  1. I don't like the forced Bento face animations either, the club I am going to, is using more and more of these, they force the face into a silly Joker grin. The facial HUDs made for each head is better, much better. I hate that it is no way to avoid this, other than not using club dances. And the clubs have so many more dances than me, it's annoying to not use them.
  2. Mesh beta import was still 6 months in the future. System layers and sculpts could create nice 3 D looks.
  3. Include an Animation Override in all avatars, since your latest batch with the riding fantasy avatars. Don't make it a "some have it, some not" thing. Change attachment point from the "Center 2" to the screen. People have no idea why they walk different when they detach the AO by accident. With an AO on the screen, at least they can see something is gone. Plus, 99% of the helpers does not know about this special invisible AO. It was a bad idea. Have "Animation Override" as a part of the AO names. Like, Gretchen Animation Override.
  4. Typing in Hatton as location usually works. I also have landmarks permanently on the top edge on the Firestorm screen, I drag the landmarks I use a lot there. So when I start Firestorm, I can choose "Premium sandbox" or on an alt, the sandbox she is using.
  5. But why can't they include AO or Animation Override in the name? It is difficult enough to explain for newbies. Now it is a new thing to remember, in some starter avatars there is no AO, in some there is an invisible prim hidden in the avatar that can come off and nothing indicates that it was there and has been detached. But at least it was named Animation Override so they could be told to search for it. I don't have time to wear all the new ones, but I tried on Bitsy, because of her jacket. And I could find no AO for her. She probably have hold poses in her tablet and bag, nothing more. Gretchen has an AO but not the others? Even if it's not called AO, but "Gretchen female formal"? So one of the new starter avatar batch has an AO? Not the others? I am confused. And irked. Thank you LL, for making it even harder to help new people.
  6. Is it just me, just the Firestorm viewer or a glitch? I mean that it was possible to wear just 1 item from a library avatar by dragging it on you, or by clicking it and wear. In the old days, years ago. Is the only way to access them, to choose the whole avatar? I found out that I had to add them to what I was wearing, this created a folder under clothing, then I could select the folder and "take off". I then had to change shape and eyebrows (the 2 things that I need to shape "me" under all the mesh). Then, and first then, could I wear one item like the brown shoulder jacket I tried to wear. Isn't this unnecessary complicated?
  7. The previous starter avatars have AO's. The ones with the horses has riding AOs, but that is not all. The others have basic AO's but they are not visible, because they are not attached to the screen, but to Center 2. But for this batch, LL has "forgotten" to include AO's. Something newbies will not know. Here is a snap of the AO from Kimberly starter avatar. I was able to pick them out. They are actually not that bad.
  8. Nice pose. Is the water standard water or some other setting? The water has improved too, then. It is easy to see how the mesh body is better. The hands especially, but the whole body. And how the hair went through the body like needles. I miss flexi hair sometimes, but rigged hair has benefits, that is for sure.
  9. I googled "Lady Tanee". It is not impossible that others played the same game as you, or found the name when they browsed games and thought it sounded nice. You are not the one and only Lady Tanee from Ragnarok, are you? I don't know if this last avatar is anything to be worried about unless she tries to impersonate you. So far you have nothing that proves it.
  10. They look like system avatars. Then they can use any mesh clothes for system avatars. Also change skin and other parts. Looks like ok skins. Unless they have painted on underwear, hehe. (Of course all I said over here is wrong, if they are no mod mesh avatars, like the previous disasters.) I really like the bottom avatar. Nice jeans.
