  1. Well hasn't even started yet and the region's full...just can't get it in EDIT: as the auditorium covers 4 regions I tried another one i.e. not Astound and managed it...for now...and they've just announced that a couple of the regions will be restarting so there's hope yet!
  2. Does anyone know if all the Meet the Lindens talks will be recorded so those who can't attend can catch up? Looking at the Second Life Youtube channel there are some recordings from past talks, but just wanted to check.
  3. ...so many are assuming that Patch will mention something about homes. Since it's such a hot topic currently it's not an unreasonable expectation. https://secondlife.com/destination/meet-the-lindens
  4. This reminds of something that struck me on Bellisseria i.e. the high LI of Linden items (landscaping props etc.), I guess because they are made with prims? Is there a reason they couldn't be low LI mesh items? I'm guessing as mesh they may take longer to rez if someone has minimal hardware and graphics card, is that a correct assumption? I'm so used to buying low LI items (like 1L, or 3L) I would have thought LL would go that way, especially with big builds like homes. Curious to know why they haven't.
  5. I love what I've seen of the event so far. I just wish there was less lag as it's making it really hard to get round and see everything in detail. I took a pod tour for a couple of regions (pod tours are always great), which is a really good way to get an overview before diving into the detail. What I adore about events like this and Burning Man is that it introduces me to to creators/groups/places that I perhaps hadn't come across in SL before. I love the creativity! And I think SL16B showcases a great diverse range of exhibits - there's fun stuff, historical, nature themes, sci-fi and more, a really great mix [not that impressed with the shopping as this was even more laggy - could only cam round, not move around, and it's just the same old same old clothes etc. which don't interest me, but I guess it does appeal to other's because it was very busy] I'm hoping the lag in the exhibit regions will improve this week as less people might be attending, so I can hang around more and take more photos for my blog and flickr too. Oh and the Bellisseria Community group exhibit which I managed to see yesterday was great, do check it out (there's a citizens one too but haven't checked it out yet). So far...loving it!!
  6. I saw that post too and was thinking about it. I'd love to know why this diversity is diminishing (or is it just a false perception that it is?). If it is, is it because the advertising is attracting more of those who want to make money, or some other reason, than those seeking a place to be creative, explorative or immerse themselves in those niche genres? It's really a shame, and I don't know why, but if anyone has any theories I'd love to hear them (may be a separate thread so as not to derail this one too much).
  7. Yeah, that's the general problem, there will always be those who don't know about the option whichever way it's set . I don't think there's a simple solution. Even if a notecard is given they may well not read it, or read it once then forget about it etc. etc.
  8. I don't think it's been suggested that it's permanently set to restrict sound, I think that would be a bad idea. What's suggested is that restrict sound could be set on by default, but you could still turn it off, i.e. the reverse of the the current situation.
  9. This has been asked for already and LL have said that it's just not feasible to do it. But someone in one of the Bellisserian groups did make some house numbers that you can put on your home, the object takes the numbers from your plot Slurl, really lovely idea and works well (sorry can't remember right now what it's called or who by, but it was very generous of them will try and post later).
  10. This is a good point (I've been in SL for years and am still finding out new things...) Maybe it should be set on by default?
  11. Considering that the over 38,000 homes they need to replace will not all fit on Bellisseria I think it's a safe bet to assume another continent will be coming in the future. As it seems (with the coming of the trailers) like Bellisseria has just the modern traditional home themes, I would imagine some kind of non-trad theme to be on the next continent, whether that be fantasty/sci-fi or something else, that kind of replaces the non-traditional ones such as Elderglen we see in the first gen series. We'll have a whole another round of watching a SSP unfold:)
  12. I have the same orientation and did the same thing (but ducks instead of Koi ). What I do now as well is set my draw distance to the minimum, 32, then I don't see the houseboats across the way (there is a little distance between this side and the next lot of houseboats), so I only see beautiful water: Before: After:
  13. I think the main banner should be on auto scroll. Every time I've landed on that page the 'Earn Money' big ad at the top is shown, and so seems like a blatant 'let's draw them in' advertising as often when people think they can earn money easily (hehe...they might be in for a rude awakening) they'll jump on board. Sad fact that's how it can be. I think it's such a shame though, as I really do believe that as a virtual world SL has so much more to offer than just making money, which I think is highlighted too often. All the things you can do, places to see, communities to join (or just have some me time), the ability to do a myriad things you might not be able to in RL - that's the big thing, the opportunities and potential which you may just not have in RL, or just the fun to do the same things in SL that you do in RL but in a different way if you chose. That to me is what should draw people in rather than the money side. I personally think it's more enriching. I do believe this would appeal to more people if it was presented in the right way and actually reach more people through better advertising. I really don't think it's as good as it could be. As has been said numerous times before elsewhere, the general impression of SL by those who don't know anything about it is that it's just a 'video game' or a place filled with sex, or some other negative perspective gained through stereotypes of it world presented in tv shows or films. Not as a world which can be rich with a myriad experiences and possibilities. But maybe I'm just an anomaly in thinking this way:) Ramble over:) I blame you CoffeDuJour! 😁 I was determined to post less on the forums...
