  1. Hmmm. I wonder if the Deluxe body is still sold for 500L. Anyway, it is too late. It is all Maitreya and Slink for me now. The one male with TMP Deluxe that I have could be interesting to try on again. It is a damned fine body. The problem now would be matching head and body skin. It is so limiting that TMP isn't using Omega.
  2. Well then! You didn't have an avatar, and since English isn't my #1 language, I read your name as male. Not the first time I have done that. Something with my native language and names in English, I assume. I second the suggestion of DeeTaleZ, I use that skin myself, with body freckles.
  3. You are correct, it can be the SIM and not you. But if your girlfriend did not render you, she could have a weaker computer than you - I am not sure if "weak" is the correct word. Low performance computer perhaps? I had an old computer that I tried to play SL on. It didn't work well. I had only 4 GB and upgrading to 16 GB was like a "new" computer. Plus installing a SSD. I had big ideas about buying more expensive things, but real life kicked away those plans. Still, this budget upgrade helps me a lot. I can run Firestorm smoothly. I am lucky, that I have cable. The System Requirements for SL is really bogus. They recommend 4 GB, if she has it, she should double it. I was surprised that more memory was so affordable. Has she tried to click on your avatar and then "Always render fully" from the menu? This should force her system to render you. In laggy situatons, both you and her should use a short drawing distance like 32 m or 64 m, and lower the graphic quality to medium, not high or ultra. You and her can also reduce the number of non-impostor avatars . The closest avatars to you will then be rendered correct, but not the avatars in a distance. I am not sure where you find it in the Default Second Life viewer. I only use Firestorm. But the tips and tricks for Firestorm is working on other viewers as well, but I am not sure here you find them. https://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_very_laggy
  4. I have heard, that when you first download Second Life, the number for Avatar Render Complexity is set based upon how much your computer can handle. It is the Second Life installer that set this number for you. The installer "read" your system. Is it correct, Skell? That the complexity number is set for you when you download Second Life?
  5. When you wear or take off things from your avatar, look in the upper right corner. The message of your avatar complexity is shown there, but only some seconds. This is for the default SL viewer. Or at least it was, I have not used the default SL viewer in a long time.
  6. I usually help out with skin suggestions, but here I must pass. I had a hard time finding even a female skin with the freckles painted on, not added as a tattoo. I had the same reason, not wanting to use up a layer or have alpha sorting problems. Your Obi-Wan is probably @Skell Dagger.
  7. @Sylvannas Zulamanposted before I was done writing - a great post with pictures.
  8. The solid colored avatars is because they are too high in complexity to load for your graphics. It is not the avatars computer or graphics - they want to use all the nice stuff on their avatar they have bought, and does not care if others do not see them. It is a bit of superiority I assume - they think it is your problem if you can't see them. It is not you wearing too high complexity if they can see you , and you not see them. And they are right in a way, they are not responsible for others view of the game, it is a bit selfish, though. Many has the view that avatars should lower their complexity so all can render them, as a community solidarity, but that will never be enforced by Linden Lab. You can go to Preferences > Graphics > Maximum Avatar Complexity and move the slider up to a higher number. This will probably make you lag more. If you move the Maximum Avatar Complexity up and your performance get bad, then you can't do much other things with it than improve your computer, or just tolerate the solid colored avatars. I will suggest that you let the high number avatars be. Unless they are your friends and you want to render them fully and not the other high number avatars. You can click on your friend and choose "always render fully" and this will make them stay rendered for this session. I think you must do it again when you log off and in again, but it is not so much work. The small number in the upper right corner of your screen when you change something on your avatar, show your own Maximum Avatar Complexity. If it is under 80 000, you are rendered correctly for most of SL. Some will try to use SL on a really bad computer, and they will always have problems rendering you even if you go really low. I hope you get at least some idea about question 2 and 3. I think the answer to 1 is how hard it is to render or draw an avatar. The higher number, the more it demands of computers, their memory, graphic card and even connection. Second Life has user-created content, and creators can make really bad or really good content. Easy to render or hard to render. It is not so much to do about it, it is LL that want it this way, let creativity flourish and all that. You can demo things and see how high the numbers go up. Use demos, I have seen a dress make my complexity jump high, but older jewelry and hair can be the worst. At least you can demo hair. Sorry if I am not making any sense, English isn't my first language and I am tired after a long week. I hope others can explain it better.
