  1. Well don't feel too badly Monti, you are in good company! I have been making clothes in SL for 11 years, through all the changes, was doing well till mesh came in, and to my horror my 3D modelling program does not save or export in the correct format, nor can you rig correctly with it:( So had to learn a new program that does.. Meantime I have been using pre made full perm meshes and doing the best I can with textures to make them unique. Now that I am ready to start doing my own mesh, I can't get those kits either, not well known enough, don't use FB or Twitter or Blogs or even Flickr.. not into that stuff. So my chances of getting the kits are about as good as yours are.
  2. I am with you! I much prefer to mix and match diff parts of diff outfits with hair and accesories, according to my mood. That way I get way more mileage out of the items I own. I have a few outfit folders but those are mostly for emergencies when I don't have the time, and I rarely use them anyhow. As for pictures lol well I don't have the time to take a pic of and outfit and add it to an outfit folder. But having said that, my partner on the other hand, hates having to dress piece by piece, and he forgets where he puts stuff in his inventory. So for him outfits are a blessing lol.

So, while it's ok that it doesn't do you any good, it does help others. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Exactly! And to be honest, I do not see why the need for a post about this at all. It is what it is, it either works for you or it doesn't. It doesn't totally work for me either, but it doesn't work for me because of my own choices, so I am not about to complain.
  4. Ok now I am confused lol. The link you posted goes to a MP page that is selling an outfit that includes the top. So why not just buy it from that page? If you don't want the shorts it is cheap enough to just use the top if that's all you want.
  5. hmmmm your link didn't work so I couldn't actually see the top, but from what you said it looks like you need to go to the TMP project shop inworld and take a look at what they have perhaps? Try typing out The Mesh Project in search to get the LM.. I personally don't shop there or use their products but I have been there so I know it exists. Or try typing The Mesh Project in search for Merchants in Market place and when you get to the store, type in tops in search to narrow down what comes up.

  7. Alwin Alcott wrote: have a look here, http://meshbodyaddicts.com/ if you go only look at MP you will miss a few very interesting other choices than a neanderthaler and just one other athletic body for example Adam and Signature I said my hubby started by looking on MP.. that was not all he did! He visited in person, multiple places that professed to sell male mesh bodies, skins with appliers, heads etc. He explored every avenue he could find to get demos etc. I did NOT say MP was the only thing he considered! He did one heck of a lot of leg work and investigation to find something that worked.. my intent was NOT to suggest MP only. The intent was to suggest a lot of demo trying where ever they are found.. and I posted the result of his efforts and where he found them.. That is what I did.
  8. My husband in SL, just went through that whole process, it took him a long time to find skin, shape, and mesh body and head that were all compatable, and would allow him to wear at least some of his previously purchased mesh clothing. he went through MP looking for first skins that had appliers for mesh bodies, and heads. From there he determined which mesh bodies would be good candidates. He ended up with demo after demo untill he found the combination that worked for him. Any place that did not supply a demo was simply eliminated right off. His choices were pretty much narrowed down to Slink Male Body and Aesthetic. As he did not want to look like an ughly hulk so he opted for the Slink body and Labyrinth head/skin combo. As for shape, the skin/head combo from Labyrinth had shapes to go with the skins and he used one of those, altering it slightly to suit him, ie make it a bit taller, a bit more muscle etc. He ended up with a slink male mesh body, the Omega System kit - slink, Slink mesh feet and hands, Labyrinth mesh head and skin appliers for the skin that matches the head and body. This whole combination cost him somwhere between 3000 and 4000 by the time he was all finished. THE MAIN THING IS to get demos!! and check to see how much male clothing is out there for the body you pick.. first.. as my hubby found, only slink and aesthetic seem to have clothing made to suit the respective body. There is a lot to consider here, so take your time and check out demos (I cannot stress that enough). And good luck.
  9. Laughs; I don't have a "method" as such. For me it is all still trial and error, mostly error! Sad to say.
  10. I really wish I could help here. I have been struggling with getting mesh items to work right as well. So I will be very intersted as well if anyone has any good pointers or secrets to share on this.
  11. "Two AOs. Yes I switch between them all the time Hug/kiss HUD Lighting HUD Maitreya body HUD Omega relay HUD Inspector HUD Posing HUD There you go, 8 HUD's already. Sometimes I even have more, like texture HUDs or other RP HUDs." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These are the huds!! OMG! you must have a mega sized screen, and a monster computer! I have been in SL over 11 years, and I use huds too but none are ever on my screen all at once! Lighting is just not needed with all the windlight choices we now have to set our viewer with, two AO's good grief! I just use the one built into my viewer now put my fav poses in it and that's all I need. Maitreya and Omega relay huds don't stay on my screen once i am dressed, Posing hud??? really? all the time?? And I have no idea what an inspector hud is.. I hope it isn't for spying on folks and what they are wearing.. IN short by listing all the stuff you wear all the time you have effectively shown why you have issues with attachment points lmao .. Absoutely no need for all of those all the time.. just arrange them in your inventory so you can find em fast if need be. Sinple!
  12. Wow! that was some rant lol... I do however, agree that when things need to be linked then they should be, despite the number of attachement points we may or may not have. The only reason I can see for having staps to a top or dress not liked would be if you wanted the option to either wear with or without straps. But that was not a reason given for not doing it I guess. As for modify, well back in the day before mesh modify was pretty much needed in order to get a good fit for a prim piece of clothing, but with rigged mesh and even better fitted mesh, it is not so important at least it isn't to me. If I like something well enough to spend my lindens on it then I pretty much like it the way it is so have no need to want to mess with it. I actually don't have a clue which store you are talking about, guess it is not in my fav list lol.
  13. there is a designer that does a lot of jackets like that with hands in pockets.. probably the same one. sorry I can't remember who though. I kind of dismissed those cause I didn't want to walk around with hands in pockets all the time lol.. But if I remember I will post again.
  14. I haven't tried this yet, but was seriously thinking of it. The only way I can see to do it would be to make each applier for each of the body makers you are making them for. Then link them all to one larger hud board that has no scritps in it making that the main link. Theoretically it should work.
  15. wow lots of questions:) Well all I can do is respond as a creator if that is ok. As far as I know, Flickr and Tumblr are not considered "real" blogs.. of course I could be wrong on that. Yes it is always a good thing to ask any creator for permission to blog their items just as a courtesy. As for blogging both negative and positive things in a blog.. here it is as I see it. Everyone, is different, we all have differnent tastes and favourite types of clothing in SL.. So what you might see as a negative, someone else might see as a positive. So keeping that in mind, I am sure you do not want to destroy someones work by blogging negatively, so yes just blog on what you see as positilve. Most bloggers that I know, see something they like, and ask the creator if they can blog on it.. and that usually results in the blogger getting a free version of what ever clothing it is, so the blogger can wear it and put it in any setting they see fit to use for it. Just using a pic provided in an item is not pernission to use it and I might add not very creative either lol. Blogging is an art in itself, and I believe there must be integrity and consideration for the creator in everything that is blogged. Hope this helps give you some insight from a creator's perspective.
  16. My fav groups may be very different from your tastes, My suggestion is to browse through MP when you have the time, get some demos, etc. and when you find something you like, go look at what the whole store has to offer and if it has a lot of what you like then join the group. As for fashion groups, there are tons out there that claim to be fashion groups so again check them out and see if they are what you are looking for you can find a pretty handy list in SL search. Again, fashion is a personal deal, my groups may not be suitable for your tastes. So best to do some looking around yourself.
  17. Nail making is like clothing appliers making, you need to get the templates from the body creators in a kit, go to the different body creators and apply for a kit, you can get the needed info i.e. web links to apply usually at the main store some may even have the kits there for you to pick up although I am sorry I can't remember which ones, in any case you should be able to get the info as to where to apply.
  18. that looks to me like an old flexi hairstyle from Catwa called Lamar, I have it in black. if you don't see it in the store, she may have retired it, or put it in sale room perhaps.. oh wait! yes she has it still in MP for sale at https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/29673/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&search%5Bcategory_id%5D=&search%5Bmaturity_level%5D=G&search%5Bkeywords%5D=Lamar

