Hypothetically, what do you think would happen if all our inventories were suddenly made visible?

Would you be okay with everyone being able to see what was in your inventory right at this moment?

What would be the first thing you'd do?

Oh Hell yeah. Some people would be jealous because it's so organized and would probably want me to help them organise theirs. So what if there's a little alien plant porn in there.  😄

No, I wouldn't be OK with it but from a privacy point of view not because I am ashamed of anything in there or that would make me pause to show others if I should choose to show them my inventory at all.  There isn't a lot of context around why this would happen and I would expect to see what justification could possibly be given as to why it was necessary.  I wouldn't do anything with my inventory at all if it did happen but if I wasn't satisfied with the justification as to the change, and to be blunt I cannot see what justification could possibly be given that would satisfy me as to the need to do so, I may well decide take action and close my account.

To me privacy isn't something that's important to a person if they have something, real or perceived, to hide, it's important to have by default unless there is a compelling justification to have it removed.

327k items in folders named sorting one, two, three and so containing subfolders named sorting one B, c, d and so on those folders have folders named sorting bb, CC, DD (you get the idea I think lol)? I only stuffed everything in small portions in folders and subsubsubfolders totally unorganized for anyone but me who knows what to search for XD many people would just cry I guess 😆

On further consideration, I think the MP, and probably the entire SL economy, would benefit immensely from something like this.

Imagine, so many people flushing so much of their inventory during the initial freakout, then deciding what the hey, and not to care, and then going and buying stuff to replace it all.

I think it would be one or more blogs out of SL: "You can't believe what's in their inventory". Some people would have it as their hobby to comb through even the most big and unorganized inventories, to find something to post about.

Nice idea, distract people from what's happening around them, because they're too busy looking at each other! "When did that ad farm get there? Why does my house disappear when I'm not home?"

At the rate I've been culling stuff from mine, there won't be much to see. Most of my regrettable purchases have already been consigned to the Bitbucket of Eternity, and the remainder won't be far behind. (I should add that 'regrettable' in this case doesn't mean embarassing, more a mix of poor impulse control and insufficient demo-testing.)

I'd post a thread on here asking you all to look through mine and see if you can find (list of items I know I have, or at least had, but now can't find in the disorganised HEAP that is my inventory)

Will you offer a "Finder's Fee"?

Also:

This feature would make it hard for people to hide their "Transfer-rights" gifts purchased early for others (unless they are put in a separate box).

"I'm all up in your Inventory, looking for my Christmas presents."
