  1. If all else fails, get a re-delivery from the mainstore. Sometimes a crash can permanently break scripted objects that you're wearing, either in the body itself or the hud.
  2. I managed to make a sphere. Anything more complicated than that was too much for my poor little brain.
  3. LOL I uninstalled it after less than 24 hours, and swore I will never touch it again.
  4. I rarely eat meat but once in a while I have a pepperoni and pineapple pizza. They go together surprisingly well (I guess because pepperoni tastes somewhat like bacon?). I wouldn't have pineapple on a regular veggie pizza. I haven't eaten bacon in nearly 20 years.
  5. 1. Have a BOM-capable viewer 2. Obtain the BOM relay for your particular body (or a generic Omega relay if your body doesn't have one but is omega-ready, such as this https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Bake-on-Mesh-skin-applier-Omega/14391590) 3. Wear both the body and the relay. 4. Click the relay. The body will turn red. 5. Remove your full body alpha. The body will show your system skin. From now on, all system skins and layers you wear will show on your mesh body, and will change automatically as you add and remove layers. You don't need to wear the relay all the time. Some bodies won't work, if they are not omega-compatible and don't have any kind of applier capability; for example the free bodies from Altamura.
  6. This is an old outfit which I owned on an alt many years ago, but I love it so much and had to get it again. The prim parts don't fit me as well as they fit my alt (who was smaller and much slimmer than I am) but it still works and still looks great. Body: Maitreya + V-Tech Skin: Flamboyant Sweets Stacy Outfit: Deviance Drow Moon Priestess Makeup: Glamorize
  7. On the other hand many items of clothing come with options for several bodies included. You'll usually find, as a minimum, Maitreya, Belleza Freya and Slink Hourglass, and often the Standard sizes (for non-mesh bodies) too. Assuming from the name @Jolynn Darkmatter that you're female; if you're male, the main bodies supplied for will be Signature Gianni and Belleza Jake. I highly recommend going Bakes on Mesh right from the start; a couple of bodies (Slink being the main one, plus Signature if you're a guy) are already set up for it straight out of the box, the other major ones offer a free relay in store which will convert the regular mesh body to BOM. You just wear the body, wear the relay, click the relay and it's done. Remember NOT to wear the full-body alpha, you don't need that with BOM. There's a myth going round that Bakes on Mesh is too hard/too complicated; this is true only if you're young enough to not remember pre-mesh bodies. But for anyone who was around pre-mesh, it's much easier. Once you've gone BOM, you dress your avatar in almost exactly the way you're used to, and you'll be able to wear all the same system layer/flexi clothes and skins that you wore before. And if you change your mind and want to try non-BOM, all you need to do is put on an applier skin, or one of the default skins from your body hud, and put the full-body alpha back on. Going BOM is not permanent, neither is going back, you can change either way whenever you want.
  8. There is only one unicode skull and crossbones, and it's this one: ☠️ Be aware though, that some special characters will break your display name completely, either you'll get an "invalid character" error, or it will display just a square box. And you'll be stuck for a week, with your options only to leave it broke, or revert to your username. Best plan is to test it first on an alt you rarely use.
  9. I use Maitreya, even though there are some things about it that I dislike (like shoulders made of extruded plasticine), but there are a number of reasons why I stick with it and won't change until someone creates a new body that suits me better. First, there are the two mods I wouldn't be without; the V-Tech flat chest and the other one to do my missing arm. Both of these mods are Maitreya-only. Second, the general shape of the body being on the slimmer side, I can approximate a slender male shape with it, which is much harder with most other female bodies. Third is the availability of clothing, though I see that this is slowly changing and support for other bodies seems to be picking up. I don't use a male body often any more but when I do, it's always Geralt.
  10. Personally I feel that 50 is enough; even with a mesh body and head, I have no problem keeping mine down at around 30 or lower. People need to get out of the habit of travelling round the grid with their head and body huds still attached. But I am sure that whatever you set it to; 50 or 75 or even higher, someone will complain. (Just checked and I'm currently carrying 24).
  11. I love the Shelter, and I hang out there regularly, and you're right; it's very newbie-friendly with lots of oldbies there who are all happy to answer questions. Actually its funny, sometimes there'll be a dozen of us all over 10 years old, and hardly a newbie in sight.
  12. The only thing that surprised me about it is that the company I work for, which likes to try and do everything as cheap as possible, actually upgraded to Win10 more than a year ago. And oh boy, you should have heard the complaints from people who didn't like it. I browse the forum on my phone during breaks at work, and when I'm on the bus. But I am in no way addicted, no not at all...
