  1. Getting very frustrated today. I got a gift card on my Rez day - L$500 - and finally decided to pop over to the store to spend it. This is a pretty large store for a creator that has been in SL since my early days here. I was so disappointed to find that 75-80% of the ladies clothing is "Standard Mesh Sizes" only. In the dress section - not gowns - the only dresses that come in a Maitreya (or almost any other mesh body) size are the super short stick-to-you-like-glue mini dresses. I found quite a few darling other dresses, but all in Standard sizing only. And I don't really need any gowns. *sigh* ?
  2. It is entirely possible that the RL meaning of exclusive that you are thinking of and that was mentioned above is a US or Western civilization thing. I do not know for sure, but I do know that a lot of words have different meanings around the world and SL creators come from all over. That could explain why some creators do keep an item exclusive to an event forever and some consider it only exclusive to the event while the event is happening. Interesting how different folks view things. IMO, the vast "majority" were NOT rude or insulting. Again, it could even be a cultural difference or it could be that you are just extra sensitive and feeling attacked simply because you didn't get tons of responses agreeing with you.
  3. Yep, but you are limited to 2 GB regardless of how much memory you actually have on the card - though it is still better than the 512 MB that the SL viewer limits you to.
  4. Interesting - wonder how that happened.
  5. Mine is fine on Chrome at home, but not on Chrome at work. Will now apparently need to figure out the differences in the two - likely some add-on.
  6. Основываясь на информации о экране, очевидно, что вы заселили свою тележку тем, как вы «думали», что делали это раньше. ОДНАКО, чтобы проверить, что ВЫ ДЕЙСТВИТЕЛЬНО, сделайте следующее: (Based on the screen info, it is obvious that you have repopulated your cart in how you "think" you did it before. HOWEVER, in order to verify what you REALLY DID, do the following:) Нажмите свое имя в верхней части экрана MP: (Click your name at the top of the MP screen:) Нажмите «История заказов» слева: (Click "Order History" on the left side:) Экран распечатает историю ACTUAL, показывающую, что имя человека действительно указано, чтобы быть одаренным: (Screen print the ACTUAL order history showing the person's name really was specified to be gifted:)
  7. Side note - if you are bored and need a few laughs, wander through a few more of JP Sears' videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwUizOU8pPWXdXNniXypQEQ
  8. Saw this today. Dedicating it to @Rhonda Huntress so she'll know to NEVER attempt such a thing.
  9. There's a security orb that does it. From the surrounding info in Lindal's post, I think she is talking about the Privacy settings that keep chat/sounds in your parcel and keep folks from seeing people in your parcel if they are outside of it -- but she wants that "parcel" to be an area , so that an apartment up in the sky could not see/hear stuff in the apartment below. A lot of us multi-task while in SL and often don't realize how much of a strain other things put on the computer also - especially browsers with lots of tabs open eating up memory. I wasn't paying attention one day and ended up with Chrome and Firefox both running with about 20 tabs each. The total memory being eaten up was astounding, not to mention the misc cpu cycles being used in the background.
  10. Tell them you need more specifics, since likely the company was the one that actually set the stuff up initially - at least they do around here. You can also go out to speedtest.net and see what your ping times are to various locations in the UK and here in the US. Pull up a map and get the name of different US spots, especially places in the state of California - then check ping times to those places. And if life really was all good until 1-2 weeks ago, ask your IP what might have changed in that time.
  11. I was perusing my Flickr notifications and happen to notice that the picture I took of Gus, the Hangout Bartender, has the most views and likes of all of my Flickr photos to date - a picture that I just took at our impromptu gathering last weekend. It has roughly 4600 views, which is almost 4 times as many views as the next one in the stats list. I find it somewhat comical - which I guess is better than feeling sad at how little activity my Flickr normally gets. So here is Gus, out Bartender:
  12. I didn't really notice the specifics of this when I quoted it and said talk to your ISP. Like the others have mentioned, if your internet is truly via satellite, then you really haven't got a chance with SL.
  13. They can check the full path probably easier than you can. Though you might have to push them a bit to get them to do it. Tell them you are attempting to play Second Life and seeing ping times around 10 seconds to the server in "San Francisco California" and that you've been told 1.5-2.5 (0.1-0.3) seconds is what most UK users normally experience. And I would periodically keep trying to get a second account created so that you can verify it really is not account related.
  14. I was surprised to see that one considering the trouble we get in for cussing or even masking our curse words - all in the name of being 'family friendly' apparently
  15. Internet connections can get messed up all the time. If you cannot create another account at this time (though that makes no sense either), your next bet is to talk directly to your ISP. The issue is your ping time. You can have them check the connection through to California - San Francisco area.
  16. Seems pretty clear to me right here: I'm guessing that part of the whole idea is to get people to actually log in every week. They published the rules at the beginning and IMO they should stick to it.
  17. Firelight and Truth each have at least 1 or 2 -- depending on just how long you want. Truth has quite a few more unrigged shorter versions - shoulder length and above. NYNE has a few that are shoulder length or just above. Otherwise, I think all the unrigged ones that I've encountered tend to be pretty short or updos or ponytails.
  18. Something within your ISP could have changed, so past performance is no guarantee of current
  19. Per the bolded part - unless he is also in SL, that cannot be compared. Most games are a static download that you install and the actual 'play' is not a constant stream of data between your end and the game server. SL is totally different and relies on constant communication. Click Ctrl+Shift+1 to activate the Statistics display. Watch the FPS, Packet Loss and Ping Sim values for a few minutes. Report back here what those display, on average.
  20. On the log in screen, it typically defaults to "My home" or 'My last location". Highlight that and type a specific region name - like Smith:
  21. Okay, now that I'm home, I can see the pictures you've linked. I'd suggest you tune down your graphics settings drastically to try and speed up rezzing. If you can get the settings such that things will rez better for you, then you can slowly start upping the various settings. Based on the picture you showed of your settings, I'd recommend the following to start with. If there are others around when you are having rezzing issues, then definitely drop Maximum complexity a lot -- I keep mine anywhere from 50,000 to 100,000 in most cases. Likewise, if others are around, drop the Max # on non-imposters. For now, turn off Advanced Lighting and Atmospheric shaders - just until we maybe figure out if those are adding to your problem. What do the settings on your 'Hardware Settings' tab look like? Also, maybe screen print your Renderings and Depth of Field tabs, just so we can verify nothing got accidentally changed that you wouldn't typically want.
  22. You can try clearing / deleting your texture cache so that it repopulates fresh. I don't remember if Firestorm has an option for clearing 'just' the texture cache - there is no need to clear your inventory cache. If you can't find such an option while poking around in the settings, you can manually delete the "texturecache" folder at the following location -- be sure Firestorm is NOT running when you do so: More info can be found here: http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_cache_clear After clearing/removing the cache, I'd log in to home and wait to see how the textures load before going off to other locations.
  23. There is no way that anyone can tell "when" you unfriended them. They do not get any sort of message, so there would not be any history of said action in any log. Thus, no clue what she is even attempting to claim there. Even when you do unfriend someone, the calling card does not automatically go into the trash. You have to actually delete it yourself and your actions would have no impact whatsoever on the calling card in their inventory. There have been oddities in the Friends list in the past, but if she still shows on your friends list then you are still on hers - it is a two-way street always. However, what could happen is that you simply no longer show as 'online' to her and she thinks that is an issue. The 'show online' thing can be because of your settings and it can also be because of SL oddities in the Friends list -- happens very frequently. Side note - you might want to mention to her that letting someone else log in to her account is against the TOS, so she might want to be careful there.
