  1. ack!!!!! I have been using CS6 photoshop since it came out; I have always saved clothing with transparent areas using TGA, saving it with a black extra background layer to get rid of the white line.. I have no clue what the hell has changed or where but, saving TGA fies that way does not work anymore.. Photoshop hasn't changed, but I am using the 64 bit version for the first time, and for the first time using a black background to save a targa with transparency just doesn't work.. I always get the black background in the save where as I never did before.. the whole purpose of putting a balck layer behind your texture image was to create a transparency and eliminate that dreaded white line that you STILL get with png.. So I don't know what the problem is but I am damned frustrated with it!
  2. Just type in Slink nails into market place search; you will find tons of them but be sure you see the official SLINK applyer logo on anything you consider buying.. if the logo is not there, then there is no guarantee they will work.. SLINK licenses us to make nails for their hands and feet (and or other items for slink products) and we have promised to use the logo. So far I have made some to go with some of the outfits I make but haven't started selling them on their own yet.. but will soon.
  3. ok the short answer is this IF THERE IS NO DEMO I DON'T EVEN CONSIDER BUYING ANY MESH CLOTHING PERIOD! the longer answer is if there are demos I will try both; but 99% of the time it will not be fitted mesh that I purchase.
  4. It is odd but I find some fitted mesh for women seem to have a very distorted hip area actually looks very pointy, not at all smooth and curvy like hips should be.. I am unable to bring my own mesh work into SL due to my 3D program doesn't save in the format LL requires to get it into SL.. So I use templates I buy from other mesh makers and texture them myself.. If a person purshasing fitted mesh does not have a shape that they can alter or play with I am sure they don't wanna walk around with pointed hips, so I stopped doing fitted mesh and went back to the regular mesh for the outfits I put out. That is just my experience with it so far. (and before someone goes to the trouble of telling me how to upload my own mesh to blender and convert it to .dae format then bring it up to SL, don't bother I have tried that and the end result never comes up anywhere close to what it is supposed to look like.)
  5. Well it is pretty simple.. the alpha is too large for the pants so it cuts off the body above the pants so you end up seeing a gap of nothing! solution, either the person wearing the outfit has the wrong alpha on, or whoever made the alpha did a sloppy job! In any case it is the alpha that is causing the issue.
  6. Oh I have messed with those mesh boobs for endless periods of time followed note card instructions to the T, got the right skin match which cost me extra as well.. done everything concievable; and no way wlll those things match up perfectly.. yes I said perfectly! I am not about to walk around or take a pic to display one of my outfits wearing the mesh boobs and applier, if it isn't perfecttly matching and natural.. No lines or sudden shade changes.. I suppose if you are using a rather one tone skin it might work but mine is very shaded so even using the right assistance from my own skin maker,, if i want smaller boobs than full sized, there is NO WAY to match! period.. and that's the bottom line.. I plain gave up on the whole idea.. I will just have to make clothes for ladies who don't wear mesh add on parts. And I am no novice either; well skilled in photoshop, blending colours, matching things.. so when I say I have issues I can imagine those who are not so skilled. And actually I have seen them walking around out there too.. ewww.
  7. I also create clothing for ladies in SL, and I did buy one of the most popular breast body parts for the purpose of offering appliers for tops of dresses etc. for those customers who use those body parts. Although I have no desire for huge breasts, I did try to wear it on myself first to see how it worked of course.. After more that three attempts, approx 3 hrs of work, and even after purchasing the colour applier to match my skin up.. I never got it to match acceptably, there was always a very noticable line where the mesh part met my body and there was no way I could avoid that unless I wanted to use the mesh breast part at full size which is way too huge. The moment I tried reducing the size the struggle to blend the skin became more and more difficult till I finally gave up. Then when I tried to make some top appliers for these things to go with my designs I was even more dismayed, they never flowed well with the dress.. So in the end I gave up even trying to provide them.. for customers. I don't know what the solution is but I am not about to put a design out that looks like it has a pasted on front.. might as well put rivets on it ! And I am not about to put out a product that doesn't blend well. Just saying!
  8. that is a well known hair store; so it's easy! if you have any of her hair just find it in your inventory right click on it select permissions and see who is listed as the creator of the hair, click on her name, then send her a note card of the pic you posted here and ask her.. chances are it either belongs to her or a model she uses either way if she is willing to tell you will get your answer.
