  1. A wretched hive of misogyny and homophobia inspired by the worst fantasy books ever written (until the Twilight Saga).
  2. Hair is my addiction. I only buy fatpacks too, because I need all the colours. Yes, really all of them. (Thats why I stick mainly to Magika, their fatpacks are only around 340L.)
  3. I think it boils down to "are you a pro blogger and how famous is your name?" People who get hundreds of likes per pic have thousands of followers.
  4. My avatar was an elf right from the start (2006), based primarily on the character Maedhros from Tolkien's Silmarillion, and my name Matti is short for Maitimo which is his Quenya name. And he stayed the same for 13 years... but lately I've shifted gender, and shifted my red hair to blonde.
  5. Had to clean this one up a bit, the original (NSFW) is on my Flickr. Location is the Blacklist Bunker, which is a great photogenic spot for dystopian/cyberpunk/future-Tokyo.
  6. Same outfit, different location, and this time with Black Dragon. The coloured light effect isn't post-processing, that happened in the viewer as I was playing with windlight, and it looked so perfect for this shot.
  7. Paging @Skell Dagger, or anyone else who knows more about the Catwa hud than I do. The Materials sliders on my hud are greyed out and disabled, clicking on them does nothing, so I cannot set shine on the head to match my body. How do I activate this feature?
  8. Sn@tch outlet discount store still has some decent system layer stuff; it's old but holds up well. I've bought quite a lot of stuff from there. I prefer system layer dresses with flexi skirts for formal-wear because they're much nicer for dancing; long mesh skirts often distort badly when you're throwing your legs around like Ginger Rogers. I've collected quite a few from Sharodie's, and splashed out on a couple of very glam gowns from Utopia. Luas is another store that still has nice system stuff, though it's more fantasy than contemporary. Creative Chaos is another one with nice fantasy/medieval stuff; their inworld store is gone but they're still on the MP. And that multi-layer freebie store is Freebie Galaxy - definitely best avoided.
  9. Spaced Out... Had a hell of a job fixing the "broken" shoulder in that second pic, but I think it worked out ok.
  10. Huds should not be worn anywhere except at home when setting up your body. They are not intended to be kept on all the time when you're clubbing or whatever, and that warning you got is a normal reminder to take it off when you've finished setting up. Always, always detach your huds before teleporting somewhere else. In any case, teleporting with a complex hud attached can break it. That said, while huds can affect lag, they don't normally affect the type of lag that causes a drop in fps. Anyway, I just tested my body with v5 vs v4.1 and got the following results, at ground level in a Bellisseria home. Firestorm, with High graphics settings, advanced lighting on, shadows off, draw distance 128. Camera not moved. With v5 my fps is currently around 62. With v4.1 it dropped to 45. I put v5 back on and it immediately rose again back to 62. No difference whether the huds were attached or not. No other settings were changed. So that is pretty conclusive to me. After teleporting to my 3000m skybox (on the same parcel), my fps rose to 130, on account of not having to render the surroundings around my Linden Home. I am assuming that the fps drop on v4.1 is related to the additional onion-layers and possibly because of the separate hands and feet. I also tried opening and closing various tabs on the v5 Hud to see if there was any particular tab that might have complex textures that would cause a drop in fps. No tabs made any difference. My fps nearly always drops by 20-30 points when entering any place where there's more than a half-dozen of other people present, regardless of what I'm wearing. In certain clubs it drops even more. That's normal for SL. But it seems to me like you have some other issue, either with your viewer, your hardware, or with something else you're wearing.
  11. We don't know if Kiera meant "the first 5 names out of the first batch" or "the first batch of 5 names". Unless you know of a quote from a Linden elsewhere that specifies how many names there will be per batch (and if so could you please provide a link).
  12. Wait... will there be only 5 to choose from at any one time? Or will the list be bigger in the future?
  13. Thanks @Ajay McDowwll, I might accept that offer at a later stage, going to see how I get on with these two first. Maybe we could do kitten-swaps?
  14. This worked, thank you. Both kittens were where they should be when I logged in this morning.
  15. Session are starting to release some male skins in BoM layers too. Not all of them yet, but they have about half a dozen out so far, including some more mature-looking ones. Not my thing, but I did try a demo and they look really good.
  16. No, 25 guests closely packed together or the same 25 guests spread further apart won't make any difference, unless they are so far apart that they are outside of each others' draw distance. Clubs that are too big are annoying anyway, because if the dance floor is more than 20m across, you miss half the chat. Does your club have neighbours? It might be scripts on other people's parcels. Clubs in skyboxes tend to be less laggy than ones at ground level, simply because there's less stuff nearby that has to be rendered, but even that won't help if your neighbours' scripts are hogging all the region's script time. But the majority of the lag is the avatars themselves.
  17. Their range is still set to 5m which is the default. They are not going out the walls, the kitten that's doing this is literally sinking through the floor, she gets lower and lower with each step until she pops through and drops to ground level (which is underwater). This is happening right in the middle of her wander range, not at the edges of it. I caught the other kitten do it once, and only once, but the first one does it all the time.
  18. This is a great idea. Especially the part about replacing the Sad button.
  19. I think that over the past 4 years or so they have become much more complicated than they used to be, but I do also agree with @Scylla Rhiadra; I think Bakes on Mesh will, when fully implemented, reduce that complexity again. It's almost as easy to dress a mesh avatar using BoM as it was to dress a classic avatar. I don't think I've touched my head's hud in weeks, except when I need to hide or un-hide my ears for swapping with mesh elf-ears. In some ways though, pre-mesh outfits were much more complex than mesh ones. In a mesh outfit you get one top, one skirt or pair of pants, one pair of shoes. With a few alternative sizes to be ignored, and a hud to change the textures/colours. Pre-mesh, an outfit could comprise of more than a dozen parts and options just for the top, and the same again for the pants. And with all the colour options included as separate pieces. And then you had to figure out which of the 50+ items in the box you need to actually wear to make one full outfit.
  20. This looks great. Do system skirts work properly on Maitreya now? There was too much of a gap around the waist when I tried them on v4.1.
  21. Well, today I went to the Breakfast Club at @Ajay McDowwll's house, and met several of her cute Kittycats. An hour later, I was at the Kittycat store and now I have two of my own. Beth and Anduin. I have a question though, for anyone who knows about Kittycats. One of them keeps sinking through the floor of my houseboat and ends up stuck on the sea-bed, I have to keep sending her back home. It only happens to the one kitten, not the other. But I cannot see any difference in their settings. Is there something I can do to stop this from happening? I'm worried about losing her.
