  1. oh when I look at the pictures I see what you mean.. and in that case no I have not seen any with actual 3D.. They would have to be made in a mesh 3D program and uploaded and added to each individual nail, that would be one huge undertaking if in fact it could be done at all. Attachment points would have to be 10 one for each nail, and rigging for nails .. I am not even sure that is possible. But perhaps some genius could manage it lol.. Maybe one of the bento ring makers could figure it out. OK disregard this whole comment lol... I just looked at some of the links given in the previous post.. it can be done wow!
  2. Yes I see them all over the place in fairs etc. and MP.. just that they are not called encrusted nails lol.. Pretty sure if you just put nails in the search you will come up with loads, you just have to look through what is there.
  3. The second item picture: it is mesh as there are definitely two layers there, the lower one with the fur texture on it and the layer just above it has the same texture on it but with transparency on to give the effect of fur. and because of the shape of the item with many rounded surfaces the texture is stretching in places and with the transparency added to the upper layer, yes it definitely looks blurry. If the item is mod you can perhaps change that transparency layer and decrease the amount of transparency which might help. If it is not mod then I think I would be note carding the creator pointing out that the effect is not pleasing at all.. However, after having said that... if there was a demo, and you did not try it first and just went ahead and bought it, then I am afraid you may be stuck with it as it is.. and if you did try a demo, and the demo was not like this, then I would let the creator know that. If it is a hunt item, and you did not pay for it, then you really have not lost anything. And as Bitsy said different graphics card, viewers, settings all affect how any given texture will look and it could be different for different people.
  4. well not so sure you are failing to find but with the requirements you state you need.. that would narrow the field down considerably I am afraid. Firstly there are very few hair makers that provide any sort of mod abilities. As for complexity and LOD factors well those are only things you can test out once you have a demo of course. I can think of one place you might want to check out for the styles you mention.. and that would be enVOGUE http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Auro/142/199/23 I know they have a load of dreads and such and although most are no mod, the ones I have also have an option for you to alter the colour via a colour change with the hud.
  5. And there is also Mena, her colours and textures are good.
  6. Well since you are using a GA EG mesh head, you are pretty limited to skin makers who make for that brand as well as Belleza and Slink, and from what I have found, getting one skin maker who does appliers in the same skin tone for all of these different brands, will be a chore. Especially with the head, so you may well be stuck with what ever matches what is available for the head. You might try Deadly 7 Skins, or Dream Ink Skins, and there may be more out there but those are about the only ones I know that have a good selection of skins with a lot of appliers.. (although I have not seen any for your head brand but was awhile last time I was in one of those shops so there might be now). I know getting all that coordinated is not easy, took me ages and I use a Catwa head which is a lot easier to find skin appliers for. You will just have to go and get a load of demos and see what works for you, be prepared to spend a fair amount of time doing so.. So good luck:)
  7. Thank you Rolig, actually I have been talking to this person, and have offered to test his table if and when he gets to that point;) I don't know much about physics but it all looks horribly complicated.. perhaps I want too much;) lol
  8. I still haven't found a pool table that works well consistently, lots of false calls on shots on the ones I have tried.. and honestly balls do not go where they are expected to go even when you think you have lined up a perfect shot.. I do golf in SL, but must say I have not run into the issue you mentions above, but that may be only because I don't go when lots of folks are there. I also found a lot of the same problems with bowling, balls not going where expected even if lined up properly.. I guess it is extremely hard to manage games like that and get them to work as one would expect.. too many variable to consider and build in no doubt.. But I will keep looking..
  9. OMG! this has turned into a mud slinging contest.. I have been here 12 and a half years, I do have a business in fashion in SL.. and as I see it no amount of whining will change the fact that: Maitreya Lara body is POPULAR because it is GOOD, and if clothes makers make stuff for that body it is because so many ladies use it.. (smart business).. if other bodies were as popular then clothes would be being made for them too. In my experience there are 3 GOOD body makers and MOST clothing makers for women, make for all three at the very least.. BUT and I stress this! SL is a place where there is always equal opportunity for anyone to make what they want and what they like and sell it.. period.. nowhere, does it say to be in business in fashion "thou shalt.. this or that".. It is NOT LL's fault that certain items are not made in SL, the simple answer to that is .. no one has done it .. yet! And LL is not about to go searching for folks to do it, nor should they be expected to make a policy to govern our freedom to create what we want.. or dictate what we should or should not be making (all within their TOS agreement of course). Just give it up Unregistered you are not gaining any favour here, and those whom you say this is targeted for have better things to do than read this much less act on it.
