmas Carol with my youngest as she still believes in the Christmas spirit like me. Her sis is a grump... Merry Christmas..