  9. And this is what you are looking for the omega relay marked in red, the body to the right. First, wear your Jake body, unpack the Omega relay and add it. It shows on the screen as a "Omega system installer for Belleza". Click it and watch the text in local chat tell you it's installed. You can detach it now. This below is an old image I used to illustrate how to apply a tattoo to the body, you will see the one arrow pointing to the tattoo shirt layer, that is green and activated. Then I show how to apply a grey tanktop. You have bought a skin, so there is no need to use the tattoo or clothes layer. The skin goes on under these.
  10. I have not bought many of them. I have been really unhappy with them. It is a lot of things, but from a pack, I only use the eyebrows - as in my profile pic - and a set of lipgloss. Really not worth 1500 L, even if it has several makeups and skins. I don't remember the other packs, I think it was even worse. Nothing I am using from them. At lest with a gacha I can get rid of the things, or send it to alts. And same with the boxes with buildings. The buildings, I would not buy them at all, regardless price. They are just not right for me. The things I have liked has been small furniture pieces, that would cost 200-300 L or so.
  11. I have the opposite experience. I usually inspect what others are wearing and open creator profile, and find working locations. Or I inspect furniture or landscaping. Yes I find profiles that look abandoned, maybe the creator has left SL. I would say that the majority of items I inspect is taking me straight to a store. 9/10 times or 8/10.
  12. I don't think creators would use gachas if they didn't earn more money from then than selling one item no transfer. I think there are big players that buy up a lot of gacha when it's new and send it out on the Marketplace directly. The third party is earning money, but so is the creator. Many third party sellers sell cheap. They would not play the gacha machine 20, 30 times if they couldn't get rid of the items. I think. So they calculate the loss of customers that would buy it once, against others that will pull a lot of times. I prefer the MP too, unless it is a lot of the common prices that I like. I can then play the gacha and send one or two commons to my alts. I like wearable things in a gacha, so I can send them between me and my alts. Hah, I can even make a copy of my head, apply a skin on it and then pass the applier to an alt, and still have the skin for myself. And also bloggers that use the gacha items once for their pictures and then sell it. There is no need for copy items if you just set it up for a blogpost. Many people judge gachas from what use they have for them, not what use others have for gachas. It also think it is annoying when there are just one really tempting item in the gacha and I dislike the commons. Then I wish I could buy only it directly. But so is human nature. I want everything the way I want it.
  13. As other said... shopping. If you want to use your inventory items, you have no problems. I, on the other hand, have tried to edit newer thing to fit the old body and I found it was really not worth my time. Seraphimsl.com has links to new shopping events and you can try to go there and see if something is interesting. If you find out that it's not better than your legacy inventory, use your avatar as it is and be happy. There are so many more demos now. Before, when you bought system layer clothes, you looked at the vendor and bought it. Use the option you have now, and demo, demo, demo mesh clothes, mesh shoes, mesh feet, mesh bodies and heads. Demo before you buy is the thing now. Does most use mesh now? I would say yes, at least where I go. Even new starter avatars are meshed out in clothing and hair. A mesh body in not important unless you will show a lot of skin. It can be hard to buy new bathing suits and lingerie. And small dresses like sundresses with straps. You can always use your pre mesh clothes. I will not say it looks bad. The below is all system and prims. But I can not go and buy a new bikini on system layers easy. I will have to do with what I have. And as others have said, new bones gives us better hand poses, can move each finger individually. And new expressions. This pose hands-on-the pool ladder is not photoshopped in. Edited to add: You can open a Marketplace store and sell your inventory that is transfer.
  14. If you use the correct TMP neck the size should fit. Wear your TMP stylemode hud, go to modify - retrofit and see if it helps. This should give you a neck fit, but finding a skin that works with the TMP body and Catwa head is hard. 7 Deadly Skins maybe? TMP is not wasted as long as it works, but you will soon run into problems when you try to make old tech (TMP) match new tech (Catwa). Slink male has the most lean body, and Signature Geralt isn't so buff either. Skell Dagger reviews both: http://www.virtualbloke.com/archives/category/mesh-body-reviews The downside: Both these bodies have less support that Belleza Jake. It can change, of course, if people buy more Geralt and demand more clothes for him, there will be more made. Slink was one of the first mesh bodies and some creators stopped to make content for it.
  15. Unless flexi hair, jewelry and dresses is involved, that can give an ARC that goes skyhigh, am I right? I have tried to wear my pre-mesh Zaara jewelry, and other legacy jewelry, including Donna Flora, and in my experience, the Avatar Rendering Cost for prims is higher than modern mesh. (Edit) Plus the 1 script pr prim. Are we really tricked when ARC rises 100 000 when putting on one single attachment?
