  1. This may not be the best place to post your job search. There is a topic category in the Forums Called "Inworld Employment" where you can either post that you are looking for work, or post that you are seeking workers. You may have more luck there.
  2. Yes the Maitreya main store is where to go for the body: you can get a demo version free to test to see how you like it. I have a few mesh bodies, but the Maitreya is the one I keep going back to. It allows you to use your slink hands and feet with it if you prefer those. And a lot of skin makers do make the appliers if you prefer a skin other than the one that comes with the body. Also there are several shapes included that you can pick from, or you can use your own shape with it. Just put Maitreya into search under places and you will find it pretty quick.
  3. I know what you are saying is frustrating, I had slink feet long before I had a mesh body, but I didn't get slink body, I got another one that allows me to use my slink feet and hands with it.. thank goodness! because I have a load of slink shoes that I otherwise could not wear. There is no "standard" size for feet as noted above each foot maker does them slightly differently so we are stuck with shoes that only fit one foot size. There are not all that many out there that make shoes for other than slink, a few now but not too many. I frequently use a non rigged boot and remove the feet and I then can adjust the height of the boot and the position to where I want it. I run into issues when I have a nice slink boot but it doesn't fit the lower leg part of my mesh body. This is certainly something that could use a little attention lol. Some shoe makers I noticed are now making shoes for a few other bodies as well as slink. But one size will never fit all unfortunately.
  4. Wow I didn't know that anything like that was available with mesh. If she can see it and you can't it is likely something with rendering and your graphics card perhaps. I would try updating my graphics card, and try another viewer perhaps Firestorm. If neither of these things work for you I am afraid I don't know what to suggest. But perhaps another reader will.. good luck!
  5. Learning how to research for things you like is a skill that comes in very handy. I do not recognize those hair pics so I have no clue. But you can find out yourself, where did you see those pics? Edit them and see who made the pic, then contact that person and ask.. If you saw it on a blog, usuallay bloggers give credit to the outfits and clothing they are blogging about, or at least would know so you could contact them. Or you could just plain do a MP search, put in the words women's hair, and go page by page till you find it. Or take a few hours and check out hair stores. If you have seen it on another avatar, you can edit the hair and see who the creator is, and if that won't work, ask the avatar in a private IM. Hope this helps some, and good luck with your search
  6. Wow good for you, smiles.. I am obviously not a male but I do have a partner and he is very very picky about his clothes. He won't wear anything that seems to him to be efeminate; he only wears mesh, he likes masculine styles for casual wear; biker stuff if it is not loaded with death skulls n such; won't wear mod clothes like those low crotch pants or anything too grungy; won't wear bright textures; it has to fit; alphas have to work; and most of all the clothing has to look realistic. I have attempted a few male items but to be honest I find making men's clothing kind of boring, you can't have as much fun with textures as you can with women's clothing. But I agree more variety out there for the guys would be great. I know my partner would appreciate it.
  7. All mesh body makers, have applier kits that you can apply for and receive. These kits give you the script you need for that particular mesh brand, and a note card with instructions to make the appliers. Omega also has a kit. My suggestion is to go to the stores of these mesh body makers and collect the kits or follow the link they give you to apply for one. Since you need to own the textures you can only make appliers for items that you have created and own the textures for, or full perm textures you have purchased with a license to use.
  8. My partner wanted a mesh head, just the head not the body cause he didn't want to have to change his entire wardrobe lol.. So we went on a search, of course we started with the most popular and most advertised and we both agreed we have not seen anything quite so ugly in SL anywhere.. As far as I am concerned the body is also pretty ugly as well, way over done, out of proportion, but the head is absolutely unattractive period. From a female point of view, I want an rather handsome, perhaps rugged look but not something that looks like it just stepped out of a gangster cartoon. Any how, after trying all the available demos, he settled on an Evian Head and skin combination. They have several and are the least ugly of all that we checked out. In my opinion, most of the male heads makers are totally out of touch with what is attractive.. they seem to be either too boyish, or overly ugly. It would be nice to find something really good.. The Evian head my partner settled on is acceptable. The store where these can be found is called Egoisme, skins & fashion.