  10. I agree with what has already been said, if this is a topic you want LL to pay attention to, then this likely is not the forum for it. I do have one little thing I want to add: LL gave us all the freedom to create and contribute to our community as we see fit within their TOS agreement. Having said that, it makes sense to simply avoid those areas we don't want to be involved in.. i.e. gachas, don't play them.. simple. As for "ethnic" .. skins are more likely to represent any ethnic group rather than mesh body (which can be adjusted to size if desired), so perhaps we need more skin makers to focus on ethnic appearances?
  11. thank you norajulian, I tried one of those tables last night at a club, I was playing with my partner, he was shooting solids and I was shooting stripes, I made several good shots sinking the striped ball as I was supposed to each time and sinking it.. and each and every time, the table put out a message that I failed to sink target ball... I was not impressed.. perhaps it was just that one table I dunno..
  12. you would need to get the applier kit from Maitreya it is available at the store. Once you have that you put your textures into the hud (there are instructions in the kit) you can of course apply it to your body. If you plan to sell your tats it is a good idea to put them into a hud applier anyhow as so many folks now use mesh bodies.. You can also do that with the other bodies out there, just get the applier kits from the creators of the bodies.. and there is also an omega applier kit you might want to get as well..
  13. I have been looking for a really good pool table, one that you can play just like in RL.. I had one my first year in SL it was awesome, you could hold the cue, control your shots including angle and force of shot.. it had it all, and it looked great too.. but alas with SL changes over the years with scripting etc. it broke and the creator was no where to be found again.. I cannot find one anywhere that actually functions right.. so if anyone knows where I might look that I may have missed.. please PM me (cause posting any resource in here might be seen as advertising).. I would be very grateful, there is virtually nothing to be found in search:( Thanks
  14. oh wow where to start lol... Well if you are going to make non mesh that is system clothing, you do so much the same as it has always been in SL, if you were here before then I expect you know how to do that. But you will need to visit the main mesh body makers and get kits to be able to make appliers for system clothing for each specific mesh body. If you are planning on making mesh clothing, you will need to do one of two things.. either make your own mesh using Blender and Avstar, or another good 3D program that allows you to save all the maps and rig the clothing as well as save to the required .dae format. OR you can purchase full perm ready made templates on MP and as long as you follow the creators TOS, you can create your own textures for these templates in photoshop or any other graphics editing program that works for you. The method you decide to use, and the programs you want to use to create can vary from free to very pricey.. depends what you want. Many of the top creators use Maya to design in 3D, Blender is popular cause it is free, but personally I find it confusing; Avstar is a plug in you can get for Blender specifically for doing clothing for mesh bodies. I don't know much about Marvelous designer, I know it works for LL's Sansar but not sure about SL. And finally to make any sort of mesh for mesh bodies the mesh needs to be rigged and fitted properly for each type of mesh body, which means getting developer kits from each of the mesh body makers you plan to include. The developer kits vary in info and helpfulness .. one is very good and even provides a video.. all should give weights etc. to rig and fit properly. Bottom line, this is a huge undertaking, a lot of learning and you may have to spend some money.
  15. They should if you are using the omega relay for altramura with the appliers.. The trick is to put the relay hud on first, then use the applier. Sometimes when first using the relay hud you have to click on it to get it working.. once it is alive, the appliers should go on.
  16. Unfortunately all of us who have gone to a mesh body, have run into this issue. As the above post says there are some things which can be salvaged with regards to clothing when it comes to mesh clothing, but not all will work even with messing with body part sizes etc. as for system clothing, unless the maker of the clothing offers appliers for your body then you are just plain out of luck with that. You can always go back to the store where you got it and see if appliers are now available as some clothing creators are making appliers for their most popular system clothing, especially the gown makers. Might be worth checking. As for skins and mesh bodies.. any skin that has appliers for mesh bodies will work for you if you are still using the original non mesh head. But if you are now using a mesh head as well then you have to search for skins that have also appliers not only for the body but also for the particular mesh head you use in order to get a good match. I use Maitreya Body and Catwa bento mesh head... fortunately for me, my preferred skin maker does offer the whole package (Dream Ink) for a variety of skins. The bottom line here is, that we just have to try demos, and do a lot of research to find something that works for us. There is NO easy solution. And there is no way you can make appliers without the original texture files which most creators do not supply or give out.