  16. So each cut is adding to the cost? I see. Still, with the modern mesh weighted so well against bodies (at least female bodies), I think general alpha layers can be added to fix most issues. In my experience, the times I had to use alpha cuts with the existing HUD, it is mainly around the waist, the butt and the legs. It is probably because the designer want a thinner waist or shape the butt and legs a bit different from the mesh body. Thin straps over the shoulders and hips (like a bikini) can not use cuts anyway. Deep cut cleavages has to fit well and not hide more than the nipples, because looking in from the side or top down will show the "gaps" created by alpha cuts. Alpha layers for covering big areas like breasts down to hips, or pants, etc, should be pretty straightforward to make, or use existing.
  17. I stand corrected. It was an oversight by me. Thank you for clearing it up.
  18. If we discuss what I think we discuss, all the mesh clothes made before mesh bodies, are still on the Marketplace with the alpha layers. Getting the free demos will give you the free alpha layer. They are not marked "demo". I don't know how much an issue this will be. Many alpha cuts are rather similar, and it is an open question: How much of my old inventory will I use? How much work is it to get alpha layers for my favorites, do I need alpha layers for the minidress from 2012? Am I still using mesh clothes from the start of the mesh era? Is using the alpha cut HUD for a mesh body so high cost to render?
  19. I would like to work on the inventory without downloading and installing Second Life on 'that' computer. I often have free time, but not with my personal computer. I am not familiar with the "cloud" and how it works. I wonder if it can help me with that. As an example, I picked up 20 gifts/15 L each for a Valentine hunt yesterday. I haven't had time to sort them. It would be so nice if I could make a folder in the inventory and move them there, to clean up when I am not home (Not home in RL, but with access to another computer). Also moving notecard, landmarks and unpacker scripts to the trash. Such small things would help on maintenance for all my avatars. I am now logging in my other female avatars to get the Valentine hunt since it's ending today. If I had only one avatar, I could do the cleanup in the inventory for her, but.... LL does earn money on me having more than one. All my avatars are mesh from top to toe and I spend money on them, they aren't freebie hoarders.
  20. Linden Lab should really name the photographers they use out of plain old courtesy. I bet the photo is on Flickr or in a blog with the credits.
  21. I don't know what look she is aiming for. I do think that Itgirls is very good for the glowing medium to tan skin. Their bodies are good too. You have the body with curves that's called Queen, and the thinner one that is best for smaller breasts. Itgirls have some wicked well african ethnic faces in my opinion https://www.flickr.com/photos/havannie/ The Itgirls brand have a lot of faces, but make sure the face tone fits with the body. Is she does not want to be brunette, but blonde, I like Pink Fuel. They have some of the most sugary cute faces with porcelain skin. They have lots of body options too. If she want to mix cute face with a ripped torso, this brand is it. https://www.flickr.com/photos/mochimilena/with/28546313478/ <----- Pointing to my avatar. If she likes pale and red hair, DeeTaleZ is the drink for me. I think they do really nice pale tones and freckles. Very nice brows. Main reason I bought it, is that we only have three layers - tattoo, underwear and clothes. Yes, we are promised a better system, but when. DeeTaleZ offer body skin appliers already done with freckles and red pubes. (TMI?) Anyway, some sell freckles applier and pubes appliers, but then I would have used up my layers. https://www.flickr.com/photos/deetalez/ I am saying this because I have personal experience with them, and don't know how good the other brand are with the body appliers. Brands like L'etre and Not Found, I have seen their faces and they do a good job. But I don't know their body appliers. As a minimum, body appliers should include both natural cleavage and push-up, plus shaved and natural. https://www.flickr.com/photos/juliiocoast/with/39591687214/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/130578934@N04/
  22. One of the many reasons modify hair is so great, even if some creators claim it is useless for rigged hair. For the OP, I see that her jacket collar look like it's fluffy fur. I wonder if alpha masking would make it look less like hair and more like sheep wool. Sad that this alpha clashing is a persistent problem. The New Shiny BOM that we was promised that we should get last year... will solve most problems in the face/head because makeup and hairbases can be worn on a tattoo layer and be blended without alpha. Attached Objects will still have it, sigh.
  23. It's a bit sad when the OP don't come back. Oh well. Maybe Then got help in other places. Had been nice to come back to say problem solved.
  24. @KrickettArcheris a female name?
  25. That is a really nice modern house. I see you use the Anna Er0tica pier in front of it. But where is the house from, if I may ask?