  9. well I don't know how much help I can be but here goes: 1. the eyes, mesh can react differently to light then prims do, so the first thing I would check is see what your lighting is set at (environment settings). I have mesh eyes and have not encountered that at all. Good mesh eyes come with a system layer eye as well, I wear both and get a perfect result. 2. As for foot alphas, Long ago I found a whole set of foot and leg alphas for boots of different lengths on Market place. made by this guy, https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/25970 check out his store perhaps he still sells them. As for making alphas no it is not hard if you have photoshop or gimp, and a body template to use as a guide. You simply black out the area you want to become alpha on a seperate layer and save in png format. 3. As for the hair thing, In 10 years of SL, and messing around tinting hair etc., I really have never experienced anything like you are describing at all. In fact I have never heard of any attachment leaving a hole in the avitar after detaching.. Does the hole stay there after a relog? The attachment and the avatar are two entirely different items. I really am at a loss here as to even begin to figure out what that might be. If the hole is permanent, you can fix your avitar, but I would need to know what viewer you are using to tell you how to do that. And hats or attachments to hair or head will bump off the hair if you attach them by using the "wear" button if the attachment point is the same as the hair... to avoid this I use "add" not wear for any attachments like hats etc. Maybe some other residents have experienced the same issues you are having and would be of more help than I am. But this is the best I can offer.. good luck with it all.. smiles..
  10. Perhaps I am not understanding what you are painting on.. Are you trying to paint on an actual object, or a layer map? If you are painting on an actual object, I have never done that in photoshop so I guess I can't help there.. I always use the texture maps in photoshop to paint on, so sorry never tried an actual object.
  11. The only thing I can think of that might be causing that, is the order of your layers, if there is a layer on top of the one you are painting on then it will not show. Other than that I would be stumped as well, but usually it has something to do with the layer order, or if a layer is masked.
  12. I fully agree with the previous post. SL is an opportunity to be the individual we all always wanted to be, and that includes fashion. I for one would never rely on any group to tell me what works and what doesn't for me. I need to be able to express myself my way. Take a risk lol, trust your own judgement, look around the stores, and Market Place, until you find something you really love, if it is an outfit sometimes all the accesories come with it. If shoes etc don't come with it, then purchase some shoes that are likely to go with many of your outfits and you can't really go wrong. Half the fun of SL is expressing one's self, give it a try:) smiles.
  13. Well if you are working on mesh fit mesh or regular rigged mesh, you will not be able to change that actual mesh by making a texutre shorter than the mesh uless you make the part you don't want to see totally invisible but the mesh will always be there and it won't be a very neat result. As for making one section of a mesh piece of clothing shiny, you can only do that if there are different faces on the mesh item to begin with, if the item is all one face then the whole thing can be made shiny or not. If there are faces then select the face you want to be shiny and adjust the material shine to where you want it. Making something shiny has nothing to do with an alpha. Either you use a specular map in materials, or you use the shine option. And as I said before if there is only one face you cannot make part of it shiny and part not using the shine options, it is either all or nothing.
  14. I have never tried anything like that with mesh texture maps so I have no idea if it would work, but if I were to try it, in photoshop I would erase all the areas on the map that I did not want to show up, and make a .tga file using an alpha layer and hopefully when applied it would render the desired areas transparent. Just a guess lol. And it shouldn't cost you anything, you can do a temp upload of the texture map on the mesh until you get it right or decide it doesn't work.
  15. As Madeline said that is the way to do it. I would just like to add a little something to keep in mind. If you are using a classic avatar the laces probably will perform correctly as far as movement with the body goes. However, I have found that using a mesh body, usually any object attached such as a belly ring, does not stay where you want it unless it is rigged mesh, it will move off to the right or left with the body underneath the mesh and not follow the mesh at all. This is actually very annoying. And if you linked the laces, make sure that the laces are not the main object in the link.. if they are then that will cause the laces to rule the position. If the pants or swim trunks are the main object then the laces should follow the position of the tunks. So maybe just try unlinking, and relinking making sure the trunks are the last thing you click before linking.