  9. Kudos to those designers who are trying to meld flexi with mesh; I admit I have one or two from my fav. hair designers. My point it that where I used to spend litterally thousands of lindens on hair; I am now spending maybe a few hundred perhaps once every two months usually on old flexi hair still available. And if there are more like me; then the hair designers must be feeling it. I may still visit the hair shops and try a few demos but rarely if ever do I leave having purchased anything. But I suppose in the big picture one avie really doesn't make a whole lot of difference what I think. But still had to express my feelings on the matter :matte-motes-frown: As for Mesh clothing in general; that is a whole other discussion, this one was meant for Hair only.
  10. A lot of creators and others as well are not going to like this post! I have been in SL almost 9 years and seen a lot of innovations, changes, updates .. seen it all. As for Mesh, well it certainly has it's place; "some" clothing; objects, vehicles etc. cuddos to the creators who have managed to create some great stuff and actually get it uploaded to SL!! (something I have yet to accomplish due to incompatabllity with my 3d software being unable to save in the required .dae format) But I digress! the ONE place mesh does not belong is hair! Mesh hair to me is a return to the old days where hair stayed unmovable. When flexi came out hair suddenly started to look way more real and attractive, it moved and flowed like real hair. I just returned from a gruelling few hours at the hair fair and found not 1 hair that was not mesh! It all basically looked the same or was whackier and more outrageous than any sane avatar would wear. I know mesh hair is way less time consuming to make, requiring less prims.. but it is static, boring, very cartoonish..... Please Please will some of you Hair Creators go back to Flexi, and create once again something I will buy? until then I will wear my old hair and save a load of lindens!
  11. On the developer menu; there is an option to show lookat and show point at targets which if I check those off then I can see what other folks are looking at or pointing at; and anyone of firestorm can easily set theirs to see mine as well.. on firestorm you can block or prevent others from seeing your targets but this SL viewer has no such option. So how do you prevent folks from seeing what you are looking at or pointing at if they chose to do so?
  12. Why would a friend not show up in the dashboard friends list; but does show up in the viewer friends list?
  13. This "Gesture" is nice for the few who benefited from it; but what I still want to know and do not understand is how there has been a JIRA for over 2 years regarding "Stuck" listing enhancements that absolutely no one has addressed to anyone's satisfaction at all. There are pages and pages of merchants who have had this issue; I myself ended up with half of my listings in "stuck" format. Absolutely NO ONE FROM LL has said anything about when this might get fixed!! Meanwhile I pulled all what was left of my active listing enhancements out. It simply is not worth the frustration of listing something and a month later having it "stuck" so you can't do anything with it at all, your item is not in rotation anymore and you are in limbo for ever I had two enhancements that were stuck since 2010!! These little band aids for a few folks are nice I guess but does litle for those of us who have been putting up with this stuck listing issue for years with NO help or even concern from LL that I can see.
  14. I was one of the first to get ZBrush when it first came out and I have been getting regular updates to the program ever since. I absoluely love it, although it is far more complex then the original was it is getting more and more awesome both in terms of what it can do and the ease of using it. I have created many cool things that I woild love to get into SL, but the problem is that I have never found a really good direct way to do that effectively. Back when we were testing Beta Mesh, I managed to upload a statue; but I had to first save it in obj format then take the obj into blender save it again in the format SL required, in the process the maps ended up distorted and were virtually useless. So if anyone out there knows of a better way to get ZBrush mesh into SL, in one piece and looking like it is supposed to then please tell me. BTW I do not use blender I only got it in order to try and get my ZBrush model into SL. The answer would be of course if ZBrush would add the SL required format to their choices of saving. But that is unlikely to be anytime soon. So if there is something in the meantime please let me know. I have tried the Plug in from the ZBrush forum, but it did not work for me, not sure just why but it did't.
  15. because rigged mesh only moves at the joints; so therefore parts of the body will poke through with different movements you make. Mesh moves but is not like SL clothes which are actually just textures over the original skin mesh of the avi. The alpha allows for movement without the poke through. Hope this helps.
  16. Very interesting Celestiall, I went to the link you posted above to read what you suggested Rod read; and I got this message : " UNAUTHORIZED- it appears you are not allowed to view what you requested, You might contact your administrator if you think this is a mistake" Now why would I not be allowed to view that? I was all signed in and everything!! Is that what I was supposed to see?
  17. Casey! where is this webpage located? I would like to take a look it might just be the last straw for me as well! Please post where this web page is thanks!
