premium premium membership is it worth it?
LittleMe Jewell replied to Alexa Dallas's topic in General Discussion Forum
Yeah, I actually consider the money LL gives me to be money that I otherwise would have bought anyway. So my Premium saves me the fees on said money transactions also. Just getting L$ does offset the cost in my eyes, but some only look at it from the actual US $ viewpoint and those folks would need to save their L$ to cash out to offset the renewal cost. -
I still have all the emojies, but that skin tone option isn't here at work - and all my new emojies are just black and white here. Totally odd, but nice to know that it might not look like this at home.

Yesterday, when I posted my response, my smiley window had a Skin Tone option. Today, I don't see that option. Yesterday, I was posting from home - today from work -- though in both cases it is the Chrome browser. Do others see a skin tone option in the smiley box? In the pic below, I noted where I saw it last night.

Sometimes the truth hurts

While you should be truthful in the information given, you do not have to give all info about yourself right up front. Nobody really wants to hear "Warning, I am bat***** crazy and will soon go off my rocker" on a first date - or even before the first date, just during a get-to-know-you conversation.

Can I somehow search my Marketplace history?
LittleMe Jewell replied to Jennifer Roundfield's question in Shopping
A MAJOR failing of the current MP, but unfortunately NO, not via a typical 'search' mechanism. -
Answer to a secret question and request for personal information
LittleMe Jewell replied to WhispersOfDreams's question in Account
I honestly cannot remember the choices that LL gave me for these questions, but I do know that some companies do not make wise choices and the people answering the questions do not realize it at the time. I recently had to select a security question and answer for a new account signup on another website. I had 4 choices of questions and they were all "Name your favorite xxxx (movie, book, teacher, singer)". Stupid questions on the part of the creator because "favorites" can easily change over time. The gist of all that is that if one of those type of questions was available from LL and someone chose it without really thinking it through, then I could see how someone could forget the "correct" answer 8 years later. PayPal. (OP: LL uses a variety of ways to identify that you are in fact the legitimate owner of an account. Note however, that I don't think you need to answer the security question just to add a PayPal account to your SL account. You might have to re-enter your SL password, but that is really it. The secret question usually comes into play if you have forgotten your password and no longer have access to your original email address. You also don't need to answer the security question to sell L$ and request credit transfer to PayPal.)- 6 replies

abuse Harassing Neighbor
LittleMe Jewell replied to Lilliana Corleone's question in Abuse and Griefing
Yes, absolutely - and you don't even actually need a reason. I could ban someone from my land just because I didn't like their hair color. As to the signs that she has put up, you could put up some large prims on that side, with some sort of nature or other decoration, to hide the signs. Just be sure that the other side is set transparent so that they cannot claim you are griefing them. -
There is also an option in Firestorm that will basically show the outline of your parcel, via a light yellowish box I think, up to extreme heights. This helps with the parcel boundaries when you are up high and accidentally edit your platform (that was originally positioned on the ground and then raised) and send it scooting off to one side such that it then creeps over your boundaries.

Would never happen because the inworld Forum Cartel group is not an official LL sponsored group.

(above bolding mine) What the hell makes you think that you having a faulty wire means the OP needs a new cable? Do you really think that ALL internet issues are the result of the same problem?

premium premium membership is it worth it?
LittleMe Jewell replied to Alexa Dallas's topic in General Discussion Forum
Since LL increased the tier allowance from 512 sqm to 1024 sqm, and added a few other misc. perks (priority entering events) I'd definitely say that the benefits got better over the last year. However, only you can determine if it is worth it or not. Yes, I am a premium member and have been for almost my entire time in SL. Additionally, I have numerous alt accounts that are also Premium. The part about only costing $1 US per year only applies if you save all of the L$300 stipend paid to you throughout the year and cash it out to pay towards your yearly Premium renewal fee. In truth, I think very few of us actually do that - at least not on our main accounts. I do save up most of the stipends from my alt accounts. -
Please help me understand land purchases
LittleMe Jewell replied to GiaMarlow's topic in General Discussion
There are Private Regions (full and homesteads) and Mainland. Primarily, if you own a private region then you pretty much control everything about it and you won't have any neighboring sims unless you add another region - or "maybe" you can request to be next to another existing private region if that owner okays it. On the mainland, the sims (regions) are next to each other forming continents and you have absolutely no control over what anyone does with their land that might be right next to yours. Thus you might end up with some really ugly builds right next door. Some folks don't mind this, but others do. Additionally, even if you own an entire sim/region on the mainland, you will not have all of the same land rights than a private region owner has. Also, as mentioned above, you must be Premium to buy Mainland, but you only need payment info to buy a Private Region. Side note - when private regions are rented out, they are often advertised as you 'buying' them. This is just terminology - while you might have a few more land rights than a Mainland owner, you are still technically renting the land because you are paying another SL resident rather than paying LL directly. -
It's available in my country. That's enough interesting for me to propose it as an alternative to Paypal If there are a very limited number of countries that it is available in, the change request has a much smaller chance of happening. LL is not likely to spend time on setting up another billing method if the chance of it gaining them anything doesn't outweigh the costs of the development. Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky.

I heard last names were coming back. When?
LittleMe Jewell replied to DjWhiteBoi's topic in General Discussion Forum
Vanity - You might want to add a link to Dakota's Reddit post as there is some additional info there, specifically that you will need to be Premium in order to get a last name: https://www.reddit.com/r/secondlife/comments/8owkku/dakota_linden_clarifying_how_last_names_will_work/?sort=new ETA - Her comment actually links to a post she made in a thread here on the forums: https://community.secondlife.com/forums/topic/423219-the-latest-on-last-names/?page=6&tab=comments#comment-1757717 -

Why Are Nicks Allowed on the Forums?
LittleMe Jewell replied to Prokofy Neva's topic in Forums Feedback
The person that never wants to touch a third party viewer because they are all about only the "official" one is pissed because Google - a third party tool - doesn't always find a profile. The OFFICIAL profile location is https://my.secondlife.com/NAME -- If you can't find it there, it is because the person doesn't want to be found and has set their security settings accordingly. Since this is SL and we have the right to our privacy, that is fine and dandy. If you absolutely MUST see a profile for someone in the forum, then get over your aversion to third party viewers and use one of those to see the Legacy Profile page - which will ALWAYS exist because EVERY forum account has a corresponding inworld account. -

I could only do that if I bought Halloween candy that I hated, otherwise it doesn't make it a full week past Halloween. -

LittleMe Jewell replied to DjWhiteBoi's topic in General Discussion Forum
Someday - in theory sometime this year. Though you will have to pay for it and the last comments from Dakota indicated you will have to be Premium to be able to get a last name. -
virtual reality headset
LittleMe Jewell replied to THEHERO Snowfall's topic in General Discussion Forum
I actually have some some time in VR, but really did have a hard time getting the speed of my movements such that I wasn't feeling the need to hurl my stomach contents everywhere. I could do roller coasters and all sort of similar tummy twisters as a kid, but found that my tolerance for such things diminished quite a bit as I aged. That may play into me having a harder time with VR without getting ill.- 39 replies