    thanks

I haven't seen anything with bangs exactly like that, but I do have a style similar as far as the pony tail is concenred.. Might try Aregrace https://marketplace.secondlife.com/stores/106802/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&search%5Bcategory_id%5D=&search%5Bmaturity_level%5D=G&search%5Bkeywords%5D=Hitomi. It has seperate bangs, and the front sides are optional.. without the front sides the style is pretty similar to what you are looking for. You can get a demo to see what you think.
  20. According to the pic of the link you posted, there should be a hud with it that allows you to change colours on various parts of the shoe.. in the pic the strap colour is different on the different models so the hud must allow you to do that.. find the hud in your inventory, and click on it and Add it.. you should see it on your screen, then just click on the colours you want for the various parts. If the hud was not included you probably have to write to the creator and let him/her know that it is missing from the package. If it is just a colour hud, then you have to click on the shoe, put it into edit then click the box select face, then click on the part of the shoe you want changed, then click the hud and find the colour you want to change it to.
  21. Yes what Sassy said is right, and that is why you will not likely find what you are looking for in ready to wear items. In all the time I have been working with mesh items, I have only seen boots or shoes offered as unrigged. In order to do what you want, you would need to buy mesh templates that also offer the .dae files and as Sassy mentioned, you would have to upload those files to a 3D program and alter the sizes in that and then bring them back into SL. I see no other way to do it.
  22. oops sorry! sighs, well I looked again, cause I kinda like em too, but who ever made them from that template doesn't seem to be selling them in MP. I dunno what else to suggest short of hitting every shoe store in SL! Or hoping the original template maker answers your question as to who they got sold to, which I am afraid is highly unlikely. Sorry I couldn't have been more help.
  23. Here ya go! I searched: Tennis Shoes and found them in under a minute: they come with a colour changing hud. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/FLG-Celie-Sneakers-HUD-20-Models/9497097 Have fun!
  24. A well known mesh body maker has created an extra layer on the body hud, which allows the user to change the colour of any system layer clothing applied by an appliier, is this legal? In my view it is not. I am a creator of system layer clothing that I make appliers for so that mesh body users can wear my creations. When I create an article of clothing my permissions are NO MOD, NO TRANSFER. Which means I do not wish for my creations to be altered in any way! Those who use classic avatars are not able to modify or change even the colour of the item. However, those using this particular mesh body are now able to overide my permissions, by using the colour over layer on the hud. This totally over rides my original permissions of NO MODIFY!! This should NOT be legal to do! I am unable to find anything in the knowledge base or Wiki that would clarify this. Yet it IS a violation of my rights to have NO MODIFY respected. I have heard the arguement that it is not changing the texture just the colour so it's ok.. NO it is NOT ok.. the colour IS a part of the original texture. It is my creation, I do not want it distorted and messed up by someone applying an ugly colour over it to spoil it. I should have the right to protect my creations fully should I not?