  18. Mike You have a most imortant point there!! I personally have no use for any of those facebook type things and I sure as heck did not come into SL to get hooked up with any of them especially against my will! We all should have the right to chose IF we want to have an other connection with anything outside of SL. For those who want it great enjoy but don't make the rest of us get involved in something we do not want to!! That LL viewer just keeps getting worse and worse in terms of all kinds of crap a lot of us don't need or want; taking up room on our screens for a pain in the but interface and forcing us to learn that very unfriendly mess!!
  19. I am smiling as I remember those early days of learning and they were indeed fun! Welcome, and I do hope you keep your word about addressing the many issues that have already been placed before you. Please do one thing for me and thousands of others here: Use a third party viewer i.e. Phoenix; and compare it to the difficult and not so user friendly LL Viewer and see if you don't understand why we are all upset with that thing! Thanks:)
  20. I was not going to say anything more in this thread but I just have to! It just keeps piling up and piling up!! I own 1 sim and it takes all I can manage to pay the tier for that one, yesterday it kept going down for no apparent reason certainly wasn't sim overload cause I was the only one there all day. Called Chat support; first thing they asked was the name of the sim second thing they asked was did the owner know about the problem I am the owner! Long pause then he said we will restart your sim in 5 mins and if it keeps happening file a ticket. The last time I filed a ticket it took 6 weeks for any kind of a response! I pointed that out and all he could do was to repeat to file a ticket. Last time I called Chat support they insisted on blaming a third party viewer for what was obviously a glitch problem that lasted one day but managed to create 2 days worth of work for me to fix .And I won't even mention the problems with Market Place here that is on a whole other thread somewhere else! Mesh! well I decided to give it a try; joined the beta testing. Gave that up in frustration too, cause my 3D programs do not support the one and only format that is allowed. What I had to do was to transfer my creations into Blender and change the format there then upload to SL. It worked one out of 10 times and would not bring any of the original textures with it, came as a grey object only. I don't have the time to learn blender and I certainly do not have the cash to buy one of those programs that does support the format for. So yes this mesh thing is going to become very exlusive as only a handful of creators are going to benefit from it! Second Life is becoming more and more a have and have not community! NO wonder folks are leaving!! I definitely have one foot out the door!
  21. Aww Sascha there may be a new CEO but this is still LL (falls on the floor laughing) I am not holding my breath for anything much less a greeting or statement!
  22. I already had a say with regards to service and a few other things but I failed to mention what several others have said. And that is Second Life is no longer what it was; and sadly may never be again! I really miss those first few years on SL (been here over 5 years). And I really am not looking forward to much in the future. I have actually upgraded my computer so that I can move around at least in SL now but this is the last one ! As for Kids; I shuddered the moment that news came out and I prayaed that someone would talk some sense into LL! I really do NOT want kids here! They and we were far better off when they had their own grid! I sincerely hope you have read all these posts because these folks are saying what we have been trying to communicate to LL for ages! Yes we older residents are leaving and I am about to become one of them! I am sad and disappointed and grieving the loss of a good thing! There are alternative worlds out there in the infant stages but with a lot more promise than SL has right now, unless someone namely you! can reverse the damage already done and prevent any more from happening! Please pay attention this many people all saying the same thing cannot all be wrong!
  23. I extend a cautious welcome. I have been here 5 years and so many times I have heard LL say they have some wonderful changes in store for us. And those changes usually are something no one really wants! Namely the most obvious being that new viewer they are trying to ram down our throats; they have not even tried to listen to we the users on that one! As for customer service? umm what is that but a series of web pages that lead a person into an endless loop of page after page of information, making the person give up before they ever find the help they needed. And the Live Chat well I am really tired of having my issues turned back on me making it my fault or insinuating I am imagining things. Filing a ticket is a joke; 6 to 8 weeks for any kind of response and this is regarding sim performance problems that they know about it's in the jira! No acknowledgement at alll for that long a time. Now I expect that is because I am only a 1 sim owner. Those who are big spenders with business that have them holding up to 100 sims; now they get immediate service! Hope you can see the injustice and unfair treatment there! Oh and when they do acknowledge it they give you a list of things you are probably doing wrong and things you need to try when in fact all those things were investigated prior to filing the ticket and if any one had read the ticket in the first place they would have seen that! I am one who is seriously considering leaving SL for one thing it has become too big and the small business person doesn't have a prayer! I joined SL as a place to create and share my creations with others and make a little money on the side to supplement a rather low RL fixed income. And to meet new people and form friendships only to find that a lot of folks in SL are actually here to lie and decieve and use others. So all I have left is my creativity and that is now burried in a mire of mud. I am seriously doubtful that SL will have anything to inspire me to stay. But I will hang around long enough to see what you can do.