  11. You are trapped in a corner and Ramsay Bolton and a Gorean roleplayer from Second Life is coming at you. Both intend to capture you and treat you according to the books that describe them. You have only one arrow left, so who do you shoot? It's an ocean of difference in the writing, I must admit that I only read quotes or separate pages of gorean stories, while I have read all the ASOIAF many times. If you made a roleplay that was true to ASOIAF gory parts and set up House Bolton, it would not look nice and the things done would not be nice. The TV show is actually soft on the worst abuse. You can say the Talisa Magyr was made to soften the impression of how the women were portrayed in the books. The TV series needed a dumbed down 21 century love story and a modern eye for the female role, so they created Talisa. But you could be in Gor SL as a Physican of the Green Caste, and do the healer work as Talisa did. Because the Gor books focus on haughty free women who end up enslaved and loving it, people always want to be that role in the roleplay. When it actually was only a few percent slaves, who was treated like a rarity, you can't walk in SL Gor without stumbling over slaves. It was no egalitarian thinking in either of these fantasy worlds, even if one is written 1000 times better than the other. But I am walking out because this has nothing to do with the topic.
  12. Sounds like a great idea, but he would have to pay for uploads, wouldn't he? And is it possible to get the templates without buying them? I assume the customer could send him the templates, and recieve the finished product out of SL and upload them self. The customer would want to see the work first, yes? It would take some time to build a reputation and be known? I think marketing is one of the hardest things. You can be the best artist, but if no one knows it, zero sales.
  13. You will need some money for uploads, but it is free to have a Marketplace store. For frames, you need to pay for uploading your own, if you use Blender or another program. Or buy frames. Even creating textures demand that you upload them to SL, so people can use them. The Marketplace is flooded with very cheap art and textures. It is hard to manage without a startcapital.
  14. The entry price for a year is high, but even if you look at it quarterly or even monthly, it is not so bad if you call it entertainment money. I mean, if you are on SL a lot, you could cancel a Netflix or a HBO payment and finance SL with that. You should pay for what you really use, and if the TV remote is collecting dust because you spend your time on SL... why not cancel. You get 1024 m land and you get 300 a week to pay for uploading of textures or mesh. That cover 30 uploads of drawing or other art. It is creator forums here, and the Marketplace sell free frames.
  15. Does the applier not work on both the head and the body? Or does it work on one of the parts? What is in your folder with the new skin? If it is several "box" symbols there with "appliers" in the name, are you sure you use the right one? Omega will work on Laq head, but not on Maitreya Body unless you have Omega relay for Maitreya. And if you have an applier with "Catwa" in the name, you can't use it on your body and your head. I think the problem is maybe: All options was in the demo, but you bought the wrong pack. (The vendor does not include all appliers with the full priced skin) You got appliers for multiple bodies and heads, but you use the wrong ones.
  16. The Catwa head is working best with the shape made for it. If you wear another shape, your Catwa face will look different from the ad and people will complain that the ad is misleading. Nothing stops you from wearing another shape, but you might not like how the face looks with it. You can tweak the shape as much as you want. But if you like the face, is not so easy to duplicate it, the face has so many sliders. You could copy every number of the face and change another shapes face. But it is much faster to change the body from the neck and down. What most do, is wearing the Catwa shape and copy the body measurements from the other shape and change the Catwa shape from the neck down. Then they can tweak the face, making adjustments there. It is just good to have the fabric default to start with.
  17. It is possible that the frames I tried to link first, had a LI that edged very close to 1. Now I went through a lot of frames, and a square prim set to convex hull did actually not bump up the LI over 1 for many frames. If people want to resize them bigger, I can just say that changing the size may change LI. Fascinating. It looked like the size of my convex hull prim did not matter either. This can be good for frames where there is no shadow. I can use my root prim as the shadow.
  18. Long story short, I bought full perm mesh kits. They show the mesh creator as creator. I want my name as creator so potential buyers can find me easy. This is not possible unless I create a prim as convex hull and use it as root prim. This add 1 LI. Now that people expect simpler things like frames to be 1 LI, this is to my disadvantage. I have installed Blender and read Lokis tutorial "The Secrets of Mesh Landimpact". I can't find, and I have googled it too, that LI can be lower than 0,5. Is it possible with all the tricks Loki explain it, to get even smaller LI and upload a smallest possible cube with 1 surface and the lowest LOD? I think I can manage to make a cube in Blender. I have hope about it. I am asking if it is possible to have 0,1 in LI?