  14. http://go.secondlife.com/landing/creator/?lang=en On this creator page wish they would expand on this creativity section to include more specifically art and culture. There are many people doing these activities inworld and SL has a lot to offer in that area. I mean it's amazing to think that you could bring to life art forms in SL that you perhaps couldn't in RL because of real world constraints whether they be resources, opportunity or others. E.g. you could create art installations, sculptures, photography, dance (we have SL ballet), immersive exhibitions etc. etc. I've seen some amazing stuff in SL. Why not have a video profile of an artist on that page too (there are high profile ones they could do).
  15. I do!!😀 Well not exactly a dish bag, but those pics are representative of the style I am drawn to ( but alas can't always find). In SL I get to wear stuff I wouldn't be able to in RL (usually precisely because they are haute couture or avant garde and my finances don't stretch to those price tags ). I'm so bored with seeing the same old same old clothing in SL, much of it lacks the creativity, or individuality I love to see and buy. So this ad would definitely peak my curiosity. As in RL there are many different kinds of people in SL with many different tastes and styles. What you may not like someone else will, and vice versa.
  16. Thanks so much for the detailed reply! I'll make a note of all this and take another look as soon as I can. I did look at the Casper instructions on the website but I think this will help with that, so great, thank you:)
  17. Same here, got quite frustrated eventually. I'll try again in a few days I think. I really want to thoroughly explore all the exhibit areas. Shopping was out of the question because of the lag. Tried keeping my graphics preferences quite low. I'd love to know how anyone manages to get around!:) But I did manage to catch Patch's opening speech and I even got some Linden bears (4 of them!):) That's a first for me:)
  18. I'm still a bit confused about all this (got the Casper system but still wasn't very sure what I was doing). For example if I had a toaster, a couch, 3 bookshelves in various positions, some wall decor on each wall and some rugs (random example!:) ) and I wanted them to be in the same position when I rez them again ( so wall decor on the right walls etc.), I would just select all the items, link them, then the script goes into the last item I linked selected before linking (or the first?). Then I take to inventory. When I rez the linked group everything will be in the right place? I don't quite understand how the box helps - is it that you just put the box back in the same position as it was taken, thereby making sure everything else is in the same position? Overall, it just seems a bit tedious having to select everything in my home. I'm sure I'm gonna make a mistake and miss things lol. Guess I could just do it in sections or something though...
  19. Thank you very much everyone! I'll check the thread and the Casper system:)
  20. I thought I saw a few people post somewhere about rez systems which allow you to take multiple items to inventory and then re-rez them in the same position, but I can't find where I saw it, and don't know what it's called (so I don't know what I'm looking from in the MP). Can anyone point me in the right direction please to any type of rez system/script that would do this? Or some other easy way? I'd like to experiment some more with the different home styles but loathe the idea of having to take back all my furniture and decor to inventory and then rez it and place it again if I decide I want to go back to what I have now. Thanks!:)
  21. Wow, really nice recreation! I think the trailers will only be 512 plots somehow..there are other posts somewhere talking about how LL folk hinted at giving options to have less land so you could also buy other land if you want to, rather than use all your premium allotment on a Linden Home, so I doubt it would come with 350LI. But it's just a hunch.
  22. Hello neighbour! I'm up in the set of houseboats below:) I would have loved your spot! Well done. If you ever plan on abandoning let me know!!😁
  23. Could anyone tell me where this will be please? At the location of Music Faire 1 (destination guide) or somewhere else?
  24. Managed to get back with less lag. Mesmerize is like a big park with the same type of landscaping as we've seen in Bellisseria and the preview area, really pretty!:
