  1. This has been happening on and off for weeks now. One thing to check, is that if you are also logged into your SL dashboard, or the forums, make sure you're logged into those with the same account, or just logged out of them altogether. It seems to happen more often if you're logged into the forums or dashboard with a different account.
  2. If you made it happen, I'd enter, in all my manliest fabulousness.
  3. It sounds like you have one of the new Animesh hairs, they are intended to move, in an attempt to imitate being blown by the wind, to look more realistic. In my opinion though, they look less realistic. They might have included a non-animated version in the pack, or have an option on the hud to turn off the animations. If not, you'll have to either keep the movement or wear different hair. This said, I have seen one animesh style (@Alyona Su could tell you what it is because I saw it on her) which looks incredibly realistic, and reacts to actual avatar movement. That one is really good.
  4. I'll just leave this here. https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/United-Kingdom/gasoline_prices/ At today's prices, and with today's exchange rate, ours is US$6.29 per gallon. California is cheap.
  5. And most of those smells are nothing to do with fuel. You really don't want to hang around anywhere near the ends of the carriages on a Virgin train. Or any other train, for that matter. *gags*
  6. That's good to know, thank you. The one remaining issue for me then, is whether the new alpha cuts will be different from or the same as the old ones.
  7. For me it depends how the alpha hud will work with attached hands. If I can alpha the hands individually, then it will be fine (and assuming also that the alpha cuts on the arms are in the same places as before). But if the hud for v5 does not allow for hands to be alphaed individually, or if the alpha cuts for the arms are not in the same places as they were before, the mod for my missing arm won't work any more, in which case I'll be sticking with v4.1.
  8. VAT is not going to disappear. It might change a little in the way rates are calculated and the way it's administered. Some things that are currently exempt might not be, and vice-versa. The only difference is that the UK will be free to decide those changes themselves rather than be forced into rules set by the EU. That said, I am not in favour of Brexit and I think that without the EU there will be less protection for vulnerable people such as the disabled and the unemployed. I am lucky; though disabled I can still work and I have a job that pays more than minimum wage, and the company I work for does not trade in the EU. But I have already seen my pension slashed by 25%. The people who will be most harmed by Brexit will be two groups; those on minimum or no income, and those who depend on European trade for their income or their job.
  9. I would probably migrate to Opensim. The content creation in Sinespace is more than I can handle but I can at least make some basic layer-and-flexi clothing in Opensim.
  10. As long as left and right hands can be alpha'ed out separately, like they can with Signature and Belleza. If its both-or-neither, I won't be updating mine.
  11. Because when the Brexit vote first happened, they were trading based on the (fake) promises made by politicians. Since then, they've been listening to economists.
  12. I would cut back to zero land and cancel my Premium subscription if I had to. But the difference between $99 at an exchange rate of 1.4 and an exchange rate of 1.1 is about 20 quid a year. That's 38p a week. If I can't spare 38p a week, I would have much bigger concerns than whether to renew my SL subscription. I might actually go for the 3 year deal though: I have a feeling that the exchange rate might drop a lot further and if I can get the next 3 years at todays exchange rate, that could be a better deal.
  13. This is exactly why Linden Lab would not have done anything, even if they'd been asked. The only prior cases in which they have stepped in to save a place from closure is when its been somewhere very longstanding that is a part of SL history. That's why they saved Chouchou and the SS Galaxy. Not because they are popular, or because they look good, but because they were part of SL's early years.
  14. Does anyone know any good grungy, run-down urban city locations that are not roleplay regions? The only ones that come up on Search are role-play regions, but I only want to take some photos and I don't want to be an annoyance.
  15. Naah, all the entrants would be clones with an Aesthetic body and Catwa Stanley head. Boooring.
  16. Assuming that my avatar can sing better than I can in RL, I'd front a 1980s style hair-rock band like Guns & Roses or Europe.
  17. I don't click a lot, except on the picture threads when I'm browsing at home on my PC (the reaction buttons are harder to use on a phone). And I will always give thanks if someone answers a question I've asked, or otherwise adds something helpful to something else I've written. There are two buttons I'd love to see added. One is Agree, because I often want to acknowledge that I agree with something even when I don't actually like it. The other is Hug. We REALLY need a Hug button. But I really don;' think a downvote or dislike button is a good idea. If you want to show that you dislike or disagree with something that someone said, you should at least be prepared to back up your opinon with reasons.
  18. From another thread. Yes, this is the Harajuku starter outfit from about 2006. Well, at least the shirt and pants. Everything else is new. On location in Rieri Town, Tokyo. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/SSOC/73/183/30
  19. I just turn everything up as high as it will go and hope for the best; so far successful; at the highest graphics settings my PC handles BD better than it does with Firestorm in Ultra. I've already changed the key bindings to make movement easier using the keys I'm most familiar with (I wish Firestorm had that feature). But I won't be using BD as my main viewer until I can find the time to configure an AO hud with the same animations I have in my Firestorm built-in AO; the thought of re-writing an AO notecard with all that lot fills me with dread. Until then, I'm using BD only for snapshots. If BD had a built-in AO I would already be using it as my only viewer.
  20. OMG thank you! I've wanted the Harajaku outfit for so long....
  21. That's more or less how I would look if I ran my own opensim. Except my pants would be blue, my top would be black and white, and my hair would be red.
  22. 99% of companies would go bust within a week, no-one outside of rural tribal communities can function any more, anarchy ensues, native indigenous tribes win the world. What if everyone was telepathic and could hear everyone else's thoughts all the time?
  23. Comparing this with your forum profile pic (which I presume is you in RL) that's a really excellent likeness. Maybe need to tweak your shape a little though; your RL pic has a square jaw but in SL it's more triangular. You can adjust that with the shape sliders (Edit Appearance).