  16. I would love to help you, I have to admit I don't have a clue what dessous is! sorry!
  17. No skin will work on any mesh body unless it comes with the mesh body on the hud for that body, or if it comes on an applier for a particular body. In my experience with mesh bodies you can try any skin by any creator as long as it has appliers for the mesh body you are using. You cannot get an applier for belleza to work on a Maitreya body, but if you have a belleza skin on an Omega applier you can with the use of a Maitreya Omega conversion hud. Which you can pick up easily on MP. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Omega-System-Kit-Maitreya/6709966 Hope this helps some
  18. It is really hard to tell with only the upper part of those shoes visible in the pic; what I do when I am looking for something is track down where the pic came from, and send a message to whoever did the pic, or posted the pic, simply ask where the shoes came from.. I almost always get a response.
  19. the second one might be from Exxcess I was in there yesterday and I am sure I saw that one or something very similar.
  20. You might require a different license to be able to get the texture map for the mesh; I would check with the creator of the head.. I know that applier licenses are different than the ones you have to get to do textures in photoshop or gimp.
  21. I must say this was indeed an interesting experience! A skin fair where most of the folks are walking around without bodies, dresses and no body, or heads floating around bald bobbing all over the place, I don't think I saw one complete avatar the whole time I was there lol. I was warned that I would be booted, but for some reason I wasn't lol.. I think what ever script detector thing they are using is definitely borked.
  22. Well that was an interesting excursion. Of course the majority of skins did not have appliers at all available. My own fav skin maker has nothing new in over a year, and was promoting appliers which is good, but advertising "coming soon" a skin specifically for a TMP head which as far as I know isn't even out yet (but I could be wrong on that). So I won't be looking at that as any kind of upgrade for my avi.. not into anything TMP. And indeed I saw a lot of very ugly skins, weird totally unatural lips with a pemanently exagerated pout, or strange looking eyebrows, And the kicker was one store that is known for their popular mesh body, had skins on display, nice looking in fact, but no mention at all of any appliers for their own body yet! That I found incredibly strange, one of those skins I would have for sure considered but not without an applier for my body! And I went with well under 20 scripts, and still go that message I was wearing heavily scripted attachments.. lol ok 2 scrips in my hair, 4 scripts on my body 2 scripts on each hand.. and that was it, mesh body hair and applied clothing no shoes. I ignored the message and I did not get kicked lol.
  23. OH MY! On the whole these are NOT good reviews lol.. I have been too busy to get around to going. And I do like my present skin, paid for all the appliers for my mesh bodies and have quite a bit invested in this skin. But now I must say I am curious to at least take a look lol.. however, having said that, I doubt I would get in as I am definitely NOT going in nearly naked or as a ruth.. But we will see.. I will report back later if and when I get in lmao !!!
  24. is wow! that sounds incredibly complicated. But generallly speaking it is much simpler than what you are describing. First you don't need anything to do with the TMP applier if you are not wearing a TMP mesh head. So forget that. I do not use that hair and don't have any by that creator, but all other hair makers provide a basic mesh hair, plus a hud for colour. So I suggest that you look in your inventory, and use "add" not apply (making sure you have no other hair on) any of the little box like items in that folder till you find the hair one and the hud one. Also you need a hair base so if there is a little tatto thing wear that. I suspect that from what you have written that the: Dura-Hairbase*01 is your tatto hair base, and *Dura-B&G*63 - MIX TWO COLORS -base.black (Hud & Resize) this is the hud, and this *Dura-B&G*63 - MIX TWO COLORS -base.black, is the hair. I hope this is some help, I have been in sl 10 years and I can totally imagine how confusing this stuff must be to a new person.
  25. Yes that explains the vendor issue; but not Market Place. On Market Place you can have a demo for 0, the choice there to charge 1L is entirely up to the seller. And if you are tracking sales through the transaction log the 0 sales still show up there. Even if you use Casper Vend inworld your free demo sales still will show up on your sales page, and your SL transaction log if you tie them together.