  13. I did something similar, though in my case it was because I was mainly playing World of Warcraft instead. I didn't even notice how long I'd been away from SL until I did one of those "post pics of how your avatar's changed over the years" challenges and I discovered gaps; I have no pics at all from 2013 or 2015, and only a handful from one month in 2014.
  14. There was never a promise to release new Premium gifts annually, only that there would be a gift available, and they would be exclusive to Premium members. But they are certainly not focused on Sansar; their biggest focus of the past 12 months has been the new Linden Homes in Bellisseria which have been so popular that there isn't anywhere enough of them (yet) to meet demand. Once they reach the stage where there's enough Bellisserian homes to meet the demand for them, I'm sure that the Moles will move on to other things, including building new Premium gifts. And Bakes on Mesh isn't a Premium-only benefit; anyone can use it if they want to. But if none of the Premium benefits are of personal value to you, the solution is simple; cancel your subscription and go back to Basic. Linden Lab won't mind; there are enough people who have upgraded to get a Bellisserian home (myself included) to keep them happy for a while.
  15. Not a horror story, but I learned only this week about some nifty features in the mini-map, including parcel boundaries. I've been in SL for 13 years and I had no idea. One thing's for sure about SL; no matter how long you're here, you never stop learning.
  16. @ProzacGummyBear I don't see the box rezzed yet, its just in your inventory. Left-click that orange box in the inventory and, keeping the mouse button held down, drag it out of the list onto the floor, and let go. What happens next varies depending on what that box is. If it's the actual house, you're finished. But it might just bea packaging box. In that case you need to right-click the box, select Open, and Copy to Inventory. Then you go back to your inventory list and you'll find a new folder. Inside that folder is another orange object; now you can drag THAT one to the floor and that will be your house.
  17. If that's the case, why does turning down options make such a big difference, even when standing in the exact same place, with camera facing the same direction, less than 1 minute later with zero avatars (besides myself, wearing the exact same items) in the region? The difference is more noticeable in FS than in BD; For example yesterday, in the location where I took that pic, in Firestorm I went from 74 FPS at low-medium settings, down to 15-20 with Ultra and shadows on. With Black Dragon the difference was from 20-ish to about 6. During that time (under a minute, and another couple of minutes to re-log with the other viewer), there were no other avatars present and nothing changed in the environment. ETA I kept draw distance the same, at 128m, in all four of these cases.
  18. So I installed Black Dragon and had a play around with it today. Absolutely LOVE that pose adjusting thing. And the shadows; I have never seen such lovely soft shadows in SL, ever. I had a lot of fun with it. This is a raw snapshot, not one single bit of post processing at all. Even the vignette is part of the viewer. Full size 4800px-wide version is on my Flickr. I just wish my PC was powerful enough for me to run around with SL looking like this all the time. Unfortunately it's not really powerful enough for Black Dragon (my fps here was down to 6, and even with all the graphics settings dropped to the lowest settings I could find, it never went above 20, which is about what I get with Firestorm on High/Ultra). I'll definitely be using it for future photos though. I only ever see that tiling effect when I have Ambient Occlusion turned on, regardless of resolution.
  19. I'll only change mine if they add one of the last names I entered into the contest (Nelyafinwe). I'm just hoping that someone in the Lab is a fan of the Silmarillion.
  20. I haven't had this happen with an AO, as I use Firestorm's built-in AO, but I have had it happen several times with huds for my head and body, on occasions when I've forgotten to take them off before teleporting. In all cases the cause appears to be the teleport itself. Sometimes re-logging helped and sometimes I needed to unpack a fresh one. It's getting so frequent that I now religiously remove all huds before teleporting anywhere. So yes, I do think there is something going on.
  21. I have no idea about the ones you posted there, but Mayfly has the type of eyes you're after. Each pack includes both mesh eyes and system eyes, and there's an alpha included to hide your system eyes if you're using the mesh ones. The mesh ones are not rigged so they can be repositioned and work with any head. And they have about a gazillion different colours. There's a freebie in store which is basically a wearable demo so you can try them out.
  22. ORLY?? My neice (who also plays SL) sent me this pic from the birthing room where she had her baby a couple of years ago.
  23. Ziggy called it. It's from tarte, and it's originally light blue, but it's mod so I coloured it purple myself (and shrunk it down cos it was also much too big). https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/tarte-retro-coffee-table/8781794
  24. I've been busy re-modelling the interior of my houseboat (Wallower) with a bit more colour and more than a touch of boho chic... There's a kitchen and bathroom behind the dividers but they're kinda boring in comparison.
