  1. It seems to me, that in general LL does not usually give a specific date that something will happen (except perhaps in the server updates where they post a day or so before with a link to the update notes). The reason I suggest people follow Patch's Update thread is so that when he does update it, they can receive notification of the update in their email rather than having to check the forums all the time, if they're not a forum-type person. I actually like that he only adds to the thread when there is something significant to announce. I agree it can be frustrating for those just hearing about the houses, those waiting to get a house, and those who participate in the forums all the time. The best updates we have right now, I think, are the comments people post in the various threads in this section about what they are seeing on the SSP regions* (numbers of green dots, etc., indicating work by the Moles or other LL staff) and - still to happen - when the new regions first appear on the map in their Bellisseria position. When we finally see the new regions in place, I think it will be really, really close to release time. * the SSP regions are the initial 'work area' for the regions for the new continent, and can be found on the map inworld by searching for SSP on the map
  2. The bug tracker item linked to above was marked resolved in 2011. It's possible that another issue has occurred with the functionality more recently. (It is working fine by the way, right now, in-world with the legacy style profiles using the Firestorm viewer.)
  3. Bay City land prices seem to be their own little market, and parcels do get bought and sold there for much higher L/m2 amounts than just about anyplace else on mainland (with the exception perhaps of Horizons). Parcels in the L$50 K - L$60 K range in Bay City are usually on the low end of the asking price scale, from what I've seen over the last several years.
  4. Sausalito, CA has a very eclectic houseboat community, most of which look like some type of house structure that happens to be on a barge base so it floats. Not many (if any) look like the typical houseboat that one would rent for houseboating on a lake.
  5. I've seen similar type weirdness recently near a multi-region intersection on another mainland continent also, the past several weeks.
  6. You can't have a discussion if no one responds. I read, or at least skim, through most posts under topics that interest me. One could, however, start a suggestion thread under the topic that their suggestion fits under. Then people that are interested in the topic would be likely to see and discuss it. At some point, if it looks like there are suggestions that many are in favor of, someone would still need to add it them to the JIRA as feature requests, so that they would be noticed and reviewed by the appropriate LL staff.
  7. In addition to their blog, they also had a full region of preview homes at the Home and Garden Expo, where you could walk around and in all the new homes. I think the preview may have been in the destination guide at that time. Many saw the new homes there and began choosing their favorite styles and discussing how they would decorate it.
  8. I don't think we need a special "suggestion group" title, if you're referring to forum headings. People make suggestions all the time in various threads here already.
  9. If they do, I hope it's optional as to whether one has the link display or not display.
  10. While empty house may not contribute to community building, I also think that they do not detract from community building. If I was to have a house and didn't want to decorate it, I would close all the curtains on the windows, put curtains across the glass doors, and would not expect people to be camming in and making judgements. I think there are other things occurring that may be detracting from community building, which are more serious issues than whether someone leaves their house empty. Compared to the number of home parcels, the number of people in the two main Bellisseria groups is still fairly low. While there is a vocal group discussing community, I don't know that everyone with a home on Bellisseria is as concerned about that. In terms of there being additional new options to rezz a garden instead of a house, I agree with @LittleMe Jewell that such an option could lead to the same garden appearing on multiple parcels on a block, which would start to make the area look "cookie cutter made". At least with the houses, there are different styles, different color options, and usually the greenery and fencing between yards is varied. Mostly though, I would rather that the Moles continue working on providing more houses, and In more themes, than on creating optional "gardens" to be used in place of houses.
  11. As far as I understand, "auto-hide" is generally specific to a particular mesh body because it is toggling alpha layers on the particular mesh body (instead of you having to turn the alpha layers on in the body's HUD. So it's different than an alpha layer (which only works on system bodies, but not on mesh bodies).
  12. Didn't realize this was a duplicate of post in another section, where a lot of answers have already been posted.
  13. I hardly ever do anything with pictures before posting them. I don't have PS, though I do have Gimp, and I've figured out how to crop and how to change picture formats, but trying anything more than that frustrates me to no end (and even those I only do when I feel it's absolutely necessary). I think I have an allergy to photo-imaging software. Mainly I take pictures in-world more for myself as a scrapbook of my adventures in SL, and if I really like one that I take, I might post it here or in the 'what are you doing today' thread, depending on which one I feel is most appropriate for the contents of the picture. I do appreciate all the wonderful pictures others post, and even read through most of the tips and tricks for getting/creating better pictures that get posted here, but a lot of it goes in one ear and out the other.
  14. If it didn't automatically allow you to change the settings after you turned 18, you will need to submit a support ticket for it.
  15. This is a resident-to-resident help area, so there isn't anything anyone here would be able to do to change whether your friend has option to the delete account option or not. If it's just 3 days, I would suggest your friend wait out the 3 days and then go in and delete their account. ETA - Glad that worked!
  16. Sherridon, as someone who commonly reads through the mainland rentals section, I did find your copying of style and some key phrasing from another rental agency's advertising to be a little off-putting and tacky. I would suggest experimenting around and finding your own unique look for your ads.
  17. It's the icon that looks like a speech bubble with a line through it.
  18. I think DFS is a farming/crafting system in-world (Digital Farm System)
  19. I should actually try one of these sometime, and see if I'm off scale or not. Hopefully if I am, it's just a little bit where I could fudge and say close enough I try not to get too obsessed with shapes but then I'll spend a whole evening doing nothing except messing with the shape (and usually staying with what I started the evening out with).
  20. Eating all of those would require sliding at least some of the body sliders all the way to the right...
  21. What struck me about the chart you posted was seeing the high heels on the woman model. The hair style also suggests some bygone era, but it just struck me as odd given the subject of body proportions, as she doesn't seem to be wearing anything else - just the high heels (or is that the heel size more commonly referred to as 'pumps'? in my mind, anything with a heel is high heels).
