  1. Yay! Thank you all SO much for sharing. It is only fair that I do the same. I posted a brief in one of the other threads around here somewhere, asking about Lindens, but I will offer more here. I started in SL as a user WAY back in December 2006 and by sheer dumb luck, was posting on the old SLExchange Forums where I caught the attention of Kristy, the manager of the site, and was offered part time "job" doing item reviews for L$. It made shopping much nicer since I could see all of the stuff that the merchants were creating and listed, and I got a few L$ a week to help pay for the stuff I was buying. We (SLX) went to SLCC in Tampa in 2008 and got a chance to see and meet some of the users and the Linden's who attended. I guess the Linden's were impressed with SLExchange/Xstreetsl, since by the end of the year in 2008 Jay had been made an offer for the Marketplace, and by the middle of the 2009, Linden had acquired the site and we were folded into the company. Of the 7 of us who were working for SLX at the time, 6 transitioned to the Lab and only 2 of us remain with the company today. There have been a LOT of changes during those years, both within Linden Lab and with the Marketplace. Brooke worked really hard behind the scenes to transition the Marketplace over to Direct Delivery and VMM, and I was sorry when she left the company. Grumpity has done an AWESOME job since she took over, and is also working very hard behind the scenes to continue to build on VMM and work through the massive backlog of requests and issues that had to be placed on the back burner during the DD and subsequent VMM change. For the longest time (like YEARS), I was the only one handling everything on the customer facing side of the Marketplace. So all tickets, item reviews, etc., landed on my desk, so to speak. Recently, as I am sure a lot of you have noticed, tickets are now being handled by a bunch of other employees. Instead of being a "team of one", I am now on our Customer Accounts team with a group of other amazing people. So my job duties have expanded and we now have help on the Marketplace regarding tickets, Flag Reports, etc. I will eventually retire, and move on from Linden Lab, but I am hoping that I manage to stay around for at least 10 - 15 years before that happens, so you should be stuck with me for at least the next 1-5 years LOL, since 2019 will be my tenth year with the company. I am a gamer at heart, and when not at work, I am usually playing some type of game, Assassin's Creed, Tomb Raider, Skyrim, WoW (For the Alliance!), etc., but I also enjoy getting outside sometimes (I am not a total hermit), and enjoy taking drives out to the lake (when it isn't full of toxic algae), heading over to one of the local islands and grabbing lunch with family or friends, or traveling, which I haven't been doing enough of lately. And..... if you couldn't tell by my Pride Bear Icon, I am part of the LGBT Community.
  2. Greetings all! The Make Friends section should be used for discussions about making friends in Second Life, as noted by the forum sub title: "It’s easy to make friends in Second Life. Discuss the best ways to connect to other Residents." To date, we have not been strictly enforcing the types of posts that you all have been creating, but I would like to see more posting about the topic of making friends, than actual ads looking for others. To that end, I have created this topic and I invite everyone to post in here with some information about themselves and what types of things you are into in Second Life. Please keep it G rated, though, since this is not the Adult Section.
  3. Greetings! Just a friendly reminder to be careful when creating new posts and threads. The Your Avatar section should be used for discussions about Second Life Avatars. If you are looking for a specific avatar, style, or item, please post to the Wanted section If you are seeking someone who can help you make an Avatar, please post to the Inworld Employment section. If you seek help with creating your own content, please post in one of the Creation sub-forums. Thank you all!
  4. Greetings! This thread has been locked. 1. No one can create a "Forum Account". 2. The only people who can post on the SL Community Forums are those who have created a Second Life Account. 3. Issues with Profile Search has nothing to do with the Forums. If you cannot find an SL Avatar on the web profiles page or by using in world search, it doesn't mean that the SL Account doesn't exist.
  5. Greetings all! Linden Bears are definitely still a thing although not every Linden has one. Some historical bears may no longer be available, and if there are Bears rezzed in world, or on the Marketplace, from Lindens who are no longer working with the company, you may be able to get a bear that way. My forum avatar icon image is one of the bears I did a couple of years ago for Pride, and it is on the Marketplace where you can buy it for Zero L$.
  6. Hello Santanooo! The "Send to Marketplace" wording is shown if you right click on the item in your Inventory window. If you open the Marketplace UI window directly, as shown in your screenshot, the wording that is shown instead says to Drop folders here to create a new listing.
  7. Greetings! That was part of the holdover from SLX/Xstreet. Items that were priced %5 or less higher on the Marketplace than in world were allowed so that the users could charge their customers more to cover the %5 commission fee that was charged by the site for each sale.
  8. Greetings all! The Inflated Listing Price restriction was put in place by Apotheus when he created SLExchange (renamed to Xstreetsl), to prevent users from abusing his marketplace by advertising their items on his site and then avoiding paying the commission fee by telling users that they can buy the items cheaper in world. After this thread was brought to the attention of the Marketplace Team, they worked as quickly as possible to address your concerns and update the Listing Guidelines, as noted in the post by Alexa, linked above.
  9. Hi LeaSvetlana! The absolutely easiest way look for the items is to go to the appropriate Long Hair category. You do not specify if you are looking for men's or women's long hair though Women's Long Hair Men's Long Hair You can click the appropriate link above, or follow the next steps to locate the sub-categories using the Marketplace Category Menu Options. The Long Hair sub-categories are located through the menu on the left by clicking on Avatar Accessories - Hair and you will see both Men's Long Hair and Women's Long Hair as sub-categories. Click on the one you want. Once you are in the Long Hair sub-category you want, scroll down the menu on the left and enter 2 for the minimum price, then hit the Enter key on your keyboard. The Marketplace will then filter all listings in the category to only show you items with a minimum price of 2L. This should eliminate 99% of the Demo listings in the category.
