  1. Revealing info or wearing something and so on - you say did not happen. If we assume that you didn't overlook something there is a simple question: who knows your location? One of them leaked info or is using an alt and made a big mistake by showing to have info that they can't have. And if you say you know someone. No, that's not the case. You know nothing about anybody - you know only what they told you. Another possibility is coincidence. If I enter a sim I see who is on that sim. Probability low but not zero. To prevent any visitor that isn't invited you'll need so use parcel settings and/or a scripted device that removes everybody that is not on the whitelist. Preferably 0 warning time. You'll need that for a skybox.
  2. And all SL viewers are obsolete too. Nobody knows if there will be a new viewer and the x64-emulation won't make anyone happy I assume. However, even as a non Apple user I like that there is something different on the market.
  3. You want to wear a layer for the body. Skin, tatoo, etc. A script can't do that, you need to do that manually or make an outfit. A script can send a texture to a mesh body, but you don't have the info to do that and it's not BOM then. Creator kits for mesh bodies deliver a (nomod) script for that purpose and can apply a tatoo to an extra BOM layer for the body. RLV can probably apply tatoo layers but I don't need and don't use RLV so you need to get info from someone else about that.
  4. I classify threads and people in my mind like cool, idiot, spam, nonsense and so on. And that stays in my mind for obvious reasons. Any spam definitions by other people are completely irrelevant. 😁 I know exactly what I continue to read and what not. Maybe 100 years later I start to forget things and could use some classification help by the forum software. Until then that's not needed. 😎
  5. I never had a use for it and now after reading this thread I still have no use for it. 😁
  6. Well - it's SL - there is a fair amount of idiots around - so yes - quite normal. 😁 If you sit on ground nothing will move you around. You'll behave like a solid block of concrete. If griefing was not allowed in that sandbox then you can AR any offender. Don't expect that anything will happen instantly though.
  7. Many years ago I kicked flash off my system. (there was no need to host that garbage) The only effect is that of course the browser (except Edge) and the SL browser can't play flash videos. From my point of view there was zero loss.
  8. It's incredible boring to shoot zombies while flying. No danger no thrill. *yawns* The OP has set up a game. If you cheat by just plain cheating or by roleplaying is the same - it's just cheating. You have to fly? Bye!
  9. I have zero understandment for experience concerns. There is NOTHING that can be done to you and NOTHING to your avatar and it's easy to leave. If one really confuses themselves with an avatar one shouldn't go to zombie sims anyways. Besides of that - nobody is forced to accept. Bye bye and problem solved. For the detector. Zombies and shooting and avatars cause lag. I could imagine it's difficult to fine tune a detector. What about jumping and jumping down? Height check could be used, but need to consider high builds. Make snapshots of an avatar position and get average speed (distance/time) and see if it's too high. With experiences there is no need to kick out avatars but it's possible to teleport them back to start position.
  10. Flying, walls, closed doors, scripts - with limits you just express your wishes - you don't enforce anything.
  11. I just made an object of 100 prims with 1 listening script in each prim. I don't see any effect when i rez one. I rezzed a few left and right while i was walking. Avatar was put back a abit on every rez. (rubberband effect) So the sim was busy for less than 0.1 sec on each rez. I still see no problem to rez 100 prims with 100 scripts. Since I can only link 256 prims I made a 100 prim object with 1000 listening scripts. Rezzing that while walking gives a rubberband effect of over 10m and takes a few seconds. So that is sim shattering. 😁
  12. What I did is: I placed 100 objects with 10 listening scripts each - thats 1000 listeners and 1000 scripts, same channel. Then I placed a sender that sent 1000 messages of about 40 character length. The listeners did a little processing and counting. So thats 1 million events. Takes about a minute since one listener received about 15 messages per second while the sender cound sent 1000 messages in maybe 5 seconds. (The sim buffers the messages so none got lost) Tried that in different numbers up to 4000 listeners. 4000 is a bit too much. It takes 1-2 minutes until all processing queues got worked off. However. Every listening script causes a base load and I would not recomment to waste resources by running 1000 listeners all the time. Except it's your sim and you have no tenants. Short sim shattering actions will most probably not break anything. (Never encountered trouble when testing)
  13. 1 rez a copy of your object and make attachment invisible 2 all links store position/rotation 3 make the physical explosion thing 4 each part moves and rotates back into stored position (KFM) but that will look different than the explosion - if the explosion uses physics. 5 each part deletes itself and the attachment becomes visible Don't move while this happens so the attachment stays in place. (Stand still animation required) 2500 or more listens - triggered at the same time will shatter script execution a bit. 100 listens are nothing. I tested that on an estate sim. Mainland sims may be weaker. 100 physical objects colliding will cause a small peak in computing time. So if we have one of this objects and they are not triggered 24/7 it's no resource problem. You need 50 LI free to rez such an object. (for convex prims)
  14. Just open your account settings - go to change email and click the verify link. Then you can ignore all previous emails. Something you can do with everything that wants something from you. Always go to the original page and trigger the process yourself.
  15. The "attach" and "on_rez" events are triggered at login for attachments.
  16. Some things worth to comment but it should work. I don't think it's a scripting problem though. Switch on AttachedSound in your viewer. Then you can hear sound of things that are attached to avatars.
  17. Just make your own group (and join with an alt) and write whatever you want.
  18. I replaced the sun: and the moon with a globular star cluster: I think eep has potential
  19. Hmmm, an over reaction. I'm surprised ppl believe everything that is just in chat. Next over reaction is calling to the pitchforks (flagging). Want to flag every configuable device too or every chat relay? Well on a place with a chat relay everything I type into the chat appears green. I don't even need a script. I have seen that type of chat b4, there are different jokes. There are different colours for avatars, objects and system messages, maybe check that out too. Guess I have a different view because my 1st reaction is always to believe nothing. 😎
  20. I did think about that too but a single 1024 texture on an avatar with materials (3x1024) is equal to 24 character page textures. So an average avatar with 10 textures (thats pretty few) equals 240 texture pages. So I came to the conclusion that the texture memory of such a display is nothing to worry about. It's practiclly nothing compared to the avatars that you need to trigger the usage of that texture pages.
  21. It is NOT possible to reference a function or variable in another script. You can only communicate between scripts by chat or link message or http or email or you change something that another script can poll.
  22. What are facelights? They used to be an environment pollution. 😎 In Firestorm you can switch them off in the developer/rendering menu and in phototools/light The debug setting for all viewers is: RenderAttachedLights=FALSE It switches off everybodys facelights (yours too of course) 😁
  23. You need a script that detects avatars appearing at your raffle board. Since TP is not possible it must be logins. Simply kick out or TP home them.
  24. Places for the "man in the middle" are only your computer or router and it would require quite some efforts. Way too much efforts to only deal with a script. The viewer is a good candidate. It could have lost your script due to a bug and replace it with something more or less funny. The sim server could have a hickup or something between viewer and asset server went wrong. Fact is the script got replaced. B4 I started to script always external - there were script incidents from time to time, just less dramatic, like script was not saved or vanished from editor.
  25. I don't see a bug here, except in the script. LSL never guanrantees that something happens in a specific order or timeframe - so you need to script in a way that timing and order doesn't matter. You always need to get the listen to work before you start any type of communication. If you rez something the rezzed object is ready when it sent a message that tells it is ready. You can get away by adding intentional or unintentional delays but that fragile construct will crash on heavy lag or the absense of lag or whenever LL changes something or if you change something. Everybody had their "aha" moments in scripting but you get used to not make expectatione but get certainty.