  17. a Male Catwa head does fit the Signature Slink body, I know because my hubby has one and it fits perfectly... but if you are trying to fit a female head then I am not so sure that would work. If you are using a male head, and it isn't fitting try reading the note card that came with the head, usually there are neck sizes suggested for fitting.. If you have altered the neck size on the body then it may not fit right.
  18. yes agree with both the above posts, just scratch TMP off your list.. stick with the more well known creators i.e. Catwa .. that way you know you will get updates fast, and service if need be.. and yes if you are wanting to change or tweak the shape you really do need to go with a bento head. AND do try demos first for sure.. I went through about 15 heads before I found one that I could make look like my vision of "me" lol. My partner has a Catwa head and he is very happy with it.. he was able to find a skin that had appliers for both his slink body and his Catwa head and he looks amazingly handome:)
  19. I have been in SL for 12 years, and I have made both mesh and system layer clothing for avatars. Painted on System Layer clothing doesn't need to be different sizes cause it is just a texture.. Then there is Rigged Mesh in standard sizes and that definitely has to be different sizes and be used with a alpha layer, then there is Fit Mesh in for classic avatars, and it has to be in a few different sizes as well and still used with an alpha layer... The fit mesh can be adjusted using sliders but that does not always work either depending on the shape of the body and the area that needs to be changed may not react to sliders.. BUT I have never seen a mesh dress in only one size that will fit any shape original classic avatar.. never! So I would be very curious to know where you found this dress.
  20. Where did you get the gyazo pic from? It looks like an advertisement pic, if so you might be able to track it by seeing who made the pic i.e. who it belongs to. And contacting that avatar and ask about it. It looks like so many others out there of that style I can see where an MP search would be exhausting.
  21. well, I don't know imgur at all in fact never heard of it, I am a die hard photoshop addict. But if that program imgur, allows you use layers, and save in .png or .tga then you should be able to use it.. Clothes making (texturing) will require the use of probably several layers.. it also helps if the program imgur has some nice tools to assist in getting the textures on just right. If you can't use that one, and you can't afford photoshop then gimp is a free one that a lot of folks use.
  22. It will take some time to learn yes, and you will need a program like photoshop, gimp is one and it is free. You will need to be able to apply your textures to the maps that are provided when you buy a mesh template. You and to load those into your computer in order to access them to apply the textures. I am self taught (been using photoshop for digital art since it came out so doing textures for mesh was no big deal for me) so I have no idea if there are any videos to show you or not.. You could try Youtube might be someone has dome some. So yes there will be a learning curve and the need for a graphics program.
  23. You bring up a very interesting subject here. If you find one I would be interested too. I take a lot of pics of the clothing I make, and working with gowns has always been a problem, I have a few static poses that I use but it is a pain to have to keep using the same ones all the time. As for an AO .. nope I have probably found pretty much the same thing you have. I am always checking out animations but there are actually very very few that can be used with gowns effectively. I kind of think we are all in the same boat on this one lol. It is also an issue with dances too. My biggest beef is that even if you use an alpha to hide the legs, you still have the feet and shoes, which a lot of time show up as floating and disconnected to anything. And if you don't use the alphas to hide the legs then you got half a leg sticking out of a dress that is not meant to show legs at all. This has been an issue since forever I think although some fitmesh rigged well is a bit less of a problem but the problem still exists.
  24. well by the look of that photo it could be one of several reasons for that. First, if you are trying to put a mesh shoe made for a mesh foot on your classic avatar, forget it, just won't work. The only shoes that will work for classic avatars are mesh that is enclosed (no foot showing) and comes with an alpha to hide the foot so you don't see it. Or if you are using a mesh foot, and a mesh shoe, the shoe has to be fitmesh made for that specific foot.. if you try to put a slink shoe on a maitreya foot it won't work.. and What is very plain to see in your photo, is that that shoe requires a "high foot" and you have a flat one so of course the shoe will not work. Hope this gives you some insight.
