  1. What I read was "you can gift and tip Sansar Dollars without any additional charges."
  2. My problem is that if they show up as the next unread topic, I end up reading the latest posts because they are there on the screen, and then I realize that all I've done all morning is read people complaining about stuff. This is one of the times that I'd really like the ability to put specific threads on "ignore".
  3. To add on, another facet of the "basic users spend lindens, often more than the value of a premium membership" is that most of that spending goes to other residents and not to Linden Lab directly. The one exception would be basic members who own full regions and homesteads - they would be the only basic members paying more than the cost of a premium membership directly to Linden Lab. Yes, basic members spending lindens contributes to the economy greatly, and some percentage of what they spend may indirectly end up back with Linden Lab, but that's not any different than spending in-world done by premium members. I see the distinction not so much as the amount that is being spent, but to whom that amount is being paid.
  4. The cost of buying linden dollars remains $1.49. The $3.00 amount in the announcement was in regards to the cost of cashing out lindens (to your USD balance).
  5. The context for the title was people asking a question, getting it solved within the 24 hours that they can still edit their initial post, and then going in and removing (deleting) the contents of the question post. If you read the first post in this thread, it is very clear what the context is, and why the request to not delete questions you've solved was being made.
  6. It might just be that this is an issue that the people who commonly answer questions in this area have not come across before. If you are able to see the hangul in the Firestorm viewer, but not the LL viewer, then perhaps it is a glitch in the LL viewer, and you should file a support ticket about it. You might also want to check in areas or groups in-world where you know there are other people using hangul to see if they have this issue and if so, were they able to resolve it. You might also want to check in the International part of the forums to see if there is a sub-forum there that would be appropriate for asking about this.
  7. I also expect that at the time the increase takes effect, there will be an increase in the forums of new-to-the-forum people asking why they hadn't been notified of it, and how come they didn't hear about the period for 'locking in the current rate for another period' until it was too late to do that. So I imagine that this topic will remain as an active discussion topic for a while.
  8. While I'm not overjoyed with the changes, I'm also not angry or disappointed about them. I've only been here 5 years (and premium since the day after I joined) and this is the first increase in the cost of premium membership during that time. That's not bad considering the increases that have occurred with other services during the last 5 years. The premium membership is still less expensive than Amazon Prime (which I dropped after the first year because I felt I did not use it enough to justify the expense) and I think the new monthly premium cost is not any more expensive than my family's Netflix subscription after their recent price increase. It also seems like most services that increase their subscription cost do so without any tangible increased benefits. (The household entertainment expense I would like to reduce or get rid of is our monthly cable expense - to have all the premium channels my husband insists on costs more each month than an annual SL premium membership even at the new rates.) So, for myself, I feel the new membership costs are still in the ball-park for subscription based entertainment. For myself, I find the value for the premium membership in the tier allowance (the 1024 free tier on mainland or the linden home) and in the weekly stipend. Although I am currently renting a parcel on a little estate region, I also have (and almost always have had) both a mainland parcel and a LH. There are some months where it's harder for me to arrange things to allow for buying L$'s, so I find peace of mind knowing that if nothing else, I could retreat back to my mainland parcel or my LH if necessary. I recently took 2 alts premium so that the 3 memberships cover 1 LH plus 2252 sqm mainland without any additional costs each month. If I dropped the 2 alts, it would cost me $13.00 month for the mainland tier, plus I would lose the extra L$600 a week combined stipend - and I would not be able to make that up with additional L$ purchases each month, so for me I think keeping all 3 of my accounts as premium will make the best sense even with the new rates. I'm neutral about the increase in groups. I've been getting rid of some groups recently as it is, and really thinking about the ones I have remaining. I'm not a huge shopper, so I've been more critical of the shopping groups I belong to that are taking up slots. I recently got rid of several groups from active stores where there had been nothing in notices from the store for several months and rarely any group chat. There are a few that I still have that I should probably look into switching over to subscriptions rather than group membership. The increase to the number of kept offline IM's makes doing that a little more feasible.
  9. If you're purchasing mainland, you can do/put whatever on it - you can even do a ground house and a skybox (providing you have the LI available) . I've taken Lindal's class before. I highly recommend it.
  10. I had almost forgotten about Ciampi. It's been a couple of years since I was last out there taking pictures.
  11. One thing that is different from how the existing Linden Homes work is that instead of picking a specific house type within a specific theme, you just pick the theme and then you can rez any of the types within that theme on the parcel (for example, any of the 4 Traditional types, or at the houseboat parcels any of the 4 houseboat types). There will be additional themes coming from what I understand, so it will be interesting to see what those turn out to be.
  12. Chic beat me to it. I was going to ask what was the problem with the existing categories and sub-categories? When I go to someone's store, I use the category list to drill down to just the section that I'm interested in. It's never been a problem for me if they sell clothes and furnishings - I just go to the applicable sub-categories to filter the contents to what I'm interested in.
  13. My RL house is built on adobe type soil that contracts and expands based on the season and how much water it gets. So we have doors that line up perfectly in the frame part of the year and don't other parts of the year, none of the floors are completely flat, putting a free-standing floor lamp in the living room highlights the 'shift' with some of the walls or the floor, and so on.
  14. I was speaking in generalities. It's some of the comments I've seen in some of the picture threads (like "I still have 5 LI left, so ...") that make me wince. It will be interesting to find out what the cause of the OP's return of items from partner is - whether it is related to some kind of permissions glitch, or related to some type of LI issue. There's a lot of nuances that I don't think we've had to really worry about it other areas where we've lived that haven't had the concentration of people, vehicles, etc., that exists in the new linden home areas.
  15. When I hear of people only having a few LI left, it makes me wince. I get nervous when I only have 40 or 50 left available. It's tempting to add so much decor to use everything up, especially with the yard or the houseboat decks in addition to the interior. I found decorating in the new LH's much more difficult than in the old homes. It's wise I think, to have some available for unexpected needs.
  16. If something is going to give an item for you to wear, and it is going to use LI as part of its process, I think that the creator should include that in the description on the MP, and in an info NC with the product. I know I've bought furnishings before that have rezzed items as part of a scene, and they've included info about how much LI to be sure to have available to use that feature. I like getting that kind of 'heads up' so I know what to expect when using the product.
  17. I wonder if they've changed up the times between being abandoned and becoming available again so that people don't take advantage of abandoning a house and having a friend notified and poised to swoop it up immediately. It seems that having more random times for becoming available tries to keep it more equitable for all the refreshers.
  18. There's a discussion I was reading in one of posts in the section of the forums yesterday, that the houseboats may be slightly off-kilter by fractions of a percent, so some of the homes may be also, which may aggravate getting add-ons easily lined up perfectly.
  19. I wasn't aware that there was a new iPhone app after MetaVerse (I think that was the name) disappeared from the app store several years ago. It sounds like it might be worth a try for someone who is just interested in reading IM's or group notices and chatting with friends. I'm not sure that I'd want to be going around to other LM's besides my home on a text only app, but I suppose that there might be some reason people would want to do that.
  20. Perhaps you need a little break. Sometimes it takes time away from something in order for us to realize what we're missing, and that can then lead to inspiration. Personally, I get most of my inspirations when I'm out walking around outside, not really thinking about anything in particular, and then in pops some idea or possibility.
  21. I have preferences set to show both display name and legacy name - which is helpful when you can't read a display name because of fonts, or if you have a friend who often changes their display name.
