  1. My guess is the land size - why have 512 when you can have 1024, and perhaps the actual trailer size. It's a very small home compared to other themes and Medowbrook styles. Otherwise maybe it's just not what people want - I'm not so sure people's idea of a dream home or at least a nice home to play with in SL is a trailer. But of course we don't know how representative the poll really is. I imagine only a few people visit the forums compared to the general SL population, and the respondees may not be representative of the whole. Online polls are known for being potentially problematic (I did stats and other subjects concerning polling at university level). Not knocking the OP for doing the poll though, it's still interesting to see, so thanks:)
  2. The title of this post really sounds like a song title. I'm sure someone will come up with some lyrics which could be set to some soulfull tune "....I've got the Bellisseria blues.."
  3. Once you have received and verified ID in the form of scans for a user, are the scans destroyed? If not, where and how is it stored and for how long? Data is supposed to be kept for only as long as necessary. So in this case how long is necessary once it's been checked and verified?
  4. It's been said somewhere amongst the posts that those in the EU/UK have already been dealing with Tilia. If this is correct does this mean that those in UK who want to cash out lindens won't need to submit proof of ID? Not sure what info they would have already. If they have it does it need to be resubmitted or not? And for EU generally what proof of ID would be required anyway? @Linden Lab a bit more clarification on how this affects those outside of the US would be welcome. If it's somewhere already I'd appreciate a pointer to it (haven't seen it myself so far, but could have missed it).
  5. Link to thread showing new rez zone by houseboats
  6. Hi MzPenny, my thoughts: Picnic areas (rezzing) - even if they were set to auto return I think there could be down sides with griefers or people rezzing stuff they shouldn't be in the area, so I don't see this ever happening. - Rez zones - yes this has been discussed elsewhere and requested. The LL folks have actually set one up by some of the new houseboat areas (it's in another thread somewhere), so we may well see more coming - Events: The Bellisseria Fairgrounds island has been set up just for that purpose. Community events will be able to be held there (again the info is somewhere, not sure where now). If I get a chance to post links to more info I will (can't promise though )
  7. Maybe it could be called the '[some other adjective here] pickle' such as the sweet pickle, the salty pickle. But I would rather see a different food...I don't really like pickles and just think ugh when I see them :( I was disappointed when I first visited the squishy pickle and saw it was only pickles on offer...I like ice-creams and lollies!😁 But seriously, I agree, might be nice to have some variety for these community hub names in the same way as the Moles have added variety in the landscaping across the various regions.
  8. What I find exciting is that there could be quite a few themes coming...Patch said (in the Meet the Lindens if I remember correctly) there could be as many as 8 or so themes (so that means quite a number of styles overall). I can't imagine what they'll come up with next, but if we were to assume that they would be 'roughly' replacing the first gen home themes, then the homes on Bellisseria are the 'real world' or 'modern' type homes (replacing Meadowbrook), so perhaps the next one will be fantasy genre, i.e. replacing Elderglen.
  9. Thanks for this, great! Big thanks to LL too for listening to our requests for vehicle rezz zones inland. Wonderful!! I hope there will be more! I was able to rezz my little bug car here and had good fun driving around exploring the new regions. I'd have to say I agree with that. The roads were very bouncy, like having lots of potholes:) But I managed to get around without crashing into too many lamp posts!:)
  10. What I think would be awesome would be some way to create directly inworld, as you do with prims, but with quality of mesh (i.e. without having to convert anything like using a mesh creator). Alas, I doubt very much that will happen (anytime in the near future anyway) as Ebbe pretty much said in a video I saw online somewhere that they weren't planning to do that, and they thought that mesh was good as it gave creators the flexibility to create in whichever software they choose rather than be confined to using just prims.
  11. Thanks everyone so far for taking the time to reply!! :) There are some great perspectives here, and I appreciate all your responses. I certainly agree regarding home and garden items, there are some great items out there, which I don't remember seeing the equivalent of in terms of LI and quality in pre-mesh days (my Linden dollars often go through periods of decrease because I get more than I really need now!). I haven't heard about Bakes on Mesh...will have to look that up, so thanks for mentioning those who did:)
  12. No, it was posted because I genuinely wanted to hear from others what they think, as I know my assumptions may not be the 'full picture', and I'm curious. If you read the replies you'll see that many have pointed out positives for mesh, including myself.
  13. Umm...okay...at the risk of looking stupid I'm gonna ask a question...why 'pickle'? Doesn't look like a pickle to me, and why 'squishy'..? I really don't understand the pickle references
  14. I've heard the line of thought mentioned here and there that before Mesh, when Prims were used to create objects and clothing, there was more variety, more 'creativity', but also maybe more possibility for anyone to create in SL (I'm talking mainly about items to sell inworld or on the Marketplace). For example, with the steps creators now need to go through to create clothing in SL it appears a greater skill set is needed compared to learning to use prims to create, so I wonder if it actually inhibits people creating for SL (i.e. you need learn a 3D modelling program, learn rigging, and also have to create for a number of different mesh bodies, not just the standard avatar, plus others skills I may not be aware of) . I'm not saying it definitely does, I'm wondering if this is true. Sure, before there was some learning curve to in order to build well with prims , but to me this is far less steep ( and maybe daunting for some) and involved than having to learn 3D modelling and rigging. If this theory is correct, then that may lead to fewer creators, and therefore potentially less variety. This seems to me to be true, just by what I see on the marketplace and inworld (but that could just be my tastes). In Prim days, because you could so easily rez prims and get to creating right there inworld, I would guess that more people were likely to give it a go. Of course, nothing to stop anyone doing so now, but in terms of selling items to others I think it's far more challenging in competitive terms because Mesh is better for land impact, and maybe because of realism etc. But I accept this may be a misconception, and would like to hear others thoughts and perspectives on this. I'm not knocking Mesh as such. In terms of reduction of land impact, and I think probably the ability to create more 'realistic' items, I think Mesh is great. I only ever buy stuff that's low LI now. If I were to see a mesh house that's say less than 25LI and a similar one I like that's made from prims that's 100LI or more, I know which one I'm gonna get:). It's possible that the introduction of Mesh has brought more creators to SL (those who had the 3D skills or background), which offsets the loss of creators who don't learn the skills and stop making new items for SL. What do you think? Does the greater skill set that comes with Mesh mean less people are creating for SL? If not, why do you think so? Is another impact that there is less variety of objects created for SL? If not, why don't you think so? Do you think there isn't much difference now compared to 'Prim' days, just a different set of creators plus those who transitioned to Mesh?