  19. I forgot this question, RL was a bit too much a while. From the link in my original post. It looks like the owner of Mainland can write "do not tale photos here" but it does not count. I would not take pictures of private homes, I do think that special architecture, landscaping and such things could be nice. Not capturing other avatars of course. I think I would avoind Mainland whose owners clearly say "No, you can't take pictures here". No need to go out of my way to upset people. I don't know if anyone want it, but we will see. I can always find Wiki commons free images and other free to use images and sell them, but that sounds so boring. I found some pictures of old sims I took that are closed now, and they might be more interesting, a sort of nostalgic value. Like those in RL who buy "Old London" images and other landscapes from the past. There is no way to go back and check the covenant, but the places was featured on Flickr a lot, so I assume it was no law against it then. Good God, it is time-consuming to put out things for sale. I would not bother to do it unless we now go from 2 incomes to 1 income in RL. Even if I don't sell a single item, I don't have time for shopping when I work with it. So it is something to do, now that I can't just buy 10 000 L without hesitation and shop like crazy.
  20. I already sold my soul to LL, so a bank account number is not going to make a difference.
  21. What she said, or you can use a 100% transparent texture on it. To clarify, this is the original hair all SL avatars have and can't take off. These days it is used for eyebrow shapes. Go in appearance and find the default hair. It is often called bald cap or brow base. It has a symbol of a head in profile with a helmet-like hair blob. Click on where it says "texture", I bet it has a light yellow color now. You have a transparent texture in your library, You find it by typing transparent in your inventory search. Choose it and now problem is solved. Image from Phoenix Firestorm. Read their tutorial, English isn't my #1 language so I am perhaps not explaining well. https://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_edit_body_part#editing_your_hair
  22. So much to reply and I hope it does not look like I am picking on you. I hope you will enjoy your mesh bodies if you start to think about them as a nice new toy and not something made to make you miserable. You already paid for them, so it would be great if you started to like them and understand them. Eon Balfour said: I remember it was glitches before too. Sometimes clothes layers did not rez and you got an IM from the host "Honey cover up, this is a PG place". And the time with corrupt layers, where your layers turned like rainbows or it was buildings or other things on them. Had to log off, clear cache and then it worked for a while, but could happen again. And the shoe or hair up the butt after teleports. Or sinking in the ground with only the top of the head visible. The first scripts that added 1 script in every prim so hair or boots had hundreds of scripts, and you could not teleport before you took something off. So the sim is laggy is just a new kind of annoying stuff, but SL was never free of issues. If stuff sticks and you see it even if you turn off the layer, it could be a laggy place where scripts make everything go slow. Like when we rubberband, like we did before too... walking and walking and could not stop. You can try a freebie that clear layers, but if it is the laggy sim or Second Life having issues, it will work slow or not at all. And sometimes it is glitching. This is an old ting in Second Life. Think about when your avatar was standing before a window or a tree with alpha in it, and the alpha parts of your hair disappeared? Or when the floor had alpha, and the invisiprim in the shoe made the floor invisible around your feet? The same is for bodies. Alpha (as in tattoos) and alpha (as in lace) does not mix well. It will glitch. We can not make the glitch disappear. 😞 I have said too much already, but I must whisper: BoM.... it is a game changer that LL promised us would come in 2018. They are late... of course... BUT! You will love it. Your legacy layers can be worn under mesh bodies and heads, and show up on them. As I said, game changer. When you understand how appliers work, LL is changing everything again.....but it is simpler, like the old days. Wear a layer. So don't delete your legacy clothes, skins and tattoos. I should have said this when I told you about the neck seam that you have to buy a new skin for. If you can wait, BoM will help you with this too.
