  2. It's not drivable because it's not a road. It's a board walk. That's also why they don't have rezzing zones on them.

  4. I turned up at the Fantasy Faire this year thinking I might be called upon to slay a dragon, or something. Instead, I found myself confronted by a fearsome..... cupcake?? Well, have at thee, fiend! We'll see which of us devours the other!

  8. I was working on this outfit nearly all day yesterday and it was not quite right (the self-imposed Fantasy Faire burden of "How do I outdo myself now" is huge), but once I changed out the hair and added the wings, aura, and staff, yeah. Done

  11. I started trying to make a realistic Korean avie almost as soon as I joined in 2009. It was not easy back then. Most head and skin designers did not seem to know what Asian facial/bone structure is actually like. It was frustrating to see creators slap a Caucasian skin onto a head, crank up the out corner of the eyes and advertise it as Asian. That's a caricature, and an offensive one really. So, I began a lonely journey down this years-long rabbit hole, tweaking, tweaking tweaking. Fortunately, in recent years, designers have begun to understand Asian cheekbones, nose bridges, eye sockets, eyelids, eyebrows, etc. Here's where I'm at today. This photo is a pure screenshot - no photochopping. Lastly, if there's one thing I've learned in all of this, when you've tweaked your shape into a dark corner of the ugly room, set it all to 50s and start over -- don't try to tweak your way out of it! EvoX Ceylon + Moccino Gia + Velour Porcelain + 100% custom shape.

  13. Did someone else post meanwhile? Someone else did post (with a lovely picture too) so I can post again, wee! https://www.flickr.com/photos/191119559@N02/53664066216/in/dateposted-public/ Sideproduct of an attempt to animate the water in... wallpaper engine of all things. I got close but failed at the step of making it loop properly and lost motivation. I feel like I'm on the right track though.

  14. Learn More About the Tilia Acquisition in an All-New Lab Gab! Join us for a special edition of “Lab Gab” with Linden Lab Executive Chairman Oberwolf Linden, who discusses this week’s announcement that cross-border payments firm Thunes has entered into an agreement to acquire Tilia. This deal is good news for Second Life residents and creators, who will soon see more payment processing options without additional costs. As part of the transaction, Thunes and Linden Lab (which is the current majority owner of Tilia), have agreed to an exclusive five-year partnership in which, post closing, Thunes will provide payment processing and pay-outs to Linden Lab, leveraging Thunes’ global network – allowing gamers to pay, and to receive money real-time, in a more cost-efficient way and with increased transparency. Oberwolf tackles many of the top questions emerging from the community about the transaction, including more specific details about what this means for the Second Life community now and in the future. Here are links to some of the topics we’ve covered in this episode: https://www.thunes.com/news/thunes-announces-agreement-to-acquire-tilia-llc https://www.pymnts.com/acquisitions/2024/thunes-tackles-us-gaming-market-with-tilia-acquisition To learn more, be sure to watch Lab Gab on the Second Life YouTube Channel! For full episodes of Lab Gab, click over to the Lab Gab YouTube Playlist. Join Second Life Leadership in Conversation at our Community Roundtable Event We’re also excited to announce the all-new Community Roundtable event with Second Life Leadership, scheduled to be held May 20 at 9:30-11 a.m. SLT. This is an opportunity to connect directly with our top executives, share your input, and discuss ideas on enhancing Second Life. This initiative represents another step in our efforts to improve our community interactions, ensuring that your voice is more directly heard and valued. At the first meeting, we’ll be joined by Linden Lab Executive Chairman Oberwolf Linden and Senior VP of Product & Engineering Grumpity Linden. During future Roundtable meetups, we’ll rotate in other executives to participate on a variety of topics and we’ll also aim to vary the scheduling to be more accessible to other time zones. For the inaugural session, we’ll open with some important updates on recent developments and announcements including the new agreement by global payment provider Thunes to acquire Tilia and other recent policy changes. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions during the open Q&A portion of the event, but please remember that this Community Roundtable is not meant to serve as a forum for individual support issues or personal grievances. While we do welcome candid and honest interactions, the spirit and intent of this gathering is to provide an opportunity for both Leadership and the community to listen and learn from each other. Our usual Community Standards apply and hate speech or personal attacks will not be tolerated. If you would like to submit a question in advance or just provide feedback directly to Leadership prior to the event, then please use this anonymous form. We’ll update this post with the inworld location closer to the Roundtable date…and we look forward to seeing you inworld on May 20! Second Life Leadership Team

  16. On the new rules for child avatars. More rules for residents because of recent allegations against staff is not the solution to those allegations. It's pandering to people who skimmed over the whole thing and assumed there was guilt. Users with entirely innocent uninvolved child avatars did not cause this mess and should not be made the scapegoat and punished for it, regardless of what anyone personally thinks about them. --- To elaborate here .. even something simple like banning child avatars from proximity to adult content is a train wreck that makes it unsafe to have a child avatar anywhere in SL. In practice "proximity" means that a child avatar can't be in a boat, even an innocent boat, because every other boat is really a boat shaped sex bed. How do child avatars shop for furniture .. all stores sell PG and Adult side by side. How do child avatars exist in public spaces where anyone can walk up sporting no end of spicy content. What if someone rezzes a mobile sex bed (aka a CAR) on M land, drives it on mainland roads, and passes a child avatar. That child avatar on G land and is now in proximity. Restricting child avatars to G land is also not a solution, mainland is hopscotch of G and M (with some private A regions just for fun). So restricting to G actually bans child avatars from region crossings. This isn't hyperbole .. the original rules and definitions are so fuzzy because of issues like this, LL couldn't solve this back in 2007 in a way that didn't outlaw an entire section of the community as a side effect.