  15. Their reasons for releasing at the times they do was explained by Patch Linden in this thread Previously he has also said that because it's a team of people that is needed just to release even a single region, there is some coordination needed, so it's not just a case of flick a switch to to speak and the region is released. It sounds a bit more involved than that and that explains the limited time frame they can release in. I hope that helps.
  16. The next part of the continent looks to be in place below SSPE138 and SSPE139 (part of the coastline you can see on the SSP map) although you can't enter it:
  17. Lol, definately not, haven't played that for probably over 8 years (more I think). It was just so odd, and I remember thinking umm this shouldn't be happening, we don't have rain in SL unless it's particles or something by a resident on their own land. I was kinda excited at the same time thinking oh great, maybe this is just for Bellisseria. I might have to scout the area again and see if I can get it to happen again (doubt it though). Of course it could be some top secret LL experiment for a new feature going on (I wish)...we'll have to put together a team like one of those alien conspiracy shows and try and find out what's happening!
  18. In yesterday's Meet & Greet one of questions or brief topics was on how nice it would be to have a real 'environment' in SL (rain etc.) and it reminded me of something strange on one of the new regions...a couple of weeks ago (maybe less) I was exploring and taking photos (I was standing by the houses on the beach areas up around Jamesborough I think). Houses were up and there were trees etc. in place. As I was caming round to frame a shot all of a sudden there was a rain shower. I was very confused. I looked around to see if anyone else was around or if there was some object that could be generating it but there was nothing. It only lasted for a few seconds, and I wasn't mentally quick enough to capture it in snapshot because I was a bit stunned. Very odd...would love to hear any theories on this! As the region wasn't released yet I can't see how it could have been an object from a resident. Equally LL haven't introduced this kind of environment feature. So I can't explain it. I know we have our Bellisseria ghosts, but spooky rain too?...come on now...
  19. Don't forget that homes like caravans are 512 sq m plots, doubling the number that can be placed on each region, thus released in each region (I assume that's what will happen). If future themes are the same size, then more released too. They have already stated that as things progress they expect the roll-out to move much faster, and are constantly looking at different release strategies to facilitate this. Best read the interview for a better idea: https://thebellisserian.wixsite.com/editionone It's highly unlikely they are going to take 10 years to complete this project.
  20. As they have said that they will not be issuing updates or notices for the weekly small releases (only for larger releases like the next theme) they certainly won't be telling us at what time. I would expect it might vary from day to day by the odd hour or so, but going on past releases it seems to be the morning SL time (US time), which is late afternoon/evening for Europe. Just as it was yesterday. We know releases will come approximately 3 times a week, Mon, Wed, Fri (with some variation depending on holidays and other factors). That's all you can work with for now.
  21. Does anyone have the landmark for the ferries please? EDIT: Nevermind, found it it's just on the Bellisseria Fairgrounds.
  22. My personal thoughts on this topic is that it's the best solution in the current circumstances. At least this way there will be a constant flow of homes being released, albeit small releases, so that those eager to get one stand more of a chance now, rather than just having to rely on the possibility, no certainty, of maybe just a handful coming into the pool from being abandoned and being lucky enough to snag it, or the alternative of waiting for weeks or months for a bigger release. So now we have the certainty of more homes coming into the pool every week, coupled with possible abandoned homes which will increase that number. There will still be a bit of a land grab situation for a while, but people now have more opportunity to try and get a home. And it will improve going forward with the next large release of the new theme, and then constant regular small releases as now, which Patch talked about yesterday. As has been pointed out already, there is no one solution that will please everyone.
  23. As some people seem to have missed the two main updates, if you want to know about the new Linden Homes roll-out and forthcoming themes and things that might be in the works, then check out the stickied post at the top of the Linden Homes forum (and subscribe to it to be notified of new updates) And watch this interview with Patch Linden from 24 June:(starts around 12:45)
  24. What Patch said was that in the future they are planning to implement some system where there would be like little booths or something that vendors could rent out on some kind of rotating bases that sounds like, if I remember correctly, it would be for vendors who want to sell items that are in line with the theme of the region that booth is in (like maybe home add ons and the like). So I think don't people shouldn't start getting too excited thinking there's gonna be loads of shops available to rent to sell anything and everything. It sounds like there will be limitations to keep within the theme, but it's still in the works, so this could change yet. If you want to hear exactly what Patch said on this watch the recording. All the info he could talk about is in it:
