  1. We'd bleed all over the place after a heavy meal. What if America had been properly settled by the Vikings in the 10th century?
  2. There are already several ways. Lower your complexity settings so that avatars over your chosen settings are rendered as jelly dolls. Refuce non-impostor avatars to 1 (that will be yourself). De-render complex avatars individually. Set your preferences to render friends only. Additionally, turn off Local Lights, Attached lights and Advanced Lighting.
  3. Same here. And here's the advantage of not sharing RL info. 😂
  4. The only way to do this is through your parcel audio stream, rather than object sounds. Either find a radio station that plays nothing but the type of music you want (classical piano for example), or set up your own. This assumes you own the land.
  5. Only if you have thousands of items in a single folder that aren't divided up into subfolders. My inventory is currently at 53k but I use subfolders a lot. And don't forget that 3,500 of your total is the Library, so my reported 53k is really less than 50k. If you use Firestorm, it will tell you the difference in the numbers: Here you can see that my actual inventory (objects) is really only 45k, plus 4,444 folders and subfolders. The official viewer counts only the objects, not the folders.
  6. I played around with one of my recent pics for this; as well as turning it monochrome, I upped the contrast and added a subtle graininess to give it the feel of a vintage photograph.
  7. Here's the advantage of taking snapshots in a very high resolution; this closeup is cropped from a much bigger pic.
  8. I have a premium account and I have a Linden Home with that, but I've done everything from owning mainland, renting, to roaming the grid as a homeless hobo. For now, I love my Bellisseria houseboat. I don't see much value in owning a lot of land though, unless I was doing something public with it and getting sime kind of return for the investment.
  9. I really love your makeup especially these. Is your stuff on system layers for BOM or is it appliers only?
  10. I don't think I would notice the difference tbh. I play sound through the little speakers on the back of my monitor so 128-bit quality is probably wasted on me. Two things that will get me to leave though, is DJs talking over the music, and hosts spamming gestures or begging for tips.
  11. Nearly everyone I meet in SL is over 50. A few of them are over 70. As for mature avatars, Session has a lot of good mature skins for guys.
  12. I hardly used the forum much at all until I returned to SL in 2017 after an extended break. I came back to ask a newbie question, and ended up staying. Now I pop in almost every day. I mostly stick with the People subforums, but sometimes also the Land ones.
  13. I think that would make me feel sea-sick. 🤮
  14. Is that a Jungle Voodoo skin? I had one of those.
  15. I haven't noticed this when switching between Firestorm and BD, but I have noticed it when switching between Firestorm and the official LL viewer. It does indeed "remember" some things (but not everything) from that viewer's last login session, not necessarily your last login on the other viewer. The solution that works for me is to log into the new viewer, change into whatever you want to wear, then log out and log back in to the same viewer again.
  16. Not all dark elves are drow... The skin is a free group gift I picked up at LAQ while I was picking up demo heads. And I forgot to change my eyes to brown, but in the end it worked, the pale eyes look good too. Location is Prehistorica (the dinosaur store), their landscaping is just beautiful.
  17. I'm from the north (of England) and okra isn't popular here, except with Carribbean communities, and some adventurous Indian takeaways who serve more than just the usual popular "English style" curries like Korma, Rogan Josh and Tikka-Masala. I'm dairy-intolerant so I can't have sour cream at all, and mayo is too greasy to be putting on food that's already greasy. I believe mayo on chips is a Dutch invention, but I noticed when I visited Canada it's popular there too. @Orwar is correct; the proper condiment on chips is just salt and vinegar but I regularly have hot sauce instead (I tend to use hot sauce like other people use ketchup - maybe that's why I think ketchup is too sweet and bland). I'll often have gravy on them instead. I tend not to add ice (or whisky stones) to any drink; drinks that are too cold make me feel uncomfortable when I'm drinking them. The water straight out of my tap at home is extremely cold (and very nice - Manchester tap water is among the best in the UK) so I let it stand for a few minutes before drinking it. The only exception is during that one week of nice warm weather we have in the mid-year season that pretends to be "summer". It makes me cringe when I order a single malt Scotch or a cognac in a bar, and the bar-tender asks me if I want ice in it. Good lord no, if I have ordered a decent Scotch or cognac, I want to taste what I'm paying for. Ice is for the cheap house whisky that you don't want to taste. The only thing you should ever add to good Scotch is a splash of warm water; that really lifts the flavours. Drinking it in a Glencairn glass and cradling it lovingly in your hand like a new-born kitten, as you slowly sip it before a roaring log-fire, has the same effect.
  18. System alphas don't work with Maitreya BOM, so it's not that.
  19. Okra is the only vegetable I can't bear to eat. It makes its own mucus. 🤮
  20. So I bought new hair today, from Stealthic, and then went to Burrows with Black Dragon: I ended up editing these because I decided to crop them for better composition, so I replaced the viewer's vignette that got chopped off. I've noticed though, that I didn't need to sharpen them, which I nearly always have to do when I take pics in Firestorm. Also showing off the new dress, made by myself (well, from a mesh template anyway).
  21. Ahah! I knew I recognised it; I have that one too. 😊
  22. Looking at the length of that list, I'd say they were struggling too much to think of new ones that hadn't already been used (and that weren't subject to some trademark or copyright restriction).
  23. Welcome back Skell. I love the hair; I thought it was No Perfection from No Match, but I just looked at mine and it's not the same. What is it?
  24. Open the snapshot window and select "Save to disk", then select the resolution at "1024 x 768". Take the snapshot and choose where to save it (remember where it is!). Then go yo your web profile at https://my.secondlife.com/, (it's easier to do this in your regular browser, not in the SL viewer) then click on the current pic of yourself to go to your settings page. Click on "Profile Picture" and upload your new one. Uploading your snapshot to the web-profile rather than the viewer profile has two advantages; your pic won't get squashed to square, and it won't cost you L$10 to upload it.
  25. I'm on the fence about these two. I tried the demos, and while they are 95% lovely, I don't like the mouth shape as much as on my regular Catwa head, and the sliders don't help me achieve the look I want with it. I like the eyes better though, and the overall face shape, especially Nova. And my regular skin works beautifully with both of them. Also, I don't know if it was lag or what, but I had a lot of difficulty activating animations, they seemed to keep turning themselves off moments after I turned them on. And when I finally did get one to "stick", I couldn't turn it off again. But the animations are much better (more natural) than the Catwa ones. If I didn't already have a head that I like a lot, I would probably have bought one of these, but I think they came out six months too late for me.