  10. Hi Gadget! My Bad! I didn't realize account name changes are ruled by an "industry standard"! I might have to try to find that law/ruling. Thank you!
  11. Greetings! Second Life is its own service, using code that is different from other services. How other companies or services do things has no bearing on how Linden Lab does things.
  12. Hello AmethestPearl! My personal recommendation would be to create the new HUD version, and then add that new HUD version to the Marketplace as a new Product Listing. You could then add a very prominent note on the existing listing linking to the new HUD Version or the item/s. The Related Items options on the existing single item listings should also be used to link to the new HUD Version. Eventually, the sales on your single item listings will fall off, and may eventually stop all together, and at that point you can unlist or delete the single item versions of the items. There is a little bit of initial work going back and adding the link to the new HUD version on the listings for the single items, and setting up the Related Items link, compared to just putting up a new listing, but I think in the long run, this may end up being the easiest option with the least amount of hassle. Once you have created your first HUD version of your existing single items, drop an update in here and I can further walk you through the process described above if you would like!
  13. Greetings all! The most likely scenario is that you have your Second Life Avatar name linked to your RL name somewhere on the internet and doing a search of your SL Avatar name showed your RL name. While Linden Lab appreciates, and absolutely LOVES when users work to help each other out, please be careful when claiming a user has been hacked, or is being stalked. The most simplest answer is usually the correct one.
  14. Hello llHexy Last Names will be offered as a list of pre-approved names in order to prevent abuse or other issues with using non standard characters in account names.
  15. To whom? Only the seller can correct the broken or outdated SLurls. Any request would necessitate adding a function to the Marketplace system to notify the sellers when a report is done. And this would open the system up for abuse, since users could just click on the report to harass the seller.
  16. Greetings! All Off Topic posts on this thread have been removed.
  17. Greetings! Please ask yourself a question before replying to a post: Does my reply have anything to do with the OP in this thread? If the answer is no, then do not reply. I have tried to use that same question when looking at the posts in this thread. If I found that the answer was no, then the post was removed. Cheers~
  18. Greetings! If you believe that the content that you purchased was sold against the copyright of the original creator, the only thing you can do it notify the original creator with a link to both the item or items you purchased and the DMCA policy page. Only the original creator can submit a DMCA violation notification with Linden Lab as the original creator is the only one who can legally say that the item or items are being sold in violation of their copyright. This information is provided in the Linden Lab DMCA Policy page, located here: https://www.lindenlab.com/legal/intellectual-property-infringement-notification-policy It is solely the responsibility of the original creator to protect and defend their copyright. If you purchased the item on the Second Life Marketplace, do not leave a review claiming that the content is stolen. Your review will be removed if it is reported.
  19. Greetings all! We have tried to clean the thread since it is a good resource for those looking at, or thinking about, getting a Mesh Head. However, once again, posts in a thread have devolved into being off topic, insulting, and childish. This is not, and never will be, acceptable, on the Second Life Community Forums. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Community_Participation_Guidelines If you cannot abide by the Participation Guidelines, you may find your Second Life account suspended, or, unfortunately, terminated, if you continue to violate policy.
  20. Hello Chic, My reply was only to address a Merchant who refunds their own customer/buyer, for whatever reason. If the seller refunds the buyer, LL is happy to refund the seller for the commission that was paid on the order/sale.
  21. Hi Fionalein! I included information on how to report the group in my reply to this thread above. It isn't necessary for 1 person to report every group that might be in violation, but if everyone would take the time to report at least 1 group when they see it during their in world time, the Governance Team will be able to address them all, eventually, and word of mouth will also spread among the users and group owners, and group members, as well, when the groups start disappearing.
  22. Greetings Chic! Linden Lab will happily refund the commission that was paid on any order that you refund. The merchant MUST refund the full amount to the buyer After you refund your customer the full amount, submit a Support Ticket under Marketplace and include the MKT Order Number, the item that was sold, the name of the buyer and the copy of the transaction from your own transaction log showing that you refunded the buyer the full amount of the purchased item. LL Customer Support will then review the purchase, verify your refund to the buyer, and will refund you the commission that was paid on the sale.
  23. Hi Berksey! Please do report the group. This can be done by looking up the Group Owner and submitting the AR against the owner, or one of the owners, of the group. It is not necessary to submit a separate report for each owner if there are more than one. I do not believe that there is a specific option when submitting an Abuse Report for groups, so choose one that you feel is closest to the issue. I do recommend that the subject be changed to something like "Group Name Violation - "Group Name"" this way the Governance Team will see immediately that you are reporting a group. The extended information section can then be used to reiterate that you are reporting the Group Owner for the Group name, or if you are reporting group charter information, you can then include a copy of the group charter text. If you are unable to determine who the group owner is, please submit the Abuse Report on Governor Linden and include the above information about the group name or charter in your report. Thank you SO much for your attention to issues such as this and your desire to help keep things on the up and up in Second Life!
  24. Greetings! Information regarding Skill Gaming is provided in the SL Terms of Use and the Skill Gaming Policy https://www.lindenlab.com/legal/second-life-terms-and-conditions http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Second_Life_Skill_Gaming_Policy Since skill games are regulated, any Skill Games must be approved and can only be sold to Skill Gaming operators. If you offer anything that qualifies as a Skill Game to the general public, then yes, the object will be removed and you will not be permitted to sell the object.
